Hey Everybody!

I'm Sashe Pari and I'm excited to be here with all of you beautiful people. I hope share alot, learn alot, and give and receive encouragement that helps us all succeed! I've been on this road to weight loss for about a month and started documenting my progress a little bit ago on my blog <link removed>, but wanted to share my experience with the forum as I go through this journey.

I made a conscious decision to turn my life around and begin clean eating and working out. A little bit ago, my hubbie had a serious condition that could have cost him his life. I'm am happy to say that he is alive and well!

I did however learn a very valuable lesson in the progress. If I want to increase my chances of have a long, healthy, and high quality of life, I have to get serious about my health, weight, and fitness. This eye opener got me to brainstorming about ways to make this happen. I started off with choosing a gym that was on my way home (literally on the same street I take to go home 5 minutes away). This way I would have to literally pass the gym in order to go home...fortunately, this has not happen yet, so I guess it's working. I didn't want to have an excuse for not going. I make sure my gym bag is in my car ready to go. So, when I get off work, I head straight to the gym, gym bag in hand. I then decided to get 2 of the most important assets to my new found lifestyle...a nutritionist and and a personal trainer. My goal with this was trying to then create accountability. In the past I failed at weight loss because accountability wasn't put in place...this time, I wanted to be sure this was addressed :)

Next, I started a blog to document my experience. Not only would I have a written diary of all that I'm going through...challenges and successes. It also gives me more accountability! I want to succeed because I want to, but I also want to succeed because who's watching (hey, I'm being completely honest).

So, I take all the expert advice that my nutritionist and trainer gives me and I use it, then share it, then tell about what its doing for me.

This tri-folded plan is what has kept me in the gym, eating clean 99% of the time (of course you fall off once in a great while:), and what keeps me motivated to continue on.

My blog and diary will give me and others that also find value in it, my greatest challenges, successes, yummy recipes, and all things fitness. Where I can see my progress...which is an absolutely amazing thing, and can also help anyone else along the way.

I welcome interaction; although, I am a very positive person that believes people should be "encouraged" with the truth :)

So here's my self pep talk:

"Sashe you can do it! Just as any challenge you have faced and conquered, this too you will conquer. Take things one step at a time. If you fall off, just get back up, dust your knees off, and pull up your boot straps. You have come this far...so don't turn around now. It's the baby steps that will get you there. Your goal is to lose at least 5 pounds a month...but hopefully more. Regardless, if you lose 5 pounds or 10, know that you are progressing and will reach your goal. Cast down all negative thoughts as they enter your mind, and focus on the positive. Every once in a while give yourself a pat on the back of how far you've come, without worrying about how far you need to go. Love yourself unconditionally, and all those around you. Lastly, remember to always encourage yourself. Again...you can do it!"

My height: 5"4'
My starting weight 30 days ago: 215 pounds
My goal weight: 150 pounds

My current weight: 209 pounds

Timeframe for reaching my target weight: May 2014 (or sooner...hey, if I can have a hot body sooner, I will!)

Methods on how I will become a bombshell: Cleaning eating & personal training

Sashe's team of cheerleaders: My loving hubby and kiddies, and my super awesome personal trainer and nutritionist

Realistic goal?: Yes, of course!

Weight I would like to be in 4 months: 180 pounds

Reasons for weight lose: health, family, and of course I love me!

Obstacles and Challenges: Clean eating in the summertime (there's lots of bbqs and events going on in the summer with yummy bad for you food:)

Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? Other than the obvious, my doctor told me so

What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Working out and eating clean majority of the time

What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? Fad diets do not work for me. Not working out several times a week does not get results for me. I changed both of those things this time round. Cleaning eating and in the gym!

Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? Yep! Lots of veggies and whole grains. Just got into making homemade healthy treats too!

How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Once per week...Subway or Hawaiian BBQ (grilled chicken with loads of steamed cabbage and no sauce...bet you thought it would be more fattening then that, huh?)

What are your three favorite foods? Everything I shouldn't eat...mexican food, pizza, and Doritos

What are your three favorite restaurants? Again, places I shouldn't visit too often Bubba Gumps, Burger Boss (I have their turkey burger though, not too too bad:), and Louisiana Fried Chicken (definitely a BIG no no)

What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Portion control, more veggies and whole grains

If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? Oh! This is good. Ok, where do I start: 150 pounds, buns of steel, sculpted legs and arms with no loose skin anywhere, contoured flat tummy (mild 6 pack, nothing bodybuilderish), and no decrease in my bust size

Do you eat when you are not hungry? Very rarely

Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? No

Do you eat as a reward? Use to...now I go to the gym and take a zumba class and dance the night away!

Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Guilty, but not much anymore...unless it's popcorn

What do you normally eat for a meal? Fresh tuna salad without all the fatty mayo and stuff with avocado and H2O

What type of snacks do you eat? Fruit, veggies, and occasionally 100 calorie snacks

In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? Working out in the gym! Weights, cardio machines, and fitness classes....I'm puttin' in work!

Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
I go to a local gym 5-6 days per week, and walk with my kiddos once or twice a week

What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Ha! Favorite?...I don't know about favorite, but I do enjoy zumba.

That's all folks! :seeya:

Hey Everybody...

I'm so excited to be progressing as well as I have. I never in a million years thought I would make it this far. I never thought that I would even be in this frame of mind of actually wanting to work out and eat better. Just being in this state of mind for me is amazing..and that within itself is priceless progress :)

I've been really experiencing new foods this past couple weeks, which is awesome. It's great to have snacks that feel like cheating but that are actually GOOD for you!

My trainer is absolutely awesome. I've been shrinking in my clothes which is the best feeling in the world. Saturday I participated in my trainer's bootcamp with a friend and it was mad intense. I was sweating so hard I thought I was being hosed down. And she said that I burned approx. 800 calories!!

800 calories!! I couldn't believe it...but I'll take it. Great workout.

I even conquered one of my greatest fitness fears. The Body Pump class. This class is strength training/cardio with barbells. I looked at this class the first week I started and almost shook in my tennies!

This past weekend I actually finished the class!!! So exciting for me! Yay me!

My next goal is to take the Spin class. That will be my August fitness goal :)

Cleaning eating, Body Pump, and Yoga are the goal for this week. Pray for me...I need it!

Wow what a workout sounds fun! Please keep us updated! I have a diary too!
OOh and yoga I know what I'm doing tomorrow. 2 years ago I was a bit thinner because I was doing yoga everyday.. Have to get back to doing it at home.
Good Luck! x

Hey there CloudyMuffin!

Thanks for the encouragement! I will check out your diary as well :) It's exciting to meet so many people with similar interest! I'm feeling pretty great this week, I'm almost in the 100's, a number I thought I would never see again. Yesterday, I weighed in at 201! Woo-hoo...this is absolutely awesome!
