Breathing while doing Crunches or Situps

Breathe out as you move in toward your center, in away... Inhale to prep, pull your navel into your spine as you exhale into the crunch, inhale on the way down- use Pilates/Yoga breathing technique. The breathing should help you cue on your abdominal muscle groups while helping you avoid using the iliopsoas muscle group.

(It runs counter to weightlifting, where you breathe on exertion.)

breathing in weightlifting derives from Pilates and Yoga? I had no idea Pilates, Yoga and weight training had contact that far back..
