BikiniBound's Diary

If I stay with my H, I really don't want to work for the foreign service. I would work long hours, and I wouldn't be able to spend as much time with my children as I'd want to. The foreign service would be high stress--something I've never really enjoyed in a job. While the b&b would be a lot of repetive work, I think I'd like it much better.

The foreign service job would be good if the B&B doesn't happen, or if H and I split up. Otherwise, no thanks.

So you can turn down an offer if they give you one?

Yes. It would depend on where my life was at that point.

Margaret--I cannot even take the exam until early March. I won't get the results until June or July. Then there are oral interviews if I make it. The b&b would be bought long before I ever got the exam results, so that scenario wouldn't arise.

Every year all Michigan Realtors have to take a continuing education class as required by the State licensing board. It has to be taken by the end of the year. I've been putting it off, and kind of forgot about it until a couple days ago. I was near panicked..lol. I looked on my schedule, and there was a class here on the 27th. So I signed up online. Then I got a call the next morning from them telling me the class had been cancelled b/c not enough people had signed up. She said she only had 2 classes left--one in Traverse City, and one in Saginaw. Well, TC is a gorgeous resort town on Lake Michigan, but it's about 3.5hrs away if the weather is good. Saginaw is a dull as dull industrial town that has seen much better days due to its economy's heavy reliance on the auto industry, but it's only about 2hrs away. Also, I've been wanting to visit my gf in the Detroit area, and Saginaw is only about 1.5hrs north of her. TC is nowhere near her.

So, off to Saginaw we go. The class starts at 8am on Thursday, so we're heading their on the 26th and spending the night there. Then we're going to my friends and will come home on Saturday. I went to hotwire.com and got great rooms--3 star hotels for $55 and $59 per night. I love hotwire. I always get great deals there. Both hotels have indoor swimming pools and fitness centers, so I can work out while we're gone. :hurray: Plus they have wireless internet so I'll bring my laptop with me so I can still post. You can't get rid of me that easily. :D

Forgot to check the mail Sat..Checked it today and received the card. :D

Thanks sweetie!

Yer lil special note/smiley face made me *snort!* :sifone:

Luv Ya!

Eeeeewww, working long hours does not sound appealing at all. Rather be home chillin' in my own B&B with my kiddies running around. Sounds like things are working well for you and H nowadays and you've changed your mind a bit about his job maybe because of the health benefits.

Hope you have lots of fun visiting your friend.

Merry Christmas to you :newangel:.

I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas.

The forthcoming class sounds like lots of fun - bringing with it the opportunity to catch up with one of your friends. have a brilliant time!

Lol! Ideally, he would have a better paying job with similar benefits. :biggrinjester: But if we could run the B&B together, and make enough $$ to buy our own health insurance--with good coverage, that would work, too.

Well, this is the 2nd Christmas where I've been elected to make Christmas dinner. Well, last year I volunteered. This year I was elected. :D So the chickens (stuffed with onion, garlic, celery and baby carrots) are in the oven, the cheesecake is chilling in the fridge, the potatoes are mid-stage, and the corn and squash will be made soon. H has gone to get Granny, and she's bringing green bean casserole.

The living room is still filled with presents bc we decided to wait for granny this year.

So while a have a few minutes of down time, I'm sipping on a little Christmas cheer--Mikes light hard cranberry lemonade. One bottle only has 98 calories and 6g of carbs. :santa:

Has anyone seen the suitcase episode of Everybody Loves Raymond? The one where Ray and Deb are having a stand off over who brings the suitcase upstairs after their return from a trip? So the standoff continues, and Ray has to go on a biz trip. Rather than lose the stand off and mess with the suitcase, he puts all his stuff into a plastic grocery bag. LOL. Well, my H has been guilty of doing that--for a different reason. It's not as though we haven't got plenty of luggage--it's that all our suitcases are HUGE bc of int'l living. So for a weekend getaway, it's way too much hassle to take such a huge suitcase. So once he put all his stuff into plastic grocery bags!! I was moritified. We usually just take a normal sized backpack each. So last year when we stayed at the Hyatt in Dearborn for a few days I told him we were not walking into the lobby of it with our stuff in plastic bags. I made him take the smallest of the suitcases. Of course he grumbled, but I held my ground. :D Anyway, yesterday I bought a small, leather duffle type bag for us to use on these weekend getaways--or our mini-getaway beginning tomorrow. So I hope that I no longer have to deal with his penchant for plastic suitcases. :D

Lol, Seems your holidays went well. Glad ;).

Haha - I have gone into places like target and walmart with a plastic bag holding my books and stuff when I was out of a backpack. I loved how security guards would always follow while trying to "blend in" to be unnoticed.

Hope you had a good holiday yourself, hon. :)

Well, my goal was to be on the road to Saginaw by 1pm today, so I told H I wanted to leave at noon. We left at 1:30. :D Got to our hotel without indident and made it to the gym for a workout. I did 10min on the bike, but I couldn't get it to tell me my speed or mileage, which was annoying. But it was killing my legs, so I think the resistance was pretty good. Then I did abot 5 min. of weights (the machines were pathetic) the treadmill for 20min, 1.3 miles, and then joined H in the pool where I swam laps for 25 minutes. The pool here is pretty cool. There is an indoor and outdoor pool that are connected. They keep both warm all year round, and you get outside by swimming under this plastic divider. Because of the big difference in temp of water and air, it's all steamy above the water. I swam most of my time outside---kinda like a giant hot tub (only not as hot).

Then after all that exercise--which I really needed to do, as I've been slacking off the last few days--we showered and had dinner at Olive Garden. Yes, I ate some major cals, but I hadn't eaten a lot during the day, so I'm still at or slightly below maintainance, so that's good.

Now I have to get to bed because I have to get my ass up at 6:45 am for my class tomorrow. I know that many of you get up at that time or earlier everyday, but for night owl BB, that is very hard for me to do, and I'm not looking forward to it at all. :(

I won't be online again until Friday as we're spending tomorrow night at my friend's house in Dearborn (home of Henry Ford) and there won't be a wireless connection for my laptop. Plus I'll be in class all morning and early afternoon, and on the road the rest of the afternoon, and then visiting with my friend. :D

It was nice to have a dinner out with H. It's been a long time since we've done it. We usually have nothing to talk about and end up in a fight--but not tonight. It was very pleasant. :)

We're thinking about going to the Detroit Institute of Arts on Saturday before we come home. We've never been there before, and I've heard they have a very good collection.

Heya BB!
Glad to hear your Holiday was fun! Oh, and btw, I LOVE that episode of ELR-that is SO my hubby and me too!

Thank you for the Christmas Challenge, I was having fun and more success at the beginning til my Dad's passing, and sorry I wasnt able to more of a team player, but I think all understand my circumstances.

I'm hoping that 2008 will be a much happier and healthier year for everyone!

Hey Star! Hope you had a great Christmas :). Sounds like you'll be having a nice time over the next few days, despite the 6:45am wake up call. Yup, I've already been up since 6:10am but sometimes I wish I could sleep later ha ha. Looking forward to your update when return from your trip. Have lots of fun and be safe :).

WOW twin sounds like this little trip was exactly what you needed, or at least the first part sounds great!! You went to dinner, you got along well with the H and you exercised your butt off, YEAH FOR YOU!!! I'm hoping to get back on board the band wagon come Jan 1st, I'm of course going to the gym tonight, but I'm not hitting it as hard as I was before the big ice storm, I'm taking it a bit slow to start, you know I only got to the gym once last week, so I don't want to over do it.

I hope you got up bright and early, and still felt good today! I know 6:30 SUCKS! even though that's the time I get up each morning, I'm still not fully awake until after 10:00am HAHAHAHAH Or at least I tell everyone that I'm not. LOL I'm a night owl to and if I had my way, I would stay up everynight and sleep all day. LOL LOL

Well beautiful, have a great rest of your week, I look forward to hearing all about it come Friday.
PEACE!
oh and HUGS!
Love your twin:waving:
