Boo's Weight loss diary!!!

Hey all :)

Under someone's recommendation I've decided to start a weight loss diary, any comments and constructive criticism are of course welcome :)

A little bit about me... I'm 20 years old, I live in England, UK, and I have a beautiful daughter. I've never been skinny, but in November 2009 I holidayed in Florida, USA, at my lowest weight of just over 160 lbs. I was well on my way to my weight loss goal (losing weight has always been a struggle for me but it seemed I was finally getting it sorted! The week after I got back from florida I fell pregnant with me daughter at the age of 19, and I put on a lot of weight. Now at 5'6" and weighing in at a starting weight of 240 lbs I am severely obese and I need to make a change for good and I'm hoping you can all encourage me to do it. I should be enjoying my life, not fearing for it.

My primary motivation is this: I would love to take my daughter to disney land florida in a few years time, and I want to be able to be a yummy mummy!! I want my daughter to be proud of her mummy and not embarassed by me, and most of all, I want to be around to see my daughter grow up.

So here goes, please bear with me as I'm new to this!

STARTING WEIGHT: 240 lbs.
TODAY'S DATE: 20/01/2011.
TODAY'S WEIGHT: 232 lbs.
WEIGHT CHANGE SINCE LAST WEIGH IN: 8 lbs.
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS: 8 lbs.
WEIGHT TO LOSE: 120 lbs.

So not a bad start! I'm going to try the following diet for the rest of the week, it's the diet my mum is on with a little bit added as she is shorter and has more to lose, so the doctor suggested I added a little bit of protein and good fats like those in nuts.

BREAKFAST: Actimel probiotic yoghurt drink, 150g Wholegrain yoghurt with a cup of raspberries and a cup of blueberries, 250ml Tropicana orange juice.

MORNING SNACK: Snack bag of dried fruit and mixed nuts, unsalted / unsweetened.

LUNCH: 2 wholegrain tortillas filled with a triangle of low fat cheese spread, lots of lettuce, cuccumber and half a pepper in each and a small sprinkling of seasoning, 1 banana for "dessert".

AFTERNOON SNACK: Apple.

DINNER: 100g extra lean pork fillet / fish fillet (no skin or coating), lots of cooked veggies.

BEFORE BED: 40 kcal options water-based hot chocolate.

So that's it! All comments appreciated!!

Thank you

Boo

Hey hun :)

What a great reason to want to get fit! Can I just ask something though--If your start weight is 240lbs and you say weight to lose is 120lbs..That means you want to be 120lbs? That's at the very low end of normal weight for your height and it might be better perhaps to aim for something a little higher--You don't want to look too skinny ;)

Also, do you know how many calories a day your diet it? Be careful not to go below 1200!

Welcome to the forum and good luck :D

That's a good point actually.. I was starting to look skinny at 11 st and my goal weight was 8 st but I've just found out my healthy weight is about 9 st 11 which is about 140 lbs so maybe I'll aim for that :) my diet is just over 1250 calories which is great although its now 3:50 PM UK time and I've hit that hunger barrier where its so tempting to raid the fridge or visit a fast food restaurant (unfortunately I live literally the building behind a road of fast food restaurants) so I've gotta try and work through it!!

Thank you for your support and I've seen your weight loss ticker and congratulations for the weight you've lost! I look forward to following the rest of your weight loss journey and best of luck :)

Welcome to the forum! I love your motivation to lose weight! I was 224 at my highest (a few years back now) and am currently around the 150 mark looking to get to 140 and I'm 5'6 as well. I agree with sunflower that 120 might be too low - you'll know when you get there though. Do you plan to incorporate some exercise too? I know it really helps speed things along and gives you that extra push when you need it. Looking forward to reading more!
Great start so far btw! Keep it up!!

yeah I go to the gym every evening that I can and I do my Wii Fit and biggest loser Wii game at home along side excercise DVDs and im going back to teach dance soon so hopefully that will help!!

Congrats on losing so much weight though!! I bet it feels great. What was your motivation?

Thank you for your support! Best of luck for those last 10lbs, you can do it!!

Thank you very much, it's great to have so much support!!

Bad day a couple of days ago. Got convinced by my better half to eat take-out pizza and icecream (a lot of it) so had a 2lb gain the next day. I spent the night worrying about it but then I thought, what's done is done, I'll put it right tomorrow, which I did. Yesterday I stuck to my diet perfectly and ignored all my temptations and stepped on the scales this morning to find I've knocked off those 2lbs so I'm back at 232, and I won't be doing that again in a hurry even though the pizza company bombarded my letterbox with coupons today. I've made my other half hide them so I'm not tempted.

I've found another motivation: my mum. She looks bigger than me and weighs bigger clothes but I just found out she's 3 stone less than I am and she's forked out a lot of money to do a special weight loss programme which I can't afford. So, as awful as it may sound, I'm determined to reach my goal weight before she does because I don't wanna be bigger than my mum!!

Thats all for now folks ;)

So yesterday I caught the dreaded tummy bug that my partner and daughter had earlier this week, and I can honestly say I havent been that ill in a VERY long time, it was HORRIBLE. However luckily it seemed to be a 24 hour thing because I'm feeling better this morning which is good and on the plus side I lost 5 lbs over night taking me down to 228 lbs!!! There's a plus side to everything

Awesome!... It's so hard for many people to get caught in the "All or Nothing" mindset when it comes to weight loss. I congratulate you on not kicking yourself for one bad meal, moving on and continuing your healthy diet starting the next meal. If you keep this mindset, you are so much more likely to not get discouraged and "fall off the wagon" at some point during your weight loss journey!

I'm sorry to hear that you were ill, but glad you're feeling better now!

Cheers,

P.
