bootcamp or 24hrs fitness

folks, I could use some personal advise.

Here is a short description of me:
- female / 28 yrs
- 5ft2" / 142Lbs
- slow metabolism
- never played much of sports
- have had an arthroscopy done 3 yrs ago
- BMI of 25+

I am looking to get onto a fitness program and goal is to get better in shape [ fat hanging around triceps/thighs etc - typical female structure].
I am confused whether to join a bootcamp or 24hrs fitness + their personal instructor. I have read bad reviews of bootcamps being too harsh for starters like me and 24hrs fitness instructors being too "sales oriented" [ no offenses].
Any pointers or tips would be much appreciated.

Depending on your motivation - you could always start by walking and/or jogging to increase your basic level of fitness before starting a bootcamp program. Bootcamps generally are tough, but you do get the results. And as you said, a lot of the time, fitness instructors in the gyms are very sales/target orientated. Again, depending on your motivation, you could always get a good routine/program together or written up and follow it through yourself if you're strict enough on yourself to do so.

I agree. Prove yourself with low cost dedication, then spend money. Focus on diet and a walking or calisthenics.

When my wife was talking about buying some silly ab contraption off the TV I told she should stick to a simple core workout for a month, then we’ll invest in it. Sure enough the routine doesn’t stick and at least we didn’t spend the cash and have a hunk of plastic taking up space.

If you do join a gym, try monthly until you know you are going to stick. You may find you are happier without it.

Whatever you do stay on this forum and read the stickies. You can find a lot of helpful people here.

you dont need fancy classes and programs to loose fat. you just need to be dedecated enough to stick to it.
clsses and trainers are usually 1-2hour once or twice a week. You would be far better off doing 30mins a day.

if you enjoy it and ur happy to spend a bit of dosh, then do the fitness clubs or get a trainer, to supplement your lifestyle. but please dont fall in tot he trap of thinking that the clubs and trainers are whats going to help you.
