Bring Captain Solo and the Wookie to me

So, its been three full days on the Dr. Bernstein Diet, I’ve followed what I’m supposed to eat exactly, I got some exercise over the weekend. I had my weigh in today, I’m in ketosis (which is what I need to be in) and I’ve lost 12 pounds! I’m thrilled!

ACongrats on the quick start and best of luck with the next couple months. Please keep us all updated on the progress and how you feel throughout the experience.

Thanks!

Well I'm loving this diet! I've lost a total of 27.8 pounds, I have had pretty much no success for years and now I’m having awesome results. I’m enjoying the healthy food and enjoying coming up with new ways to eat my allowed foods. As well, I think my taste buds are changing already, I’ve always liked fruit, but now it tastes like candy! I don’t find I’m “hungry†on this diet, but certainly I still feel the cravings. For the most part I’m able to dismiss the cravings pretty quick. Its not that hard right now, it was hard getting to this point were I have the dedication to do this. Of course, seeing the results help keep me on track as well. My clothes are a bit more loose and baggy, but I haven’t actually noticed a difference in me yet. But I have around 200 total pounds to loose, so I’m sure it will take some time, but that’s okay. Also, I’m sure the first week or so of the diet was mostly water weight.

Way to go! At this rate you should be seeing the scale flip into the 300s before long. What do they have you doing in the way of exercise so far?

Thanks everyone!

As for exercise, they said none is required for this diet, but cardio is always good. They advertise the diet as an exercise free rapid weight loss program, but that is not why I choose it, I've seen people get good results on it so I decided to try it. It's a pretty extreme option, but as I said a few posts back, I needed to do something extreme sitting at 435 pounds and gaining quick. They said i need to be on the program for 1 year, but I am only going to do it six months for a boost. Then I will switch to regular healthy eating and exercise for the rest of my weight loss. I'm hoping that I will be able to loose 100 pounds in the six months, I think it's a reasonable goal. Not everyone looses as fast as i am, I'm sure its because I'm just starting and because I've got so much to loose.

Ah, I too seem to have been watching too much Star Wars ... thanks for making me smile with that diary title on an otherwise bleak morning!

Hi there, time for an update. Well the good news is I'm down 40 pounds, but it has not been without trials. I have been unable to follow the diet completely this whole time, so I could have lost more. However, 40 pounds lost is still good, and I’m working at making any cheats further and further apart, and the weight is continuing to come off. Its so easy for me to get trapped into the thought of, Oh I’ll just have chicken wings today, then tomorrow I will be really strict again. The reality is tomorrow there is always something else I will want, and for me, it’s harder and harder to go back to strict after eating bad food, it always become one more day. Sorry for the rant lol But all in all I’m happy, I haven’t seen any weight loss in years, and 40 pounds is a nice amount off my back to start. Here is an example of what I eat on a daily basis

100g veal or chicken x3
8oz veg x2 (or x3 if I can get them in)
6 low fat vegetable thins <crackers> x3
5oz fruit x3

Of course I’m getting the vitamin B6/12 injections x3 a week plus a slew of vitamin pills each day.

Current weight 395 pounds (good bye 400s!)

Hi
Your Jaba thread title made me laugh and then when I read your thread I realized how much in common with you I have.
I was 336 back in 09 (I am 6'1") and "big boned" myself. I lost 56lbs back then and have gained and lost 30 of it twice since then.
The charts say I should weigh like 172 to be below the level of obese. I havent weighed 176 since 6th grade (not joking)
I played college football at 246 but had more muscle then. I would love to see 215 or so.
Currently I am 280. I too use a cpap (bipap actually)
I have come and gone from this thread...but always seem to come back.
Anyway good luck putting those 400s well behind you.
