Bizarre Muscle Pain

I am training to run a 10k in April.

I have been running on the treadmill for about 35 minutes every other day at 6.2 mph (the other days I run on the elliptical, but have never had this problem with just elliptical use). I also do weighted lunges and squats and some other leg exercises every other day.

I know what my quads feel like when they are sore, but I have been having pain in the front area of my hips. This is definately not my quads. I can't even figure out what muscle this might be. The pain does feel like muscle pain and not anything serious.

Has anyone else had this happen? The pain is bothersome enough that it makes me not want to run on the treadmill (I can still do the elliptical). I do force myself to run, but it sucks. it doesn't make the pain worse but it doesn't get better either.

Any advice on exercises I can do to strengthen whatever muscle is hurting or otherwise stop the pain.

Thanks.

Your hip flexors?

Always check with a doctor over a forum for medical advice. You may be over exerting them with all the leg exercises you are doing. Try tossing in some rest days to let things recover, and make sure you are stretching well.
