BikiniBound's Diary

I am pleased that you and Dawn had a fun day out. The food sounds really good. I have just spend a minute staring at the list and feeling so envious. In my eyes you were moderate in that you stopped at two slices of bread with peanut butter. I think that I would have gone on. I am really not good at stopping once I start anything like that.

That is really terrible that woman would leave that poor cat locked in the wardrobe. Thankfully it was found sooner rather than later. I would have tracked that tenant down and pressed charges for animal cruelty. That shit pisses me off!! :cuss:

If only we could have tracked down the tenant! She still owes us thousands of pounds in damages and solicitors have tried numerous times to locate her and have not managed it. She never had any intention of behaving properly - as she was telling the neighbours within a week or two of moving in that we would be evicting her eventually! There was a guarantor for the let but the letting agent left a loophole in their standard letting agreement and we did not get it independantly checked out by a solicitor. The guarantor covered just the back rent which she owed (she never paid her rent). The guarantor did not have to cover damages to the property. The deposit was a drop in the ocean compared to the damage that she did. A door and window had to be replaced. Another two doors were damaged. They had been playing with air guns in the house and holes were shot into the plaster walls and fire surrounds. Loads of carpets were removed or condemned as beyond cleaning. Kitchen units were damaged beyond repair. Kitchen worksurfaces were damaged (new - installed during her tenancy). The toilet and shower were broken. The list goes on......

Some people are just very bad people!

I am pleased that your weight came down to 217. Despite all the walking - I am sure that you will not be too surprised if your weight goes up a little after a meal like that!

Had alot of fun running around Amishville with you yesterday. :sifone:
I think my most favorite part was by far the lunch!
I actually was only up 2 pounds from yesterday and considering I got up at 2am (couldn't sleep) I probably would have been down a bit more!
Hope your having a great day.
Ciao

How far is the Amish area to your house? That's nice that you and Bellaryna were able to meet. Were you each how the other expected?!

The only reason I didn't eat more bread was b/c I knew the other food was coming soon and didn't want to be too full of bread to eat it..lol

Wow! I guess they are bad. Has that turned you off ever being a landlady again? I wouldn't blame you if it did. At least that insurance got you the back rent owed. I know of people who had simiar tenants but never got the back rent--and still had all the repairs to make. What is the maximum deposit over there? Here it cannot be more than 1.5 times the monthly rent. So if the monthly rent is $1,000, the max deposit is $1,500.

I'm happy Detroit won! :)

Glad to see you're back down to 217, too. :)

I'm happy detroit won, too--not that you weren't already aware of that. :D

Back up to 219lbs today, but that's no big surprise. :blush5:

Brandy--The food was really good. As the Amish don't drink or imbibe in any other vices, high fat delicious food is one area they really excel in. :D

Dawn--Sorry you couldn't sleep. I'd have thought all that food and walking would've worn you out. I know I didn't have any trouble hitting the hay last night. Funny you were up 2lbs, b/c I was too..lol

Claudia--It was a 1hr 50min drive from my house--so not too bad. Since I'd seen lots of pics of her and spoken to her on the phone a few times already, plus all the chatting on the forum, she was pretty much what I expected. I don't know if she feels the same way. :)

Hmmmmnn that's interesting. Just asked cuz Sheryl was quite different in person than online. In a nice way but she was different that what I expected. We had a great time visiting too.

The only reason I didn't eat more bread was b/c I knew the other food was coming soon and didn't want to be too full of bread to eat it..lol

I kind of tend towards the attitude that you can never be too full of bread. On Saturday I filled up with garlic bread but was able to resist things like cake and chocolate biscuits.

I dont know what the maximum deposit over here is - but I know that the deposit which was relevant to that tenancy was 1 month of rent.

At the time I swore that we would never rent out again. I have softened slightly in that attitude.

Local housing associations have a responsibility to house people in certain circumstances. They gained the property portfolios from many local authorities (councils) through local authority restructuring. Margaret Thatcher gave council tenants the right to buy back in the early 80s. Many properties were sold off due to this and were not replaced. This means that housing associations do not have enough stocks and need to rent from private landlords. They stand between the private landlord and the tenant and they take on the commitment to pay the rent and the responsibility to maintain the general state of a property (other than what would be classed as wear and tear) - not upgrading but making sure that it does not deteriorate. They then deal with their tenant to ensure that they get rent in and that the property is kept ok.

