So not terribly happy with my weigh in today. Was hoping to be between 150 and 151, but I was at 152.4. I am down from Tuesday but up from last friday. Sigh.

My current stats



Starting Weight: 168lb (Original Weight from a few years ago, my heaviest)

Current Weight: 152.4lb

Mini Goal: 155lb by October 27th *MADE MINI GOAL!!*

New Mini Goal: 150 lb by November 15th

Final Goal: 128lb
 
Oy, so today I definitely had my cheat meal! I ate within my budget all day (though skimmed it close cause I was CRAVING food and had such bad urges to eat that I had 2 table spoons of PB), but then my friend had a get together and I thought I would just have one or 2 chips since they were sitting there. No, I had loads of chips and popcorn and swedish berry things. No more cheats at all for this weekend and that's gonna be so tough cause I have had these terrible urges to eat! I am not hungry at all, my stomach is content but my brain isn't!! And it's horribly hard to convince my brain that I am indeed fine with just eating what I should and no more!! Gonna need iron will power this weekend!
 
I just signed up for the myfitnesspal to see what it said and it thinks I should be eating over 2100 calories a day!! I am hardly losing on 1500 calories a day!! Even taking into account having a few less than great weekends I still don't think if you split up the 'over calories' from my weekend into the days of the week that I would be reaching 2100 calories!

Hey MR - for me it is the opposite - my Brain is saying - NO - shouldn't eat - want to be slimmer -

BUT my STomach is grumbling & aching - saying -EMPTY yyyy- Feed MEeee !!! --- oh my ....:smash:

good plan to summon your will-power... it is a "mind game" this weight-loss sometimes.,

Hi MR - I haven't tried myfittnesspal yet - but I have tried other BMR ( basal metabolic rate) calculators for calory recommendations.... & they do seem to be really generous with calorie recommendations...

.... my thinking is that those calculators are a Starting point - and that everyone is a bit different .. height , degree of muscle , genetics ...all affect how easy we gain/lose weight.....

.. I know that I am finding 1,500cals/day average , with some light exercise daily - is just right for weight maintenace for me.. ( I am middle-age (slower loss) , short (5'2") =slower loss) - likely not too much muscle ( many years dieting-likely resulted in some muscle loss).== slower loss...

- I do know , that for anyone - going below 1,200cals/day Not a good idea ( pushes you into starvation mode-not good for your health )....

... so best to find "your" happy medium...?.... even the fat2fit podcasts I listen to recommend using the calculators as a starting point - then adjust calories up or down , to get results you are wanting.

Is that 2100 for loss or maintenance?

Suggests that with a starting weight of 165 if you wanted to weigh 128 in 180 days, you should eat about 1500 calories a day. This would represent a calorie deficit of 650 a day over maintenance right now (with the deficit shrinking as you lose more weight). I didn't know your height, so I guessed at around 5'4"; for every inch taller you can add about 30 cals, for each smaller subtract. I also guesstimated your activity level, and was a little conservative since I'm guessing you'd rather eat a handful too few calories than too much. I also guessed that you were roughly in your mid 20s though that really doesn't have a huge effect until you're quite a bit older.


Interestingly the simulator says that if you do so, you should weigh roughly 152 pounds right now, which is roughly what you currently weigh. In any event, I don't think anything funny is going on with your metabolism at 1500 cals that would impede your weight loss, where you'd need to eat more to jump start weight loss.
 
Thanks guys. 2100 calories was for one pound loss a week with 5 days of 60 min work outs. I just could NOT imagine losing on that number. Definitely gonna stick with 1500 instead.

MrVee, you were pretty much right on all stats and I agree that 1500 is the best option for me I think.
 
Hi Guys- very cool calculator - I came up with 1,400cals/day - +60mins. light walking daily - to get to goal weight over 1 yr - very cool.

& 1,400 is do-able for me.... 1,500/1,600 I'm comfortable/stable weight - 1,200 - I start to get pretty hungry - so I'm glad to know that if I stick with no higher than 1,400 average/day...one yr from now - no more fatty me !

So far so good today. Had toast and PB before going to the barn in the morning, then went for lunch with my mom. I got a 490 calorie meal but wrapped half of it up to go and didn't eat the garlic toast. So that was 245 calories. Just finished having a 200 calorie smoothy so right now I am sitting at 625. At 4:30 I will probably have the rest of my restaurant meal and be at 870 calories. Leaves me with 630 calories for supper. Not sure what I will have yet. Didn't end up going to the gym cause I had a headache when I got back from lunch, but I did go 5 times this week so it's not bad.
 
Hey Mystic - good work on resisting the garlic toast with lunch & saving half the serving for supper - :hat: - way to take-control of those calories !

& Your Smoothie looks totally Yummy !

...good work on 5 times to gym this week - bet the scale will show all that hard work.

Today has been a good day so far. I have about 500 calories left for supper, I have to make up my lean ground beef today so I might have tacos or sloppy joes. Or I might make it up and freeze it all and have soup or peanut noodles. Hard decision!!

I also start my next Burlesque class today! This means I have 6 weeks to lose as much as I can before my next performance!!
 
Just had my Burlesque class and it was great! I find the choreography quite easy even though it's a harder class. But BOY is it gonna be motivating. Last performance we only did pasties for like 2 seconds AND we had underbusts on. This performance there's like 30 seconds of pasties, and NO underbusts so our stomachs with be totally exposed for that time as we try to twirl our pasties (which makes everything jiggle!). Oh boy!


BTW I had soup for super!
 
It's great to see you're still enjoying your dance workouts. I really think it's huge when you really enjoy and look forward to exercise rather than it being something you want to get out of the way all the time.
 
I have to chuckle, that's such a different workout routine from what I'm used to. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that you're doing it and having fun with it! Keep it up!
 
Thanks guys. Ya it really got me sweating yesterday, though it was also terribly warm in the studio which lends itself to sweat. Have the day off work today which is always a bit scary. It leaves me plenty of time to go to the gym and to the barn which is great, but it also has the potential for a lot of down, do nothing time which leads to boredom and thinking about food. Especially since I am now up really early since I had to answer a call from work at 8, when I would normally sleep till 9:30-10 on days off. Oh well, just gotta stay motivated and try to be active even when I don't have anything to do.

BB, having too much downtime can be a pain when it comes to diet because boredom eating becomes so tempting. I try housecleaning when this happens, since I hate doing it when I'm not bored and have other things to do.

I actually had a good day today. Had a good workout, went farther than ever on the treadmill at 2.63 miles. Did the elliptical too, and practised my dance choreography a bit too. I also went to the barn and rode my horse which was great. I did just sit around for the rest of the day but haven't strayed off my eating plan. I made a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch which was yummy.
