Bren's Fitness Journey

Well, here I am. I've lost 49lbs so far since the beginning of the year. I just started exercising in July of this year, and walk or bike most every day. I work out at a local gym once or twice a week, and am just learning to use the toning machines.
Mostly I walk on the treadmill and ride the stationary bike. I have to use machine that won't hurt my knee.
I'm pumped though, because today I tried out the rowing machine, and really liked it!
I'm looking into taking more classes and bumping up my level of workouts.
I am a breast cancer survivor, and having had surgery, chemo and rads, and 3 grueling years of fighting my way back, I'm finding it very fulfilling to be able to exercise and just feel good again.
I look forward to lots of inspiration from all of you here. :D

Well done on your weight loss so far and on winning your fight against cancer. Must feel marvellous to you to feel so fit after all that you have been through.
Looking forward to following your diary. :)

I took yesterday off from exercise, but I still did "work". I harvested some honey, which can be quite a bit of work. Honey is heavy!
Today I biked for 4 and 1/2 miles. I'm trying to adjust the bike seat so it's more comfy, and I can ride further. Later I will get a new bike with a better seat.
I haven't walked all week, except for the treadmill at the gym.
I think tomorrow I need to get back on the track. Maybe it won't be so blasted hot in the morning. :ack2:

I don't ride bikes much because I find them so uncomfortable which is a shame as I love the feeling of the wind in my face. I now do most of my walking/running on the treadmill because other than the last couple of days it has been too hot outdoors but I'm really looking forward to the end of the summer when I can get back outside to exercise.

I walked 2 miles in 31 minutes this morning. Amost to my 30 minute goal. I tried running, and no there's way!
My legs felt like they weren't even mine, and even with a restrictive "sports bra" on, the girls were way too bouncy. I think I'll just walk, thank you. :leaving:

Also biked 4 and 1/2 miles today.

Well done on meeting your goal :D
You would need to build the running up slowly. I couldn't run more than a minute or two at a time a couple of months ago but I'm up to 45 minutes now. I aways wear 2 bras it really makes a difference and is much more succesful than any sports bra that I have tried.

Another goal met today! I'm down 50lbs!
I biked 5 &1/4 miles so far today.

Fifty pounds, way to go! Congratulations are in order, for that as well as for everything else you have achieved so far. You are definitely an inspiration! If you wanted to get into running, the "C25K" (couch to 5K) program is very popular. You can find more about it on coolrunning.com, but basically it's a 9 week program that starts out with 60 seconds of jogging at a time and eventually works up to 30 minutes. I recommend it! Good luck with your continued progress, I'll certainly be checking back to see how you're doing.

Went to the gym today. Walked 1 mile on the track, and did another 1 &1/2 between the treadmill, rowing machine, and bike.
I did about another hour or so of stretching and toning.

I know this is boring...
2 mile walk-31 minutes.
Biked 4 miles- 30 minutes.
