Cable curls

What do you guys think about Cable curls?
I mean, cable curls compared to barbell curls.

I'm not a big fan of cables but I tried that last time. I'm talking about standing cable curls, the movement is similar to barbell curls.
I felt a great constant tension on the biceps during the whole range of motion.
Although you get a constant tension with a machine, the cable doesn't enforce a certain range of motion, you can still move around a bit.
Unlike barbell curls when at the top of the movement there's little or no tension (depens on how you lift).
Cable curls felt much better than barbell curls.
But I know that you shouldn't rely so much on feeling when working out.
I don't see anyone praising cable curls or similar cable exercise and I see very few people using them.
So my question is , are they good as an exercise, what's the deal with them?

an OK exercise. don't get too hung up in what isolation exercises are the best anyway.. it's more of a personal preference thing.

I don't, I do mostly compounds. Only do 4-5 direct sets for the biceps, the compounds for the back take care of the biceps pretty well.

However my question was more towards cable curls vs barbell curls, and comparison between similar cable vs barbell/dumbell movements in general, not just curls.
I wanted to know if anyone has an opinion on that matter, and can tell me more about it.
Because for some exercises the cable provides full resistance throughout the whole movement(rom), as opposed to the barbell which doesn't.
Still... cables are rarely used in general and don't appear much in workout routine.. why is that?

In my opinion, the cable curls place tension on the biceps throughout the entire movement, whereas barbell curls do not. Considering that you're using freeweights a lot with your compounds, why not try cable curls for a few weeks and see if you notice a difference?
