Weigh in report- 282.6

Lost 1 whole pound

I didnt do so great this weekend. I think I lost more the first half of the week and undid some of it during the second half.

But a loss is a loss

I am attempting to re-focus. I got busy last week and did not menu plan for several days and I do not do well just winging it. I need to plan what I am gonna eat.

I resolve to menu plan this week.

I am now up to 30 minutes on the bike....tiny victory

Finally cooled down...did a lot of yard work this weekend (that probably is why I managed to still show a loss) Worked on mower...mowed...broke mower...worked on mower again...mowed. Need to cut and split more firewood.

ANegatives are all good for the week and the meal planning is a huge help. Surprising how many meals you can cook up in an hour with a full oven.

I always do badly when I try to wing it. One of those fail to plan, plan to fail things I guess.

I've seen this happen, it's like a scene from Alien. One day I'll have a video camera at the ready to capture this little known phenomenon and make a fortune on youtube.

It's amazing how when you're "the big guy" for enough years, you assume the role of being the one in charge of taking care of leftovers too small to wrap up but too big to be comfortable "wasting." It's a responsibility that ultimately needs to be abdicated.

When in my 20s I had a male friend who was about 5'9" 120 and no matter what he ate or did, he couldn't put on any weight. Sometimes I think we need to adopt such people into the family so they can assume the above role.

My mother never had to make me clean my plate. I had some pudgy phases as a kid but by H.S. I was so into athletics that I stayed very fit. I lifted a lot of weights and was trim and lean at 6'1" and 246. That was the weight I was when I played college football. It was my late 20s and early 30s when I started to gain. Then I got a case of furiture disease (my chest fell to my drawers).

I think I need to weigh abouy 210-220 now.

The tough part is having these two big eating boys in the house who pack away 4-5K calories a day and still dont gain. I have had to modify my intake and still longingly watch them eat. Thats where the jumping burger came from.

You started gaining roughly the same time I did (late 20s early 30s). I was between 170 and 190 most of my twenties.

It's amazing what a drop in activity level can do to your weight.

Keep on working and watch out for flying burgers!

Yay for a loss!!

I am lucky to be living by myself so I don't have anyone else tempting me!! On the other hand, i don't have anyone peering over my shoulder seeing what I eat, so I can bring in whatever bad food I want and I don't have to tell anyone I had bad food, haha.

ADo you think the lads would be amenable to having a feeding trough installed? Would help provide them quicker access to more food and therefore mean you'd have to spend less time watching them eat.

It never ceases to amaze me how much fast food we could get away with eating during high school when every moment not spent in the classroom was spent burning calories.

AThe team stopped at McDonald's after our last road game. They ate 40 mcnugetts each. Might have ate more but that was all the money I gave them. Both of them are chiseled also....sigh maybe I will get that trough

Steer them clear of Chicago, I wouldn't want to think what they could do to a deep dish pizza.

As for having to watch them eat like velociraptors while you have to eat like a slightly irritated bunny, I'm not sure I have any advice there. Just try not to dwell on it, I guess.

AAt least I have fond memories of when I could eat like that....they actually do eat healthy...sometimes. And their coach has got them to quit Dr. Pepper

So apart from carting the boys back and forth between football and fast food have you been getting those bike rides in this week? Hope the heat is starting to break for you.

Oddly enough, I was at my peak physical condition when I shot riflery - why? Cuz there were so many foods I couldn't eat that would make me shaky (soda, chocolate, anything greasy). Guess I should have stuck with it, but it wasn't offered in college!

Hey Little John thanks for stopping in...Funny how much our diet can affect things.

F.G. I have ridden (rode? rided? rid? ) 3 out of the last 4 days. I went 2 minutes more today. I think I can now claim that I have gone frome miserably out of shape to just out of shape.

I have done well on diet so far this week I hope to talk noise on the challenge after weigh in.

I still sort of miss my teen angst days, talk about a great appetite suppression - unrequited love from a crush!

Good luck on the challenge!

AHey Brawny, good job on the bike ride extra time...you are well on your way to breaking the next barrier from "just out of shape" to "in shap"...to be followed by "in good shape" and "in great shape" in the near future I'm sure!!

Keep up the good work!

Sarah

AHowdy folks
Just did an extra long bike ride...gearing up for tomorrows weigh in and payin for a bit too much eating yesterday. Out of town football game means out to eat...so hard...but I didn't go too crazy.

I always enjoyed cycling (was even a professional at one point) but at some point as the pounds piled on I started to get self conscious about it. The worst part is that if you don't ride for a while, when you start back up it takes a good week before the unpleasantness of the relationship between the bike seat and your seat subsides.

It's a beautiful day, maybe I'll give it a go.

AYour picture of my biking is way better than the reality...it's a recumbent bike in my office...when I was shopping for it the guy asked me what I was looking for and I told him.."a recliner with pedals"

Ah yes, the 'Not Quite as La-Z-Boy Model'. Always wanted one of those. Still going to do some sort of activity outside. The day is too good.
