Caiman's weight loss journey

my flat mate has been getting to the gym about three times a week this last month so I need to jump on his bandwagon- he isn't currently working though which makes it a bit easier. Must say after work it's difficult to find the motivation to go slog it out for another hour at the gym- perhaps I should give the idea of going before work a whirl.

Not working makes it 100% easier! I pack my gym bag in the morning and go straight from work - that way my brain hasn't switched to relax mode yet and I get it over with right away. If I go home first it's unlikely I'll come back into town to go in the evening. I'd like to go in the morning before work too but I've been setting my alarm to do this for the past three months and haven't actually gotten up once! That's awesome if it works for you though! Keep it up - looking good!!

Exercise is easy once you get into a routine of doing it but it's difficult to get back once you stop for a while. I really need to get exercising like I did in the summer.

Thats so totally true! My problem is that everytime i try to get back into it i do something stupid and hurt myself lol :D

Well, I'm out on my work's christmas do tomorrow night, we're going for a three course meal, and they're paying. Should be interesting... will detail what I ate in Monday's food log posting, but I intend to behave on the drinks and dessert front! Week has gone well so far and I feel I'm on target for an 8th consecutive week of weight loss, but we'll wait and see how the weekend unfolds :D

You're doing so well--I'm jealous you've had a loss every week but very pleased for you! I have a Christmas meal on Sunday but have opted for the "nut roast"...*shudders*

I recall going to like 3 Xmas do's in December after starting my weight loss, all paid for, and all at really swanky nice places.
Most of them only had one item on the menu i was able to eat, one was just a massive huge salad, so large i was unable to even eat it! Sucked bad when others were eating really good food, but i got over the food and just enjoyed the whole socializing thing pretty quick.
Drinking cokes/sprites are a good way to not have people nagging you about 'having a drink' If they don't see you order they assume its spiked with rum/bourbon etc :)

Have fun in the xmas period!

Oh dear I failed so hard last night, though it was fun. Eitherway it has reinforced my ban on boozing. Fingers crossed come Monday last night's festivities aren't reflected too harshly!

I've got a couple of work do's this week too. ugh, I think one is tapas style so I should be able to eat ok there (I'll prob just have food before I go and not eat anything)... its hard not to have some though.

I hope yours was yummy (even if you ate too much, may as well enjoy it eh).

Did you get some exercise in? Going with your flattie is a great idea?

anna

The meal was a bit meh to be honest Anna!

So this week has reinforced why I needed to stop drinking alcohol. Wednesday I had a couple while I was out for a friend's birthday (bending to peer pressure unfortunately). Friday night I was out for work Christmas party and drank far too much and even though I had a three course meal I still ended up buying some take-out in the early hours. I was stupidly drunk and have zero will power in that state. Oh dear. So it was with some trepidation I stepped on to the scale this morning- and still found myself a lb down on last week- a very positive result considering, but could have been better.

Did manage to make it to the gym yesterday, for a change, which probably helped a little in ensuring I saw even the slightest loss this week- and as I keep saying, need to keep up the momentum and keep going. Onwards and downwards!

Hey Caiman,

Special occasions are the worst i think!! I had my work lunch and church dinner to go to and the choices there weren't great. Good job heading to the gym though and on the weight loss. I think one of the key things is to make sure that one day of extra eating doesn't lead to one week of extra eating ...and with the progress you are making I think that you are on the right track :D

I think that we are all going to have problems until the end of the year but well done on still having a weight loss inspite of a bit of a binge :)

Thanks. This week is going to be a testing one, a lot of work related stress getting me down at the minute and that just makes me not want to care or make an effort, but I am trying my hardest not let it get the better of me. As ever the weekday routine is proving easy to maintain but I am starting to worry about weekends!

Maybe it's because I'm a bit of a creep, but I kind of use that work stress to push my habit of over-snacking and over-indulging even FURTHER away.

Like, my work gets crazy around the holidays (I work at a sports bar/steakhouse that sits right next to our town's only mall), and my shifts end up longer and more grueling than normal.
So, while I'd typically like to sulk about how, for instance, we're still really busy at 8:00 pm, now, I'm trying to spin it in a positive light -- "If I'm at work until 9:00, and go home to have dinner then, I won't be awake long enough to be hungry for a big snack later."

I don't know. That's just me; I'm weird.

Happy with how last week went, only real annoyance was a piece of chocolate I had on Thursday- went into a papershop to get some change for the bus and they literally sold nothing but chocolates, sweets, cigarettes and alcohol! I felt bad just buying a 30p newspaper to get change of a £20 note so also grabbed a bar of chocolate. Once it was in my possession I just simply didn't have the willpower to do anything but consume it! :p It's not all bad though, one off hehe.

A few diet sodas have crept their way back in but they're my one real remaining vice and at the minute at least they're sweet and calorie free. Another 3lbs down this week, 1lb to go to reach my revised end of year target, wo0t!

Chocolate is good for you, according to Harry Potter, :D and I tend to agree as long as it's not piece after piece after piece, cont. It seems like you deserve a sweet treat anyways, your weight loss is amazing!

I agree with Fae :) I eat healthy over all but have chocolate and other stuff in moderation. As long as I'm staying in my calorie range I'm good and it keeps me from goin on a binge, lol.

Yeah, and it certainly hasn't hurt me this week :) Thanks for dropping by peeps.

The pavements are like ice rinks at the moment so I've not managed to do much walking this week, and with Christmas at the weekend, I expect I'll be lucky to see any kind of loss at all come weigh in on Monday! Fingers crossed I can maintain the momentum, I'm probably due a week without dropping anything, 9 weeks on the trot seems a bit too good to be true so far eh!