I would not be comfortable in renting out on the open market but would rent out to a housing association. I believe that you rent out for 5 years at a time and you do not get as high a rate as you would probably get otherwise.

As the Amish don't drink or imbibe in any other vices, high fat delicious food is one area they really excel in.
I think that I must be spiritually an Amish person at heart. High fat delicious food does more for me than any drugs or alcohol ever could.

Hi Lover...its been a while.

Fun with the Amish ... don't go and swap the forum for the colony just because the food is good. LOL!

Glad to see you are doing fabulous despite the commision loss. Sucky, suck, suck. That IS crappy news.

Ohhh ...kitttty. That is hard to resist. How many cats do you have?

Now how's that for a shotgun posting!!!

Give scalentino a kiss for me if he's being a good boy!

Sam--you should see all the crap I ate today. :blush5:

Claudia--I expected Sheryl to sound like some tough ghetto biotch..lol. But she sounded like a sweet little girl...LMAO! Is that what you thought?

Margaret--Shall I bring you over an Amish dress and cap? :biggrinjester: Perhaps an Amish cookbook so you can gain back all the weight you've lost?

Paul--Thanks, you too!

Lemon--I have two cats--well, WE have two cats. I really only consider one to be mine.

The listing going off the market did suck, but the sellers dropped off a nice flower bouquet to my office yesterday with a note thanking me for all my hard work. It's nice to be appreciated.

Never fear, as intriguing as I find the Amish, I would go through serious internet/TV withdrawal. Not to mention the lack of booze and indoor plumbing, AC, etc. :willy_nilly:

My weight was 218 today, but I'm sure it'll be higher tomorrow. I totally pigged out today. I was just so hungry. :blush5: At least I exercised.

Tomorrow I am going to be the maid of honor in a wedding..lmao. The bride is the DIL of a co-worker. She is Chinese, just came over a few months ago and doesn't really know anyone. Since I've met her a few times, and gone out to dinner with her and her soon-to-be H (co-worker's son), they asked if I'd be the MOH. :D There are no other bridesmaids in the wedding party. I am wearing a dress I wore a few years ago as a bridesmaid in a college friend's wedding. It's a good thing I've lost all the weight i gained since that wedding, or I wouldn't be able to fit into that dress...lol. I weighed about 5lbs more at that wedding. And who says you never wear a bridesmaid's dress twice?? :biggrinjester:

We have extended our trip to england. Now we come back on July 2nd instead of June 24th.

How exciting!

Not the MOH bit, lol. That's funny. But the fact that you guys went with extending your trip! Good stuff.

That is so nice of you to be a part of the bride's special day even though you don't know her. Way to recycle a dress too, that's always nice when you don't have to spend money.

Hope the wedding is fabulous!! Smile, you 'll be in lots of photos! hehe

I love the apple bread the amish (mennonite?) people near here bake. Its probably a zillion calories, but I cannot pass up a piece.

It is great news that you have extended your holiday. As you know from your previous travels - England is so much more than London - and it will be great for you both to see a lot more of it. It is such a long way to travel to spend just a week here.

It is also great that you can fit into the bridesmaids dress from a few years back. It is great being able to fit into clothes that we could only dream of fitting into a year ago. It emphasises our accomplishments - the results of a lot of hard work.

It is especially good as it would have been hard to refuse to be part of the bridal party and it means that you do not have to buy a new dress and you will feel great on all the photos that I am sure you will find gets taken. Be sure to let us see the photos (even if you bring them to England or PM them to a few chosen friends).

I hope that you have a great day out. It sounds like a good excuse for a party to me.

I think that I can cope without an Amish dress and cap. Having said that - after over 20 years of living in clothes from Evans (the only shop here that caters for really large ladies (over UK size 28) part of me thinks that at size 12 or 14 I would look so much better in a sack. Evans has not generally been known as providing wonderful fashion options. They basically charge double what you would pay elsewhere for a comparitively poor range of clothes.

