Book Club

Well, I thought perhaps we could get a book club going here. Like we make some book suggestions and then vote on which one to read and then have some conversations about what we have read.

yaaaaayyy!!!
I love books!!!!
What do you want to read????What do you want to read????What do you want to read????What do you want to read????What do you want to read????What do you want to read????

well, I love the old classics, Farinheit 451 stuff like that. I'm big into sci-fi/fantasy. And I've read some romances, but I'm pretty picky about them, I like a little comedy with my romance. I also like some suspense/thrillers, but not too creepy ones. Like IT, freaked the heck out of me.

this sounds great, i hate to admit it but i love cheesy romance, but i am up for anything, some one make a suggestion!!!! and lets do it:p

I LOVE reading too. I'm in the midst of Down to This - squalor and splendour in a big-city shantytown by Shaughnessy Bishop-Stall - it's a non-fiction account of the year he spent living in Tent City in Toronto, ON. Phenomenal.

I like the sounds of The Virgin Suicides.

In another book club I'm in, we are just going to start reading a book called "A Child Called It" by David Pelzer.

I read that book, A Child Called It, and I didn't really like it. I thought it was sensationalist, and scattered, and boring. I felt for the guy, but thought he could have done a better job writing!

Just my 2 cents.

Another fantastic book is We Need to Talk About Kevin... riveting stuff. I can't remember the author... but it was a thrilling read.

Well, I'll weigh in on the book once I've read it, but I've never heard a bad thing about it from anyone else who's read it and I thought it got an award??

This is why I love forums!! Healthy debate.

It might have won an award... I read it a couple of years ago. I found that it heavily propogated for the church, maybe that's what rubbed me the wrong way.

I haven't read The Virgin Suicides yet, but I saw the movie and it was fantastic.

OOOOOHHHHH, pick me! Pick me!

I love to read! I have about 500 books upstairs and in the basement:eek: I love sci-fi, fantasy, romance, classics, some horror, true stories, etc. And I will try anything if someone recommends it.

We have a REALLY tiny library here, so there is a small chance whatever you pick, I might not be able to get:( But count me in anyway!

I have no suggestions right now...several people have thought they might like to try The Virgin Suicides. If we go with that, I'll have to check out the library.

How long are we giving ourselves to read it? I can finish a book in a day or two if I need to, but I might have to order one on interlibrary loan, and that can take a week or so.

Well I think that we need to for sure decide on the book because I am going to the book store tomorrow evening to pick up another book, so if we could all decide before then that would be great!

I havea bunch of books.

Who hasn't read the DaVinci Code?

Ok ok,

I have a serious suggestion: As For Me and My House by Ross,Sinclair.

This book would provide plenty of conversation and debate.
