BikiniBound's Diary

So this is possible? I was hoping that was the case. I'm sure it doesn't make the sale of my home attractive but there's not much more I can do unless I do some sort of bridge loan and that's not something I want.
What you can do if you have to list your home is say that if that house sells first, you are taking yours off the market. Once you have a binding agreement with a buyer, that should remove the contigancy from your other deal so that you wouldn't be homeless.

If I do it before I sell my house, that means I could by paying for inspection and could still lose the house to another buyer, since they sellers are not willing to wait for me to sell my house.

This is true, but since you are worried that it's such an old house there might be things that come up in the inspection that would make you want to back out, I think the best thing to do is to get them done so you know where you stand. Obviously, if it turns out you don't want that house after all, you'll save yourself a lot of headaches by finding that out at the beginning rather than after you've gone to the trouble to sell your current home. I know it's a lot of $$ to shell out for possibly nothing, but I think it's the wisest course to follow.

Then, if the inspections are to your satisfaction, you can move ahead with plans to sell your house--and if you have a buyer lined up already, things should move swiftly after that, and smoothly as well. :)

Hey BB, I take it the tea didnt work, lol...sorry abt that. That is excitign news abt the closing and being able to move in in abt 2 -3 weeks and beign able to shop for everythign, so cool! I hate shopping although if I couled afford to and had the opportunity I think I would love to shop to furnich my place the way i would want it to be.

Sleeping or trying to sleep with sunburns sucks...are you waking up lots due to having to pee cuz of baby or the sunburn or a combo of both ?

Hey there Kimberly,

Sorry to hear of your sunburn. I've been pretty lucky this summer and only got a little pink just once... It takes a lot for me to burn actually... All I could think to recommend is that aloe vera gel stuff, and I usually keep mine in the fridge so it's nice and cold, if I need it.

Most of my friends read a lot about pregnancy with their first kids, so I think it's pretty common. Always good to read up on the miracle of life and how it affects your body,etc...

BTW, this is my 1000th post!!!! I'm finally a senior member :)

Steve--Nah, it's not so bad here. We get milder weather here thanks to Lake Michigan--just more lake effect snow. :D

Cerella--Don't feel bad about the tea. Nothing else has worked either. :biggrinjester: The constant waking up is due to needing to pee due to baby, and the pain from sleeping too long on one sunburnt side..lol. I did manage to get a bra on for a few hours today, so that is a good sign. :biggrinjester:

Sam--Congrats on you 1000th post! Aloe vera in the fridge is a good idea.

I doubt that many pregnant women read books outside of the mainstream, though--like one written by a midwife for example. Most women I know go into labor expecting to have an epidural without trying to do it without, and some even prefer to have a c-section without even trying to deliver vaginally. To each their own I guess, but I just don't get that. I'm sure they'd think I was nuts for wanting to do it my way. :biggrinjester:

Got the condo utilities changed over today, as well as homeowners insurance. It is pretty cool, b/c with the multi-line discount we get, the money we'll save on our auto insurance will pay for the condo ins plus an extra $100 per year.

I've heard the documentary Ricki Lake just put out is very good. It shows her doing her home birth but I hear she isn't really preachy on doing it that way. She just wants to show women all the different options there are and have the choice be theirs.

I remember my cousin was trying to do a home water birth and was in labor for awhile. I guess she wasn't dialating quickly enough or whatever and they ended up having to take her to the hospital and she had to get a C-section. She's only like 5'2'' and her husband is 6'6'' and her baby was over 10lbs.... She's pregnant again now and ready to deliver any day. This time a girl.

Congrats on all the savings with the multi line insurance policies. My insurance agent for my renter's insurance keeps trying to get me to put my car insurance with him but, his quote is always too high and never works for me...

I planned to not have an epidural with my two, and was fortunate that I was able to get through without it.

My two reasons for not wanting it was : 1.Not really wanting a needle in my back-EEP! and 2. I hear they prolong the labor process in most cases. For me? I want it done and over with asap LOL.

You are going well then? I loved being pregnant.

It's great that you are getting everything organised for the condo. It is a bit strange how you enjoy getting the keys to a new place when it means spending so much money - but I think that it is the anticipation of what lies ahead.

Well done on getting a good deal on insurance.

I can understand how the sunburn would be making you drink more and therefore pee more (since a burn will surely have dried the skin) - but am surprised that your baby is having an effect on that yet. It must be really tiny - all things considered. When you consider how much fat we (and especially I) have carried around over the years - the baby must be of comparitively negligible size at this stage.

