Brandy's Success Diary

What is DDR?

What is the challenge? I am new to this site and would love any extra incentives to help keep me on track the first few weeks.

Thanks!

DDR is Dance Dance Revolutions. Its a game I bought in high school that is ALL exercise! Its really fun too. It is a good cardio work out when its too cold here to go walking or running.

On the home page of this site there is a thread called CLUB CHALLENGES. In there people make up challenges in which you have to do things to help you lose weight. Its sort of competitive (with good spirits of course), and it helps with motivation and such. take a look!!

OK. I had 1/2 a slice of cake last night because Dan knew it was my last day to have junk this week... how sweet. None today. None this week!

My dad is still having pizza tonight when I go over there. But he is also buying a salad. So I will stick with that.

Before I go to my father's house I have to get in 30 minutes of DDR, and use the weight bench. Cuz i usually do it at night- and tonight I'll be at my father's...

Its going to be hard keeping track of my calories and stuff today because I"ll be eating at my father's...but I'll make sure to keep it ALL healthy.

Breakfast time has already gone by... so I will find something good for lunch.

:D :waving:

hey! I did it! I got to someone else's journal and made a post! :D

I am going to have such a hard time not eating anything bad! There is so much, "throw it in the microwave" food at my house, because no one is ever home to make dinner. Maybe i will make dinner this week! :D I'm thinking a light pasta and some salad tonight. :D

DDR...oh man, I wish I had that game! I have rock star, but it's not calorie burning! :D i'm going to walk my dog today too. Have to get those exercise minutes in! Go for a walk, then do some core training, and some toning for my arms and legs.

Have fun today! I'm going to get dirty again after school...I wonder if cleaning 5 horses counts as exercise...my arms get tired...lol! :D Anyway, have a great day! And stay away from the junk food! :D

DDR is really cheap if you already have XBOX. The ones for XBOX 360 are a LITTLE bit more expensive. But my xbox 360 is broken so I'm using an old version. I love to dance, and I love to listen to music, so DDR is awesome when I can't get outside.

Maybe cleaning horses does count? I don't know. I've never done it! when you wash them you should march in place sort of, and add little itty bits of exercise into the job. Good Luck!!!

You can do it!!! don't cave in to anything HIGH in calories, just eat a little more on the items that are more filling and less calories. I know you can do it!! Stay Strong, and Stay focused!!!

Good luck to you today and this weekend
Kim

I just finished my 30 minutes of DDR! I feel great! I actually think I did 32 minutes...but its fine... w/e.

I have to go get in shower pretty quickly so I can get ready to head off to my daddy's house for the night.

No missing days exercising for me! I will be successful. I will do EVERYTHING I can possibly do to win this challenge. I am in it for the long run.

Salad tonight for dinner! YUMMM. IT will probably be a chicken caesar salad. yumm yumm. :drool5:

Plus I might get lots of exercise running around with my sister if she plays outside.

I am DEFINITELY going to get in the max exercise of 300 minutes. Only 270 left to go this week!

well... So Long! :seeya:

A long post from me for your diary - because I've been so quiet in the diaries - but I am catching up and WOW!! what a lot of great stuff to catch up on in yours!! I love this stuff!! Cut it down a bit so I didn't requote your entire diary :D
I got gift certificates for Christmas, and I have decided to save them (or most of them) for when I get to a smaller size. ...
What a great idea. What a fitting reward!! :D

... I don't want to have achy joints and be out of breath all the time.. I'm only 19. This is so important to me.
Yes it is. It matters heaps. It's one of the things that motivates me immensely. And how good that you will turn this around while you are still so young too!!
And I want Dan to be thinner too...but I can't force him to join me with my diet. He has to want it himself.
Yup. View attachment 5572

I have decided to take a list of days in the next year that are significant, and find a target weight by then. Here they are:

Valentines Day: 204 lbs
My 3 year anniversary: (May 27th) 186.6 lbs
Last week of July (Maine VACA): 175.8 lbs
My birthday: (October 13th) 162.6 lbs
Christmas: 150 lbs

Oh nice choosing days that will naturally stick in your mind. :)

I'm actually quite proud of Dan as well. He has been choosing (mostly) healthier foods too. He still has the gummy bears, and a slice of cheesecake last night. But today he had Subway, and sushi for dinner. And he isn't drinking soda anymore either. I'm so PROUD. And he supports me too. He isn't kicking my butt out the door to exercise (probably because I'd freeze!lol) but he isn't saying to me "Lets eat Chocolate Cake, McDonalds, Burger King, etc" Like we used to do... especially when we first went into college.
Oh yay :hurray:for Dan and yay :hurray:for you!! These are important changes!!

I need to play DDR a little bit before I go to bed tonight. Even if I just burn 100 calories on it. I didn't go on my walk today because it snowed, and I will feel guilty if I don't do anything. And speaking of exercise... I use Dan's weight bench every night. And I started off just lifting the bar because I was weak. But Now I added a total of 15 lbs onto it! and tonight I might make it 20 for the challenge. So I can bench 65 lbs now! Its amazing to me. I'm not sure how to explain what exactly amazes me...but It amazes me that I'm progressing. That I am getting stronger! That I could only bench 45 at first, and now its 65 lbs. Its something that I feel good doing, and it only takes 5 minutes each time. I can do it at least once or twice a day...
Yeah!! It can change fast, can't it! And how encouraging is it to go on!!!
I like eating something small every few hours, rather than eating 3 huge meals. Because it eliminates the urge to binge... because I know that when I get hungry again... I can just eat something else. Not that I have to wait 5 hours until dinner or something like that.
amen to knocking out the binges!!

