Brandy's Success Diary

Nice to know that you are getting a week that's both less busy and more energetic! Good to hear about the gym going so well too. :)

I need to go to the gym, and I was going to leave an hour ago, but I got lazy. I must hurry up and go before I put it off too late to go before work.

I'm thinking another day on a treadmill and I'll search around for some other cool things. The next time I'll be able to go after today won't be until Wednesday.

More incentive to get your ass over there!!!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I went to the gym, but only for an hour. I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.7 mph average, and then on a bike for 30 minutes at a 11.5 mph speed. I wish I could go back, but I have work tonight...unfortunately. lol. I'm not in a mood to work. I have allergies that give me bad headaches, and I can't seem to get rid of it. Tomorrow I am going on a day trip to RI with Danny, maybe I'll head to the gym later in the night when I get back. Tuesday I have a busy night so I won't be able to go, and Wednesday night I will definitely be there! I love being at the gym, it makes me feel like I'm taking steps forward. I need to get my eating under control. I feel bad about my weight today, and I really wish I could just go to the gym and push it for the rest of the night. I am going to take a quick nap before work, and then when i get home I will climb into a comfy bed and cuddle with my boy.

Work was crazy busy and went by relatively fast. Now I'm just covered in icecream and sweat cuz I never showered after the gym. EEW. I think I've figured out my gym schedule for the week.... or should I say I have figured out the days I have a couple of free hours to go. I will go tomorrow night after I get back from Rhode Island and work off whatever I eat. I look forward to going to the gym now. Its awesome. I like to exercise when others are doing it around me- its makes me want to push that much more.

So glad you are liking the gym! Glad you are finding time to go. You are so determined and I know it's going to pay off for you!
I hope your Monday went well!

It's good to hear that you are still getting fun from your membership. The trip to Rhode Island sounds like it would be fun too! How did it go?

Trip to Rhode Island was a lot of fun. We window shopped and bought a few small things for ourselves, went to lunch at Dave & Busters and then played video games in their arcade, and then we saw an IMAX 3D movie- Monsters vs. Aliens. It was such a WONDERFUL day. It was late when we got back, so I decided not to go to the gym.

Today I went to school, and then got out early so I got in a half hour INTENSE workout at the gym before heading to my mom's house to watch The Biggest Loser. I used the treadmill for 30 minutes, ran over 2 miles, and I walked between 3.7mph and 4.0 mph and then put in 4 full minutes (1 minute intervals) of running. First time I starting running it was at 5.0, the next 2 were at 5.5mph, and then I had 1 more interval (my last minute) at 6.0. It was amazing. My heartbeat went CRAZY, and something kept popping up on the screen saying my heartbeat was getting high- is that a bad thing??? My heart rate was a 215 at one point while/immediately after I was running.... I think that might be a bit dangerous, but I don't know. I am still really proud of myself. I did FRIGGIN' GREAT!!!

Tomorrow I have to go to get a used spare tire, and then head off to English class. Then after school I have a tiny bit of homework to do, and then I'll head to the gym for 2 hours or so. I'm doing great there, and I feel so inspired when I am surrounded by other people exercising and surrounded by all the useful equipment itself! If I were to be walking or jogging outside by myself- I would never push it that hard. The gym is doing for me what I hoped it would!!

That is absolutely fabulous! I'm not expert but I've never heard that a temporarily high heartbeat from intense exercise is dangerous in itself. I think it just means that you are getting the most you can out of the intervals, which is pretty much what HIIT is all about. I used to often get rates that were above what I was supposed to be able to have for my age. Nothing like as high as yours though! :D It does depend on your age - but 215 is high - in a good way I think. My understanding is that if your heartrate took an abnormal amount of time to return to normal, that would the area of concern.

It's sounds like you had a well deserved fabulous day and I'm glad that you're getting so much out of the gym too. That's fantastic. :)

Today has gone well so far, I got 2 tires replaced before school, and school itself was pretty fun. And now I'm taking some relax time before I go to the gym (in probably 2 hours). My work called me when I was not home and left a message to call them back, and I have a feeling they want me to come in to work.... and I do not want to because this is MY night. And I never have one of those!!! I suppose last Monday I had a fun day, but I want tonight too! I will call them, but I will call them MUCH later, like at 9:30pm or something- when I doubt they will need me. I can afford to only work 15 hours this week- so that what I want to do. I need plenty of time to do homework anyways.

My plans for my "ME" night: quick nap, dinner, the gym, watching a movie, reading a book, playing a computer game, and having a good night sleep.

Oh "Me Night"! What a great idea:) lol Everyone should make sure they get me time. I hope you enjoy your night!

