BikiniBound's Diary

he'd be more impressed if I did the laundry. The laundry's not even that bad

Tell him to get off HIS lazy arse and do the flippin laundry!!!:toetap05:

local American Cancer Society, . .raise money for cancer research

Count me in! Just lost Dad to cancer 6 months ago!

I do an Alzheimers walk in memory of my Grandad, but this year they are also hosting a run associated with the Baltimore Running Festival. I would like to think I can do a half marathon, but thats probably too ambitious. So I'm hoping I can train to participate in the relay, each leg being about 6 miles.

Good luck on your walk!

NOW ya done it!!!!!You've inspired me . . .

I've gone and signed up as a Team Captain for a local relay near my home that takes place on May 31st.

Thanks for sharing the information! I'm so excited to be able to participate in helping the ACS work for a cure that took my Dad way too soon.

He works longer hours than I do, and he does do a lot of laundry. He also cleans the bathroom and the kitchen pretty frequently, so I really can't complain. Tonight, however, I said to him, "I didn't do any exercise today. But by God, the laundry is DONE!! :reddevil:

Thanks so much for the donation! A cool thing you can do for your dad is to buy a luminaria for him for your local relay. The luminarias are white bags decorated, and say "in memory of" or "in honor of-----" Then when it gets dusk, they light the candles in the luminarias and line them up along the track. It's really beautiful, and as you walk around you can read the names. It's a pretty emotional event if you've never been to one--especially if you've lost someone close to you to cancer, as you have. There are several cancer survivors in my office, or people who have had a loved one beat it or die of it, so our office is pretty active. This is 4th year I think, that we've participated. My H was Miss Relay last year..lol. That was funny dressing him up as a woman. But he lost a dear uncle to it, and has 2 aunties he adores survive it, so he has motivation to make a fool of himself if it raises money. :)

Anyway, I'm thrilled to have motivated you. I'm sure this will help you in the grieving process, and I'm sure your dad with be cheering you on in spirit. :)

I've done Relay for Life a few times. It is always tiring, but a blast. I crash for like 15 hours when we are done!

I hope you enjoy the experience.

Shew! The Omega-3 are safe another week and into the final 3!!

I have a nasty cold combined with a bit of allergies that's making me miserable on and off. Needless to say, I didn't do any exercise today b/c I had no energy, and thought I'd give my body a break, since I've exercised the last 7 days. My eating was not so great--too much ice cream. :blush5:

Last night in the wee hrs of the morning I was online searching airfares to London. The best I'd found recently was $976. But last night I found non-stop tickets from Detroit to Heathrow for $814!! I didn't book them, though, b/c H was asleep and I wanted to discuss it with him first. Plus, my passport is expired and I have to renew it, and I wasn't sure if I'd get the new one in time, as the departure date was June 16th--and all other days were much more expensive. So of course when I checked again today, the price had shot up to $1112!!!!!!!!!! :svengo:
:banghead::banghead::banghead: I'm so pissed. :cuss:

But, I'll keep checking. :D

Have you ever been a 24hr walker? If so, how was it? Last year I walked about 7hrs, so this will be upping the ante quite a bit.

Thank goodness the Omega-3s made it into the last week. I would have felt so guilty if we had been knocked out the week that I gained a horrific amount of sodium weight and not done my third share of the exercise!

At least we are in it to the end - so are in with as much of a chance as anyone!

I'm sorry that you missed out on the plane tickets. It just goes to show that it is well worth keeping an eye on the ticket websites.

Well done for signing up to be a 24 hour walker. I have known for some time that you planned on signing up for it. I am sure that you will have an enjoyable and productive (not to mentioning exhausting) event. Make sure you remember to wear a pedometer (or two!) - I will be very interested to learn of your stepcount / mileage.

I just learnt yesterday of a 26 mile walking event near here coming up - but it will be much too soon for my recovery. Maybe next year....

Take care

Hey BB, Amy, MLB, Omega et al (anyone else who visits here), my new diary is at http://weight-loss.fitness.com/weight-loss-diary/21232-b-s-still-trying-lol.html. Of course I hope to see you over there ASAP. :). Its silly to have to start out an intro when you all know my issues so well by now, but I guess each diary must have an intro..

Another new diary? There are more of your diaries floating around here than porn sites on the internet. :smilielol5:

Margaret--I will do my best to remember to wear a pedometer. If we had been eliminated, you certainly shouldn't have felt guilty, as you couldn't control what happened to you. You did your best, and it was more than enough.:) That 26-mile walk sounds like fun. I am sure you'll do it next year if possible. Perhaps there are other similar events later on that you would be able to participate in.

My weight was up to 219.5 today. :( Not so bad, though, considering what I ate yesterday, and did no exercise. Today's eating has been worse. And now I need to atone somewhat and go for a long walk. :Angel_anim:

I'm glad you are giving your body a break. Feel better, girl!!!! Oh, I LOVE London, what I wouldn't give to live there for a while and just get swept up in the city...beautiful!!!! Maybe I'll give myself a trip if I get to my goal weight.

Just popping in to say what a continued inspiration you are, and how much you DO make a difference with your posts. Because of you, I exercise 5/6 days this week. I really was not going to, if it weren't for your nudging. So THANK YOU!

Hey Kimberly!

Seems like you are doing as well as you always are!!!!! Unfortunately the blue crew lost out in the challenge early on, but I'm glad to hear that the omega-3's are still in it and ready to win it!!!! :)

That really sucks about the airfare. I always come across that problem whenever I'm looking for flights from here to Houston. One minute it'll be really cheap and literally an hour or two later, it'll be up $50....not quite as bad as your situation, though. Hopefully you'll find something soon enough before it gets too close to the date you want to leave.

It seems like you've been exercising quite a bit lately.....that is great! I need to look at all your diaries and be inspired to get back to working out at least 5 hours a week. I did about an hour yesterday and an hour today. It felt really good, and I am hoping I keep up with it and don't fall off track again. Thank god for this forum....I don't think I'd be as good as I ever was if it weren't for this place!

A lot of us have seen our weight go up over the weekend. The food that I ate on Friday night is central to my own gain. We have days before the next challenge weighing to bring order back into chaos. I am planning salmon meals for mid-week already!

I hope that you are feeling a bit better. If you are feeling a bit better - a long walk is a great way of getting the exercise done. If allergies are at the heart of your problems - have you tried taking some form of antihistamine.

Take care
Love
Margaret

No, I've always walked with a team of 6, and at least 2 of you must be on the track at all times. So, I end up walking between 8-12 hours, except the one year where 2 of our people ended up not completing their time (one was 7 months pregnant and her dr. said she could walk no more than 3 hours with breaks between each hour, and one broke her leg after her first turn of walking, by falling through the football bleachers and had to leave in an ambulance. Fun.) That year I walked 17 hours.

Good luck to the OMega-3s for final week!

Ya, I would love to live in London for awhile. I did spend most of a summer living about a 40min tube ride north of London, but I was working, so only got into central London once or twice a week. I cannot wait to go back, and H has never been to Europe, so I'm looking forward to showing him around.

I'm glad my nagging has inspired you to exercise more. :D That's fantastic that you worked out so much. I'm sure you'll be rewarded on the scale, as long as your eating was decent. :)

Priti--Glad to see you around again. :) Tell me about the flights. I've also been looking for H to go to northern Cali. Yesterday it was $270, today $361!! :banghead:

That's great that you're able to find time for more exercise again. I always feel better the days I exercise--more energy and less stressed.

Margaret--Yeah, the weight has gone up since Friday. Today was 221.5. I'm sure most or all of it's water retention, though. Tomorrow will probably be be 222+. :( But, I'm sure I'll work it off by Friday..lol. I usually do.

I think my problems are not so much allergy-related, although I have been taking an antihistamene before bed. I really can't take one during the day, as they knock me out. The main thing is that my eyes are really weepy--almost mucus-like. I've woken up the last 3 mornings with my eyes half matted shut. :ack2:

Amber--17hrs! Wow! That's a helluva lot of walking. That's pretty much what I'll be doing, as I have to walk 18hrs over a 24hr period. How was it? I'm sure I can do it, I'm just wondering how whipped I'll be halfway through it...lol.

Brandy--Thanks for stopping by! :)

4/26—None, weight: 219.5
4/27—65 min, 4 mile walk, weight: 221.5
Total for the week: 6hrs 25min, 20.5 miles walked, 5.3 miles biked

My calories haven't been so good this weekend, as usual. Tomorrow I will get my act together. I want to hit a new low this week.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed that I have a closing Monday afternoon. If not, heads are gonna roll (not mine). :cuss:

I heard a funny thing while watching a stand up routine of Ron White's. His ex-wife said if men really wanted to increase the frequency of receiving oral sex, they should find a way to make semen taste like chocolate. That is pure genius. :D

Hi Kimberly

I hope that the closing goes to plan this afternoon. Other heads may roll - but you would get a lot of stress out of any glitch - and the Omega-3s want a stress free week so that we do not get diverted towards comfort eating (something that we have all been known to do at times).

Now that the weekend (with it's temptations) is over - I suspect that all the Omega-3s are going to be shooting for a new low this week. We might not get there - but we certainly can try.

Thanks to Amber for her support for the Omega-3s!

Your poor eyes sound so painful - I hope that you feel a lot better soon. It's a shame that the siesta detour is over - the soporific effect of the antihistamines during the daytime would have gone nicely with the siesta detour.

Well done for getting the walk in. I will go out walking soon. It really is enjoyable if the weather is nice.

Take care
Love
Margaret

:svengo::svengo::svengo::svengo:

I passed the Foreign Service Exam!

:party::party::party:

Now they are going to review my application and test results to see if I am "invited" to the next evaluation step, which is the oral evaluation. I will find out within 12 weeks. Quite honestly, the fact that I passed the written exam is all that my ego cares about, as things have changed a lot for me since I sent in my application several months ago. :biggrinjester: If I am invited to the next step, I don't know if I'll continue, as it would require me going to at least Chicago, and possibly Washington D.C. for the oral interview--at my own expense.

I'm just geeked that I passed. :biggrinjester:
