Birthday Dilemma

My stepson's 7th birthday is on Thursday November 1st. I want to send him something at school since we can't be there with him that day. He lives 13 hours away. I thought maybe a candy basket with balloons but it's the day after Halloween so he's going to have plenty of candy. We will be in Ohio this weekend with him throwing a party at the local bowling alley with pizza and treats so I need something that's not going to be super expensive. Any suggestions??

Does the school have any restrictions on what you can or can't do? Before you get too creative, I'd check to make sure that they won't put the kaibash on it... too many schools go too far on the side of "protecting the children" at the expense of fun... especially with kid allergies an all...

So are you looking for something to do at school on the date of his birthday -in addition to the party he's getting?

Clowns freak me out... so I couldn't suggest that...

What about sending in cupcakes that the kids can decorate themselves?

I decided to just send a balloons. 2 mylars and 3 latex. Everything else was just too babyish or girly for me to send. He already has trouble making friends, he's very timid, so I didn't want to embarrass him. He's a good kid.

Balloons are cool :) and gives him just enough attention :) very thoughtful - hope his party was fun..

I was reading in the paper yesterday about a lot of restrictions schools have on halloween costumes, one school actually put a restriction on balloons -because a student and a janitor had a "life threatening" latex allergy... I've heard of latex allergies before - i've never heard of one being life threatening...

I've heard of people being allergic to latex. I've always wondered how that affected their sex life. Condoms? Imagine what that allergic reaction looked like! Lol!!

Okay that's wasn't nice to joke about. :)

dated a guy who was allergic to latex - to be sure he had a test before hand :) lambskin was his alternative but that doesn't do much for protection against some diseases...

the allergic reaction is a very itchy skin rash- one ofthe girls I walked with for the 60 mile walk had a latex allergy and had a really bad blister -the rocket scientists inthe medical tent gave her a non-latex free bandaid and made the problem a lot worse...

I dont remember the source but sometimes people with latex allergies are also allergic to bananas -there's some tie in there

Really? Wow, that's weird. That poor woman with the bandaid. I think alot of doctors are total retards. Being booksmart doesn't mean you have common sense.

and the stupid part was she asked the medic no less than 5 times if it was latex free - her credentials also specified that she had the allergy so if she wasn't being clear her credentials should have been.. .:)