Ok my wonderful friends....D doesn't want to tell anyone yet, but since you all are already in the loop about my late period, you might as well know that I'm pregnant!! Took the test this morning and both strips turned blue immediately. :hurray: So my due date is March 21st.

Now I'm really wishing I'd been more disciplined with losing weight these last few months. Oh well. But I am going to do my best not to overeat and put on a lot of weight. My research tells me that someone of my weight doesn't need to gain the 25-35lbs recommended for normal weight women. More like 15lbs.

Well I go away for a lil while and looky what happens! Congrats Kimberly!:hug2:
That is great that you're going to have a baby! And to top it off you're moving into a condo ?? Wow you've been on a tear while I've been gone *L* I hope everything goes smoothly for you! I guess you'll have to start eating in an entirely new way now. And some morning :puke: *L*
Anyways I just wanted to pop in and see how you were. Take care and I'd say for having a bun in the oven you get .... :pumpkin::pumpkin::pumpkin::pumpkin:

I don't advocate women having home births unless they feel comfortable with that. I just don't like all the drugs/IVs etc. It seems so unnatural to me.

Yarm--Congrats on not getting the epi..lol. I agree with your reasons. I watched the anesthiologist put the epidural in my cousin, and vowed I'd never get one. I don't like the idea of a needle being threaded up my spine. Way too scary. I'd rather have the pain. :D

Margaret--Having to pee more frequently actually is something that affects nearly all pregnant women early on. I wondered why, and found the answer in one of my books. I know that in the 3rd trimester it makes sense b/c the baby is pressing on the bladder, etc. But in the first trimester hormones trigger an increase in urine flow and the efficiency of the kidneys improves, making the body rid itself of waste more quickly. Also, the uterus is growing rapidly in this stage, pressing on the bladder and leaving less storage space. This pressure is usually relieved in the 2nd trimester when the uterus rises into the abdominal cavity, and doesn't usually return until the 3rd trimester when the baby's head drops into the pelvis. One of the things the nurse told us in the preg class was that we were probably already noticing an increase in trips to the bathroom. We all nodded in unison. :)

Paul--Glad to see ya around! I was wondering where you've been. Can't wait for a few Sat pm football chats again. :D I see the Dawgs are still ranked #1 going into the season. :hurray: Yup, H finally knocked me up...haha.

Well, we are half closed on the condo..lol. Some last minute bullshit was sprung upon me and had to be worked out. We signed all the docs today, and just have to wait for the seller to sign a couple tomorrow. Then all should be good. Needless to say, though, it was a terrible afternoon having to deal with that stress. I was a mess--so pissed and I think pregnancy hormones kicking into overdrive. :ack2: So I had my little crying jag and dealt with the situation..lmao.

Our sunburns have turned from painful to itchy and peeling--huge pieces of skin coming off..lol. We are a couple of flakes--but y'all knew that already. :smilielol5: Still, I'll take itchy over pain anyday. :)

Fascinating info on why you should be peeing more already. I hate to think how much you are peeing because I seem to spend my whole life peeing now that I am trying to drink 3 litres of water a day (trying to sort out the damned water retention that I get plagued with). Damned hormones make us jump through hoops sometimes.

Sorry that there was a small last minute glitch with the condo going through. I am sure that it will be resolved very soon - but can thoroughly understand your upset over it.

Itchiness certainly does beat pain. Witch hazel may help that too.

Sunburn and stress on top of pregnancy?!?! You poor thing!!! I'm with Margaret, witch hazel might help--if anything, it is soothing. I have an aloe vera plant that I can just grab a piece and rub right on me. Sticky goodness!

Take care, MOM!!! :D

Too bad you are so far away from me. My 7 yr old loves to peel- she did me a few weeks ago after my bout with sunburn. I actually enjoyed it myself! Maybe I was a monkey in a past life?
:smilielol5:

Sorry about the crying jag. Those hormones have gotta be tons of fun, lol... I just watched "Knocked Up" the other day and it made me think of you ;) (just the being pregnant for the first time part, lol)...

Hang in there,
Sam

Margaret, Sam, Val and Yarm thanks for stopping by. :hug2:

The condo is ours!! Picked up the keys this morning.

Tomorrow we get to work. :D

Sunburn is still peeling and itchy, but it's fine.

Today is my mom's 59th birthday, so we went out for dinner. I had chicken fajitas that were very tasty, and not too bad calorie-wise.

Weight is back down to 220 today, so that pleased me.