GYM NIGHT WAS VICTORIOUS! I did 90 minutes on the treadmill at 3.6 mph. I pushed a few 4.0's and a run at 6.0mph. But my shins are starting to bother me, and I wanted to keep a pace that kept my heart rate up (I stayed in the 150's) and one that I could endure for a long time because I was watching a tv show while I walked and did not want to stop mid-show. lol. I burned about 575 calories! :D I experimented with incline as well. now I will throw some laundry in the wash for school tomorrow.

I remember the shin splints I had a year or two ago... and I don't want those again. I think they are happening this time because of a combination of over-work and over-weight. lol. I do not want to take a break, so tomorrow I am going to take my sister swimming at the gym with me, so I will get a little exercise in instead of none. If I am feeling better I will go back to my routine on Friday after school and before work, and if not I will go on Saturday after my dentist appointment.

I haven't weighed myself in a while, so I wonder if I've lost anything from my added exercise now. If not I will not be worried about it. I am trying to change my mindset with everything right now to keep me less stressed. I do care very much about my weight and my health... but I refuse to let it be something that bothers me and gets my self esteem down. I am proud of what I am doing by joining the gym and going regularly... and I eat SEMI healthy and have closely monitored my portion control. So if I lose weight then I am excited, and if not- I will just continue to work on it. I'm proud of myself no matter what, and I know I will start looking better eventually.

You are really doing great Brandy. Glad you are trying not to stress the numbers on the scale. Your health is getting better and better. Do beware of the shin splints though. I remember when you go them last time and you weren't able to do much because they hurt so much. The long haul is the most important and you don't want to put yourself out of commission! Swimming sounds great though:) I can't wait to swim.... or fit into my swimming suit!! lol

Thanks Mishi. I won't stop exercising, but I will take it easy. Today I got in 90 minutes of recreational swimming. I didn't do laps or anything but I swam around a lot. Another good day... tomorrow I have school early in the morning and then I want to get a quick gym session in, come home and watch a movie with Dan, then Shower and get ready for work myself. My weekdays off were incredible. :D I was out a lot :driving: between the gym, family's houses, school, errands, and day trips. But I love the way things are going! I absolutely FREAKIN love the gym. I don't have to go for that long, and I always want to push myself to either go longer or go harder. I don't have a plan when I go... its more just like.... "KEEP GOING, DO SOMETHING". I wanted to try jogging tomorrow, but I would rather stick to a brisk walking pace or biking and then work on stretching my shins.

All my diaries lately are boring... I am just very busy, and things happen but they are not exciting enough for me to write them out. Pretty much I am managing time between work, school, homework, the gym, and family time. My life seems like a ball of fun stress. That sounds weird, lol. But I have been having a blast no matter where I am, and even though most of those (all but the gym and family time) cause me a certain amount of stress every time I do them- I am having fun at the same time. At school I am with all my friends, doing homework I am usually watching a movie at the same time to keep me in a good mood, and at work I get to watch all the cooks, managers, and servers get all discombobulated with business while I get to be busy making ice cream-something that makes everyone happy! lol.

So far I have spent 5 hours and 45 minutes at the gym this week. Tomorrow will make it 1 week (Started last Saturday) since I started attending, and I have gone every day except for Monday. I've already lost 2 pounds! And I feel healthier too.

Now I am going to go get ready for school tomorrow.

No gym yesterday or today. I need a break because my shins hurt (why I didn't go Friday) and I fell at work last night and hurt my knees (why I didn't go today). I went to Borders and bought the Biggest Loser 30 day jump start. And I'm in the process of reading through it. I had lunch today as a recipe from that book, (ham, cheese, and egg white on an english muffin), and I'm going to follow the exercise plan as well.

Work tonight, like usual. I still have 4.5 hours before I need to go to work. This will include taking a nap, reading my book, preparing a dinner for myself tonight, and taking a long hot shower.

Yum lunch sounds good!!! I am so sorry you fell!! I fell down the stairs several weeks ago and it's just no fun. Especially since you hurt your knees!!! Would swimming on those days be too much or even biking? Just so you can get something less intense on your joints but keep up the exercise? I know swimming can take a long time though.
I hope you feel better soon!!

I am going to try to follow the 30 day jump start Biggest Loser plan. I won't be able to follow the meal plan exactly, but I can try and follow its guidelines for do's and don'ts. There is a progressive exercise plan, and even though I am already exercising I will add that to my routine.

I have so much homework to do this weekend for end of the semester... but that comes second to my health, so I will make sure to get a good gym time in today and tomorrow. I plan on using the treadmill, and then a bike. Maybe get some swimming in if I feel in the mood. When I get back have to do some homework and get ready for work tonight.

Well, I'm on my way to the gym for probably a 1 hour session. :waving:
