BikiniBound's Diary

It is great that a price has been agreed. The vendor must be really pleased that you have got it sold so quickly. You are probably thinking "why cant they all be like that".

Strange thought: If I know you - you will be really curious as to what your weight is as soon as the baby is here. Are you going to take your scales to the hospital with you - so that you can hop on and satisfy your curiosity? Will you be able to wait until you get home to find out? I know that my scales are more accurate than the ones at my doctors - so you can never be really sure about other scales....

You will either think "what a good idea" or laugh your socks off at the notion - either way it was worth me mentioning it......

Well they may think you're looney tunes in the hospital hehe. IMO, the weight after birth is sort of meaningless because it takes a few weeks for all the fluids to be released. So I would say you're "real after-birth weight" will be about 3 weeks after. That's when the "hard part" started for me and the weight stopped just flying off (actually had to count cals and work out after that grrr).

Margaret and Claudia--I will probably weigh myself at the hospital just out of curiosity, you know me. :D

Today's midwife appt went well--depending on how you look at it..lmao. They did a non-stress test which was good--baby's heart rate is fine, my blood pressure is fine. The ultrasound showed the amniotic fluid levels are good. When the midwife came in she asked if I'd been having any contractions--braxton hicks. I said maybe 3 over the last week. She then looked at the tape from the fetal monitor and told me that I had two contractions during the NST..lol. Well, I didn't even feel them--or if I did, I just thought it was baby moving around in there..lol.

However, I am not any more effaced than I was last week, and only dialated about a fingertip. Also, the baby hasn't dropped yet. So, she highly doubts I'll have the baby this week--more likely next week. She said all looks good, so there is no need to talk induction at this point. She said we'll see how things are at my next appt on Monday, and schedule and induction at that time for later in the week if I still haven't had the baby. She said they usually only have 1-2 inductions per month, so that made me happy that they are not induction happy, as I really want to avoid one unless absolutely necessary.

So I guess that means you can all plan on seeing me around here for awhile..haha. :biggrinjester:

I'm hoping for you that that little one makes his appearance sooner!

I had a nst with my first one, and I guess I was having some contractions. I was overdue anyway, so they kept me.

Yeah inductions are no fun at all. I'd rather let nature take it's course unless something is not progressing like it should.

My doctor was induction happy and I regret it so very very much because I believe it caused me to have a c-section, which is horrible. Try to wait it out if its safe for the baby. I was so fed up with the whole thing I must admit I was in a rush too. And got a bit scared about everything at that point and wanted my baby safely there already. Dumb dumb move.

I bet you are getting really impatient now.....

Not really. I'm happy to have the time to get work things organized now that I have this pending sale going. It'll leave less work for the lady covering for me in my absence.

I think family and friends are more impatient than I. :biggrinjester:

It very well may have been the cause. Inductions are usually brought on by a pitocin drip. Pitocin makes contractions stronger and more painful than when they are brought on naturally. This makes most women get an epidural, which greatly restricts their mobility and can often slow down labor's progress--in which case most OBs will strongly recommend a c-section. Don't know if that's what happened to you, but it happens a lot.

David and I watched a documentary last week that Ricki Lake helped make. It's called "The Business of Being Born," and it's really interesting. It's basically an abbreviated film version of what I've been reading up on the last nine months. It talks about the history of childbirth and how it's gone from being mother/child centered and natural to medicalized and convenient for the OBs who like to run the show--and most of whom do not care for midwives b/c they make them look bad with their low rates of intervention and c-sections. All I can say is that I am soooo glad I chose the midwife route. I might even do a home birth with the next one depending on how this one goes. I know people think it's unsafe to deliver at home, but it really isn't. There are no statistics that prove hospital births are safer than home births for low-risk women, and a much higher percentage of women die in childbirth in hospitals than at home. The U.S. has the 2nd highest rate of maternal mortality in the industrialized world. And 99% of them deliver in hospitals compared to countries like the Netherlands where 30% deliver at home with a midwife, and 75% deliver with a midwife (either at home or in a hospital). Usually only high risk women use OBs in European countries, and their maternal and infant mortality rates are much lower than ours. Their c-section rates are much lower in general as well.

See what you got me started on? :biggrinjester:

I'm glad "running late" or being overdue or whatever it's called doesn't bother you. It would have driven me nuts! LOL! Both of mine came early.

