Caiman's weight loss journey

Thanks guys, I'm really pleased with the progress so far and slow and steady is suiting me just fine (though, indeed... I don't consider 40lbs down since October that slow! hehe)

For the sake of looking back on this thread in the future... a 300 vs 280 pic, again my eyes don't see much difference but my clothes are certainly looser!

Something quite amusing happened on the way to work this morning! I walked out of my place and over the road one of my work colleagues was sat in traffic in their car, I waved and started walking down towards work (the more or less straight 1.5 mile road). The traffic was crawling next to me, and about 15 minutes later I glanced to my side to see the same colleague still sat in their car! They beat me into work by virtue of traffic clearing up in the last quarter of a mile but quite amusing none-the-less that I kept pace for the majority of the journey.

It made me think on actually, back before and around when I started in October, when I used to walk the 1.5 mile route to work I'd take about 40 minutes in total due to having to stop and rest suffering from cramp in my thighs or some form of shin spilnt (from simple walking at a slow pace)- now I can do that same walk no problem in 20 minutes and my 4.25 mile walk home from work in 60 minutes without stopping or feeling any pain at all. I may very well start doing the 4.25 mile walk TO work as well as home soon, which would up me to just over 40 miles of walking a week just Monday to Friday, 50 miles with weekends thrown in!
 
A bit premature and again, I don't want to get into the habit of weighing myself everyday only to be disappointed by natural 'fluctuations' but I did hop on the scales this morning before work and they showed me at 308- a bit of a milestone for me as that's the lowest I've ever got to in previous attempts (since originally surpassing that weight a good few years ago). Fingers crossed come my monday weigh in I'm down under that!

Hey Caiman, you are doing so good! I couldn't help noticing how many miles you have walked so far. For the walking club. Good job, keep it up! That many miles you need to eat good! (good carps and lean protein).

Your belated eating habit, was a "Heart Attack Waiting To Happen!!", so glad you changed your food intake around. Its ok to have a little of those foods in moderation, but not on a daily basis.:seeya:
 
2lbs down this week, which is actually better than I expected because I was a bit naughty over the weekend and had a fair amount of alcohol. Haven't upped the walking on last week yet though the intention is to start that soon enough, especially now it's getting lighter outside in the mornings.

Well done just looked at your diary, thanks for all the work to share it, it also works as a motivation factor for you. I can see a lot of dedication in this. Word of advise, try to cut fat out completely, no margarine, butter, milk,no oil, light olive maybe if you have to.
You will then force your body to utelise its own fat sources to burn as energy,dont let people tell you you need fat (true)but in everything even veggies and fruit you have a small amount of fat.
Keep it up and keep us posted.
 
Ah, hectic few days! So I missed my diary update yesterday! Oh dear, and in more bad news, I don't have a food log to post this week. Well, I did compile one but I have a week off from work, and I compile it in a draft email from outlook... at work. I forgot to send it home to myself, so it's stuck there- I will post it next week in tandem with this week's, just for consistency of having the record.

Eitherway, last week wasn't one of my best I am sad to report, I am going through some major upheaval and changes at work and stress levels have been very high, so things have slipped- not necessarily in the wrong direction- I've still been eating healthily, but I did consume a rather inordinate amount of alcohol and some silly sized portions of food. Fortunately, I kept my walking up though and happily can still report a small loss this week, of 1lb- so again, I'm not complaining and indeed consider myself very lucky that I didn't gain. This week will be better.

Hey Sunflower, thanks for stopping by. Well, I didn't actually make it back into work this week following my scheduled week off. At the weekend I came down with a terrible case of Food Poisoning and I'm only just passed the worst of it, still have tremendous pain around my abdomen with various knock on effects like throbbing head aches and everything else you can imagine goes with the body rejecting something it doesn't like whatsoever!

This has meant I've literally consumed nothing but water for the last four days, but I have zero appetite and don't feel hungry at all. Hopefully though, the worst is behind me and I can return to normality soon.

It's also meant I've been literally bedridden all week, so nothing in the way of exercise... but out of interest I have weighed in this morning to see what effect this has had on me and I'm now at 272lbs, which is 5lbs down on last week- not the healthiest way to have a big loss but I'll take it as part and parcel of my efforts.

Thanks again, to be honest I don't know if I'll keep it off over the next week or so, I expect it's mostly water weight I've lost.
 
Wow, food poisoning, sure hope you are doing better! Just concentrate on getting better.

I'm just about recovered, thanks!

So February has been a terrible month for me in terms of keeping this diary up to date and my food logged properly, a combination of my time off work and sickness too. I'm not going to post a food diary for last week either, considering I didn't eat anything between Monday and Thursday and then didn't really eat normally as I recovered over the weekend- but March will be better! I'm back in work and once again tracking what I eat and the exercise I do.

Today's weigh in clocked me in at the same weight I was in the height of my illness last Wednesday, which is fine by me and it still counts as an overall loss since last Monday, when I officially have 274 down. Thanks for the continued support guys and gals it's always helpful, and thanks for stopping by my thread- I will try to return the favour, I've been somewhat absent from the rest of the site for a while!

Okay so back on track with the food diary. This week is also particularly special, I'm now officially half way to my target of losing 100lbs.

In 20 weeks I've lost 50lbs, across which I've only gained in a single week, around Christmas, which I've forgiven myself for!

I think the next 50lbs will be more difficult to shift than the first, of course- but I started out intending to get there slow and steady and I'm happy to continue the pace.
