body fat help please!!!

hi everyone.im trying to get into shape and i know my body fat percentage.i was just wondering if anyone knew of a site i can go to to figure out where to lose my body fat.all the places i go to just tell me the percent of body fat and im wondering to get a lower body fat where i lose it from? is there any measurements i can do that would tell me if im a few inches here or there too big that i need to lose body fat on? also i would like to stay the weight i am right now but in order to lose body fat i have to lose weight? after i lose the weight and body fat i want it to turn to muscle but i cant lose any more weight any help please thank you!!!
 
You can't spot reduce. You have to just lose overall body fat. And fat doesn't magically turn into muscle. You can lose fat and you can gain muscle, but you can't transform one into the other. If you're new to this, you won't have a hard time doing both at the same time. But as you get more experience, you will have to chose whether or not you want to focus on fat loss or muscle gain at a given time.
 
okay so can i lose body fat first then build muscle when im done? how would i go about doing that? will i have to lose weight to lose fat?i will gain the weight back when i start muscle building? sorry so many questions. i am actually new to this.i did start a workout program for myself a couple weeks ago. i do 45 minutes of cardio every other day and along with it i do 100 sit ups every other day.my diet most ppl would say is lacking but i think im on the right track.i eat 4-6 meals a day.low fat. ive added alot of protien from egg whites and tuna.umm i dont eat really ANY high fat foods.i do eat alot of cereal and oatmeal potatoes popcorn soups salad,veggies,rice,i dont eat hamburger or alot of fruit though. this is all ok? i eat 1500 cals a day even on days i workout but i actually lost a couple pounds...hopefully not muscle.i just want to tone up and have definition and lower my body fat.
 
1500 Calories? Are you 12?

Read the stickies in the forums to get you started. And your list of what you eat and don't eat. Not good. Ditch the cereal(Not I don't care what kind), popcorn, white potatoes, rice. And eat fruit. Oh and FAT? Yeah you need fat. Cut your carbs back but love your fat. Egg whites? ugh! Eat the whole egg. Don't be scared of fat. Eating good fats did not cause you to gain fat. Eating crap did.


Cardio and situps every other day is not a program. It is cardio and situps. Do you have access to weights? If so find a good full body routine. If not, google "Death By Bdyweight"


And read...knowledge is the key. Start
 
You seem pretty confused. As Ride On said in his post, you cannot spot reduce. So you cannot exercise in a particular way to lose fat in a specific area, it just dosent work like that.
You've asked whether you should lose body fat first and then build muscle? My answer would be no. Get a good strength training routine, I say this, because the more muscle you have on your body, or the more active your muscles are, the more easily your body will be able to burn fats.
The fact you're only getting 1500 calories per day even when working out suggests that you are probably losing muscle mass rather than body fat. This occurs because you trick your body and make it think you're starving, so it tends to hold onto fat for survival and you lose muscle instead. So there is a fine line where a lot of people seem to get lost. You should increase your intake, keep it healthy, get a good strength program and stick to it and you should notice your body fat decreasing... remember to give it time!!!

alright i think im getting a better picture.i need to add some fat and fruit to my diet. i really have to give up cereal though uggg thats my favorite thing.im always craving sugar and it helps to have my cereal...lol.
as for cals i looked it up before and for being 5 foot 8 and 115 pounds it says my requirements are only 1300 so i figured by adding a couple hundred to that it was good. how much fat am i supposed to be eating in a day? ok well ima look up some of the sites you guys gave me and post again.for weights i have just the 2 pound dumbells..lol.
the cardio i started is the tae bo amped so i have the bar also that weighs 3 pounds...im guessing your laughing about now cause thats not enough weight. thanks for your posts.bbl

That is seriously underweight. You need to eat MORE and you should hit some real weights. Forget the 2 lb or 3 lb whatever you have. Join a gym. Shoot for 1g/lb of your target bodyweight in protein, which be somewhere in the 160 range for now. I would say you can up the calories to at least over 2000. As you gain weight, you can increase them. Don't worry so much about how much of the rest of your diet comes from carbs or fat, rather just make sure they are smart choices.
 
im 24 years old (female) didnt know if you knew that cause when i was reading last night it really seemed like they were talking about men.2000 cals huh.jeeze i dont even know how i would fit that in. some days i have to make myself eat what i already eat cause im not that hungry.should i just start eating it right away or work my cals up slow? i dont want to be bulky.as for joining a gym...i cant afford it haha but i do have some other resources. i can use my cousins weight bench and i have heavy things around the house.i see ive been eating all wrong and i didnt accurately check my bmr. at least i didnt put that i was active. im pretty active in general. i have 3 children of my own and my boy friend has 2 so im always doing something..lol umm also about how much should i be lifting? 20-30 pounds? my upper body is pretty weak i cant even do a normal push up. i can do about 10 female ones though(calves up).i also was reading on the meats thing and im not sure my body can even digest a steak haha.i dont think ive eaten beef in like 10 years. i was a lil girl anyway.for meats am i ok with chicken turkey tuna salmon ham? those are the meats that i actually eat.this is a little overwhelming now alot of things i need to change but im willing to do it.i want it badly enough. anyway i will be on later...gonna read up some more on exercise and weights.you guys help alot more than any of the places i go on the web though...seems like every place has a different answer..grr. thank you!
 
You just need to build muscle. Shoot for 1,500 - 1,900 calories a day if you can. If you don't eat meat.. buy some whey protein and drink that once or twice a day.
 
I didn't know you were a female, so that does change things. But I still would recommend upwards of 1800-1900 calories a day. The meats that you listed are good choices.

Read that link that tenpercent posted and if you have questions after that, come back with them.
 
do the cardio at least 30 minutes after weight traning. it works dude