You sound upbeat so I take it that everything is going good. I can't wait to see pics of the baby! :D Just wait until you hold him/her for the first time...

I'm going to cuddle up with my memories now. You make me want another one!

So it is just us lot that are impatient then!!!

Quick - if the baby is another week coming into the world you may have time to sell another house. It only took you a week to sell the last one! :biggrinjester:

I wish I could, but I really don't have anything else going right now--the other set of buyers seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth. I think maybe they bought something with another realtor. Oh well.

I found out that it looks like this closing in April will put me on the next commission level--where I get 10% more from each closing. Unfortunately, at the end of each year it starts back at zero, and my year begins May 1st. There's no way I'll get another sale in to get the extra commission, and now have to start all over. I thought we all started over at the beginning of the calendar year. So now my brilliant success since the beginning of the year is diminished in my eyes. :cuss:

Congratulate yourself for getting up into the next level anyway. That is a great achievement in a difficult market - and you have had other major issues like the pregnancy (and parental health) to deal with. It is a shame that it will not bring the financial rewards that it deserves this time round - but maybe next year will work out well. You are doing so well to be pulling the rabbit out of the hat in terms of sales at this stage in your pregnancy when most women would be at home with their feet up accomplishing nothing in their career.

Have confidence in your ability to keep your winning streak running and you may well manage to start the next business year with a chain of great deals that really help out financially.

Keep your eyes open you just need one property to sell and one serious buyer to walk through the door and you could have another deal on your hands if they are the right fit.

Margaret--Yes, I am thinking like you said. :D Trying to put a positive spin on things..lol I should be happy I can still work and make $$. My co-worker who had a baby in Sept said she couldn't even drive the last couple of weeks before she delivered--and she had her baby at 39.5 weeks. Of course, she is very petite and small framed whereas I am tall and large framed. Makes it easier to lug 30 extra lbs around. :)

Got to the gym today. That makes twice this week. They were surprised to see me there and still preggers..lol.

I also finally got some lavender oil to use during labor. It's supposed to be calming and also help prevent tearing when massaged into the perineum. TMI? :biggrinjester:

Also ordered some more cloth diapers. These just became available today, and I got a pretty good deal on them. Got one of each color plus extra soaker pads. Plus I already have 6 white Bum Genius 3.0s
I think cloth diapers have really come a long way from what they were when I was growing up. Neither of these require plastic covers--they are already waterproof. I should save a bundle of money and help the environment by using them.

We are pleased to see that you are getting full value for money with your gym membership fees.

Any day now your washing line will be a long row of nappies.... :)

There will be no washing line of nappies as our condo association does not permit them. So into the dryer they will go. :)

Still no baby. :toetap05: I ate shrimp for dinner last night b/c two girlfriends swore it sent them into labor. Didn't work, although a co-worker told me today she thinks I've dropped since she last saw me a few days ago. So that is promising. :)

He'll be here soon enough! I keep checking in on you to see if he's decided to make his appearance!

I guess baby likes the drama..lol

Congrats to the Michigan State Spartans on making the NCAA Final Four--their 5th final four in 11 years--the most trips of any team in the nation during that span.

Now they have to beat UConn to get to the finals.

It sounds like SweatPea knows something about baby gender that I dont know. Is it still a surprise or did someone cave in and find out while I was MIA?

I think that it is short-sighted of the condo board to refuse washing lines. It is much the sounder solution for the environment (not to mention being cost effective) - and there is nothing to stop a fenced off area being used to separate the washing lines from the more picturesque aspects of the surroundings. I actually think that a line of washing looks quite nice in a garden on a summer day. Dont get me wrong - I do have a dryer and I am happy to use it - but I have a washing line too that I sometimes use if the weather is good.

It is a shame that the shrimp did not have an effect. Lets hope that something happens naturally before too long. If I remember right you are seeing your midwife today. I hope that it goes well.

We still do not know the gender, but we suspect a boy. My gran has had two dreams that it's a boy, and her dreams seem to be very accurate--she predicted all three of her sons via dreams--even when she desperately wanted the 3rd boy to be a girl..lol. And a good gf who has only been wrong once also thinks it's a boy. So...we shall see.

I am pretty sure the baby dropped overnight. I had some major braxton hicks around 2 am, and then when I got up, felt a ton of pressure down there that wasn't there before. I have a midwife appt this afternoon, so we shall soon see what progress (if any) has been made. :)
