BMI Says I am fat

I am a 30 year old male..work out 4-5 days a week..very little fat..on my stomach..I tell people that I diet/watch what I eat..they tell me I am crazy and have nothing left to lose..I don't eat junk food just in general
My BMI is 25.2..I am 5'9 and about 172.
Am I overweight? I do have some muscle..I do have sort of a V shape

BMI doesn't mean much, if you're muscular then you're going to have a high BMI. Try and find out what your body fat % is as that's a far better indicator of your physical state than BMI

This is a basic Body Fat Calculator. Enter your Weight, Height and Waist Size.

It'll give you an idea but is of course by no means accurate.

Normally I'd say those online calculators are useless but it made my BF% out to be 14% so I think it's far more accurate than the scales :D

It tells me I'm now 13.4% ... which is nice. I will find out a little more accurately on Tuesday as I will have it measured with a slightly more scientific method.

Didn't you say you thought you were in the low 20%'s?

But yea. I think 14% is much more accurate, I saw your picture and couldn't believe you were 20%

wow I'm impressed according to that I'm at 11.38%

Last time I had it checked it was 11.8%

Too bad its all in my gut LOL

I put in my old weight at 238 lbs with a 38" waist and it said I'm 15.89%. I don't agree with that.

lulz, 10.69%. Riiiight.

If I measure it around the widest part of my waist, instead of the narrowest (like you're supposed to), I get 19.81%, which is pretty accurate. 'Bout half a percent high.

It appears I have lost 6 inches on my waist since a couple months ago. Neat. :D

Edit: Hmmm. Supposedly, I have 21.5 lbs of fat to go before I'm at 6%. This could get... not fun.

I got 8.37% which is the closest I have seen with these rather rediculous internet BMI calculators. Its is still about 1.2% off from the powerful and all knowing DEXA.

Best wishes to ALL!

BLAST OFF AND ROCK ON TODAY!..........every day, day in and day out. Weak after week, month after month, and year after year, and your goal will be near and you will have nothing to fear.........!!! He, he! :)

Edit: OH! I forgot! You could ROCK-ON one extra day if its a leap year!.......:)

Best wishes

6" thats pretty good dude.

Thanks homesicle. I think it's about right-ish. 25 lbs, 6" off the waist.

I definitely feel you on 'too bad about it all being in the belly'. Around my spare tire region is the very first place I add fat, and the last to go. I'd say of the remaining 19%, 10% is love handles and belly, the other 9% is evenly distributed through the rest of me.

Hopefully, I lose the last 13% like so: -9% from the waist, -4% everywhere else. :p

I must be taller than you, I've lost 25lbs as well but only 4" of waistline. Yup spare tire all the way man. I can barely pinch fat under my arms or on my thighs. LOL

Dude you are probably half a foot or more taller than me. I'm 5'10" on a good day. So if anything, your results are better. :)

Chillen

probably a coincidence that it got so close :p

I'm 22 according to that. Pretty much the same those bf scales says I am :p You guys need to learn how to let your bellies go so you get potbellies!

Has me at 15.64%. I have absolutely no idea if that's accurate, but if it is it's one helluva lot better than the 20+% I was at when I started this journey.

5'7" & 43 years old
Started: 200 lbs. and a 37 inch waist...very little muscle
Currently: 180 lbs. and a 34 inch waist...muscles? Yes, I have muscles!!!

To the original poster...the advice given for a more scientific method makes sense to me. I've looked at a bunch of different online calculators, and have seen varying responses with the same vital stats plugged in to each. Good luck to you.

jeez, 10% focus? What is your waist size?

32". It's really disproportionate, as you've seen in the pics. I've always had hyoogee love handles, and a big lower gut. Here let me show you something:

That's 25 lbs lost. The second pic is one of my ****ty V Diet Round 1 pics, brightened. Since apparently none of you could be bothered to take 3 seconds to gamma correct. :p