DDR - still sounds great!! All this time I was thinking how good your DDR sounded and I never realized till this, that it was something that would go on an XBOX - and we already had one!! And we have an XBOX 360 too now!! OMG I sooo want to remember this for my next winter... actually for other times when I can't get out too ...

So I've caught up just as you were leaving to go to your dad's . Anyway wishing you well with that - you prepared for it which is great, and I hope you've come back having had an wonderful time with them and having had lots of fun with your sister and ready for another great week!!

Wow, I didn't know you are only 19 (not that that's super young...I am only 23)...but what I'm saying is that you made such a good decision to take control of your health NOW. Cheers to you! :cheers2: And I'm happy to hear that Dan is following suit...once he sees how good you look and how great you feel you know he won't want to miss out.

Keep up the good work!

Man, I would love to play DDR! I think that sounds like a really fun way to get in some exercise! Unfortunately, I don't have an XBOX! :(

Hmmm... the boyfriend has a PlayStation 2!

Do you find that it does cause you to work up a sweat?

I have never played it before, so I have no idea.

Do you think it's a good workout?

Thank you EVERYONE for stopping by my diary. Felici- thanks for commenting on everything. I love having your input. I_wannaBthin: I know... I'm young. lol. I tried turning everything around last year too...but it didn't work. Too many hectic things. I had Mono for like 6 weeks, and during that period I couldn't eat AT ALL, so once I started to feel better... I went for EVERYTHING, and had a hard time stopping again.

I had a great time at my father's house. Though I didn't keep track of my calories. I had a lot of salad for dinner while they enjoyed pizza. And the next day (saturday) I went on a walk around the cranberry bogs with my little sister, my father, and our dog. It was great because I was climbing HUGE dirt hills (like at construction sights), so I was red in the face by the time end. We walked and climbed for an hour! Then Saturday night I came home and Dan and I went out to dinner at the cheesecake factory. I ate a lot, but all of it was within my challenge goals! I had pasta with chicken in it for dinner, and strawberries for dessert. (Literally... a cup of strawberries!! No cheesecake. It sort of hurt. lol. But well worth it)

Today I am DETERMINED to clean. It is almost 11 am right now. I am going to take a nap for a few minutes because I definitely didn't get enough sleep last night. Then I am going to pick up the room for 15 minutes. Next I will take my shower, and then put in a load of laundry. I want to go on a walk today (that will probably take about 90 minutes both ways), but I'm not sure If i am going to wait until later when Dan gets home, or just go without him, and with my ipod instead. lol. I had the rest of my pasta dish for lunch, and I'm going to keep everything really light for the rest of the day. I'm not calorie counting today either (because I don't know what my lunch was, and I didn't count yesterday. ) But I have, and WILL be keeping an eye on them. Tomorrow I will start counting again.

Everything is pretty great. I did shopping for Dan's Birthday. I got him another knife for culinary, a tshirt, a wallet, and a hat. He likes them. I can't wait to give them to him.

But for right now... i am SLEEEPY. And I want to take a nap.

Though my lunch (and dinner last night) tasted awesome, I don't think I will be eating to heavily anymore... I feel yucky afterwards.

I'm still completely motivated and happy though. This is the time. I'm keeping Valentines Day in mind!

I just have a little bit of pasta left. So for dinner I am going to have a grilled cheese with the rest of the pasta. yummm. I didn't have lunch because I was sleeping, and I still have a killer headache. Dan is going upstairs to eat with his parents. I really don't feel like it. I did 30 minutes of DDR... bringing me up to 120 minutes for the week so far!! in only 3 days. Thats pretty good!

I have 180 for more minutes to do within the next 4 days. Thats awesome!

Well, I am going to lay down for a while because I feel so awful.

Its a great work out! and YES you sweat a lot. Its really fun too!!

My head still absolutely kills! But I think I am going to take another nap, play ddr for another 30 minutes, and keep cleaning. I don't really want to play DDR again, but I know I need to for my challenge. I had a heavy dinner, lots of carbs. So I feel guilty. But...I haven't had any junk! It will probably be much later on (the DDR) but it needs to get done.

I'm surprisingly having NO problem with this week's challenge of NO JUNK FOOD. It doesn't make sense to eat junk food during my diet anyways. I mean... Next time I go to cheesecake factory (when its not a week with no junk food) I will have a slice of cheesecake. lol. I resisted my favorite Godiva chocolate cheesecake. :drool5: Next time, I will. lol.

I'm not happy with my food today because its been so carby- and not much nutrition besides protein. Tomorrow will be better. And I'm not going to eat anything else today.

Well, I'm off to take my nap so I can have some energy for DDR again.

Hope you enjoyed your nap! Headaches bite the big one. You have my sympathy!!

You are doing so well Brandy!! :hurray: HOnestly, resisting pizza and cheesecake! I looooove cheesecake and that Godiva one sounds delish. You are kicking butt at this challenge. I'm very happy for you. :)

I tried taking another nap... it just didn't happen. I couldn't even sleep my head hurt so bad. I keep taking aspirin, but it doesn't help right now!! I don't like cheesecake. But this Godiva one... YUMMMMMM. Its so rich and chocolately!!! yummmm. Next time I go to the mall I will stop in there and maybe just pick up some cheesecake! I'm doing well with this challege, but I'm getting a tad impatient shedding the pounds.

The pounds will come off if you keep up the good eating and exercise. Don't worry.

Dan wanted doughnuts this morning. I refused to go, so I think I am going to do a few dishes, and then make him some eggs or something that he will like.

My goal today is to eat lighter than yesterday, and the day before. It was too carb-y for me.

I am hoping to bring Dan on a walk with me today, and if not, then its 1 hour of DDR.