Although I would drool over the recipes in an Amish cookbook - I suspect that Rod would be tempted to try his hand at some - and then where would we be....?

GOOD MORNING TWIN~
yeah, I'm finally back and I hope I'll be able to post a few nights a week, or at least I'm going to try my best! The new job is going very well, but you know it's still new, so of course I'm enjoying it!

OOOOHHHH A extended trip, you lucky girl! I don't know when I'll be able to take any time off, they are so behind at my new job because they just couldn't find anyone to fit the job, or at least that's what they told me. I have a lot of catching up to do for them, so it might be a while.

So, your in a wedding today, AHHH how exciting! or not. HAHAHAHA it's a good reason to get dolled up and go listen to some good music have some fun and maybe sneak in a few drinks, I could go for something like that about now. And to think you already had a dress so you didn't have to worry about that part of it, OH YEAH! hope you have a great time!!

I'm just trying to make it around some diary's before to long, I still have some stuff to do around the house today, like carpet cleaning, UGGG! I'm actually tempted to run into town and pick up some hair color and try something new, you know I never do my own hair, I always let my beautician to do, as I'm always worried I"m going to "F" it up. We will see, I know I'm not going to have any time in the next few weeks to book an appointment with her, so I might just give it a whirl, who knows!

Well, have a FANTABULOUS day today!! I'm so happy to be back, and thanks for stopping by my diary to check in on me, It means a lot!
Hugs to you!
Kimmers

Steve--Yup, I'm glad we extended the trip. It'll be fun to see more of the UK than London.

MJB--It was a very nice wedding--very small. There were only 18 people at the reception/wedding. I got lots of compliaments on looking good in my dress. H was especially turned on..lmao.

Amber--I don't think I've ever had any of that apple bread, but it sounds really good. :drool5:

Although I would drool over the recipes in an Amish cookbook - I suspect that Rod would be tempted to try his hand at some - and then where would we be....?

Margaret--You'd be back to where you started..lol. So rest assured, I will NOT be bringing you an Amish cookbook. :D

I was thinking about doing some clothes shopping while there, but was wondering if I'd be able to find much in my size. What's the selection like for UK size 18-20?

MLB--So glad to see you back!! I've missed my twin. Glad to hear the new job is going well despite you being super busy. I hope the pay and job satisfaction is greater than the previous one to help make up for the long hours you've been putting in. :)

I don't know if there will be many pics of me to post--or any for that matter..lmao. The photographer never showed yesterday! :cuss: Can you believe that? So there were thankfully several guests with cameras who took some pics, along with some family members. I didn't bring a camera, myself.
The bride was gorgeous. She is rather thin, and has beautiful skin. I was wearing 3" heels, and so was about 3" taller than the best man..lol. I think I made him feel short. I felt bad about that. Anyway, as far as I know, the only pics I am in are the ones of the wedding party. I will see about getting my hands on some. Depending on how terrible I look in them, I may or may not post some. :D

The dinner was really good. I had prime rib with haricots verts, zucchini, summer squash and rice. There was also a dinner salad with walnuts and dried cherries. The wedding cake was beautiful. It had cherry blossoms on the sides (made of frosting) and the Chinese sign for double happiness on top (Chinese tradition). The cake was delicious--had a rasperry jam in the center, and almond flavoring as well. Yummy!

There was no music or dancing, but H and I are not really big dancers anyway...lol. We had some great conversations with the other guests, though. I had heard a lot about my co-workers other son and granddaughter, and ex-husband, so it was good to finally meet them. Very nice people.

The weather started out hot and humid--90 degrees. :ack2: By the time we were getting ready to leave, it had cooled down, but was really storming out.

Drinks? I had 3 glasses of wine and one Stoli strawberry vodka with cranberry juice. I believe my total calories were about 3,300 ish. :ack2:

I did go for a 2 mile walk/run before the wedding when it was hot and humid as hell outside...but that didn't stop the scale from tipping 221.5 today.!!

We leave for London in 1 week, and I am really disappointed in myself for gaining 5lbs instead of losing it. :ack2: Today we have a graduation open house to go to. I am hoping to keep my eating under control for once.
