Tonight at the gym two ladies I hadn't seen a awhile told me I looked like I was really losing weight, and wondered how much I'd lost. That made me feel good. People are finally starting to notice, and it only took 50lbs to do it..lmao.

It was funny, while I was working out, a few of them were talking about how their daughters had made vows not to have sex until marriage and were wearing rings to signify this. They were all happy about it, and thought that a lot of teenage guys would be relieved to see that the girls weren't interested in sex (bc it didn't put any pressure on them). Haha. In my experience, most teenage boys would be disappointed bc they're all horny little bastards and want to have sex more than just about anything..lmao. Also, I thought it was cute that they honestly thought their daughters would remain virgins until marriage. They should be thrilled if they manage to make it through high school without losing it. I cannot believe how many teens are sexually active these days--even 13 and 14yr olds. Scary.

So tonight I was watching some news channel and they were showing footage of a Saudi cleric explaining how men should beat their wives. He likened women to donkeys and children. And the newanchor (can't remember his name) was asking these Iranian women activists why Western women don't speak out against the BS that women in some Middle Eastern countries have to put up with. They said that most Western women just don't care, or think that it's a cultural issue that they should leave alone. I experienced that in Australia when I was in grad school for Women's Studies. I was told by my fellow Aussie classmates that Middle Eastern women choose to live that way, and that I was an American cultural imperialist for suggesting that they wanted things to change. I said, "well, if that's the way they like it, then why are there lots of Middle Eastern women activists?" I mean, come on. It hasn't even been a hundred years yet since women in this country were given the right to vote. Western women had far fewer rights 50-100 years ago, and they didn't like it. So they organized and changed things (with lots of opposition from men and women along the way). It's not like things have always been as they are. So don't give me the cultural imperialism arguement. That's BS. It hasn't got anything to do with religion or culture--it's just basic human rights. Women's rights are human rights. I think women's organizations like NOW need to do more, along with politicians, to speak out against the deplorable status of women in many countries around the world--not just in the Middle East. Many African and Asian countries also deny their female citizens (if they are fortunate enough to be considered full citizens) basic human rights.

OMG..I'm so proud of Cory..{will be 14 in Jan.}

I have raised him right and hopes he will stay a virgin as long as possible!!

He cannot stand all the loose girls at school that are w/a new guy each month and both parties brag about all the sex they have.

Several girls have tried to hook up with him and he told them to get lost he'd like to stay disease free. :D

Ahhhhh...A lil smart-ass just like his mom.. :)

We have 110% explained all things to him and shown him pics of all the gross things out there that can happen to him.

PLUS - I better not be no damn GramGram anytime soon! LMAO!

We have also stressed it would be fab if he could wait until marriage and share that with his hope to be virgin wife.

Who knows?

We have told him to PLEASE come to us or my bubba {his young 21-yr-old Uncle} if he ever thinks he can't wait so he can get protection.

Gosh- I'm not ready for all this crap! lol

I was a virgin until I was 17.. I was going steady with the guy 3 mo. before we did it.. We were together almost a year.

Then I met hubby and we went steady for 4 mo. before we did anything.
{I was 18} Hubby was 20}

Man...SEE...If I just would have freakin' waited i could ahve been a virgin for hubby!

He wasn't either though..

He is VERY bashful so I believe him when he says he was only w/3 ppl before me and they were each long relationships.

He started at 16.

You went to grad school for womens' studies??? WOW I am totally impressed :hurray: That is awesome. HA! No wonder your husband makes you so mad sometimes ;) And I 100% agree. Being an anthropology major myself, imperialism, hegemony and all that had to be addressed along with human rights. In Experimental Ethnography class, I interviewed a student about the Women's Crisis Center. I wrote my paper, and compared the treatment of women cross culturally. My conclusion was, of course, controversial (I had been a Philosophy major before) and I said, there is no right or wrong, everything is relative to its social and cultural context, BUT dialogue cross-culturally is always going to have influence and spurn change. Pretty general but I was getting at yeah, beating your wife could be socially acceptable in your area, and thus may not be considered "wrong," but human rights is a global concern and times change due to activists and ideas being spread......Ok I don't want to get too into this!

As for the high school sexual activity, mum's the word, I ain't saying shit I don't want to get in trouble :D

You have a wonderful day, congrats on the compliments--just wait til you reach Onderland, people are gonna flip!

Well, good luck with that. :biggrinjester: With people waiting longer and longer to get married, I don't think it's very realistic to expect 28yr olds+ to be virgins at marriage. However, I would want my own children to at least wait until college to lose it. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. :biggrinjester:

Yeah, I only lasted one semester though. I couldn't take my classmates. And even the professor in that class agreed with them. Very frustrating. They grade differently in Australia--no As, Bs etc. There is high distinction, distinction, and I can't remember what comes after that. Anyway, I was getting great marks, and dropped out with high distinction..haha My advisor tried to talk me out of it, but I really couldn't bear to continue. The atmosphere there was so dead. Although my classes were sometimes good because I was always in heated discussions and frequently pissed off my classmates. That cultural imperialism issue prompted me to write a paper about it. I think it is a natural instinct to want basic human rights--at least for oneself--regardless of culture or religion.

I think if people are raised in homes that teach them self-respect, and have good role models, they are unlikely to find themselves in situations like your neighbors. It's really sad that so many people seem to lack those role models. You are wise to "nip it in the bud." :)

I waited until I was married. So did my husband. We were 23 and 24. It's not unrealistic to think people can wait. (Most don't, that's true. But if they want to, they will.)

23 and 24 isn't so old. I held out until 22. But I got married at 30, and there is no way most people will wait that long. Unless they have strong religious reasons for it, most people have no real incentive to wait. My belief is that you should wait until you feel ready, and are in a committed relationship. But that's my belief. :)

:beatdeadhorse5: <----- i know how much you like that!!!lol

ok so just checking in.....hoping everything is going good!!!

just to add to the conversation..... i thinking saving yourself for marriage is absolutely awesome.....however with the peer pressure nowadays...i believe it is difficult. I used to tell people i wasnt a virgin even though i hadnt even kissed a boy yet.....i just wanted to fit in. That is why....i am not sending my kids to school till they already have their 2 feet on the ground and can be leaders...not followers!!! I want to give them a chance at life without having the shitty ass schools here mess them up!

Ah well...im rambling....have a good night!!!

LOL! I just hung up with Sheryl. She's in town so hopefully we'll hook up tomorrow for a minute.

I had to delete my diary cuz Exercisephysio read it just to dig up personal information to use against me in a totally unrelated thread. And then he even made up a lie in it to boot.

Anyway, I've still been doing well on my 3 meal per day plan. I haven't had one unscheduled binge or even literally a bite of food outside my meal time, if you can believe that after the way I normally am. I've felt a lot less hungry, but I did have to do a refeed on Sunday cuz I was just hungry after just eating a tiny supper a few nights in a row (though big breakfasts and lunches). The weight did fluctuate up to 139 since the refeed so this is where I have to keep Steve's advice in mind about worrying about the fluctuations. Hopefully it'll come back off before Sat but this challenge isn't looking too good for me, despite totally minimizing my calories..this weight is still hanging on for dear plateau life.

Sorry to hijack your diary but I dont have time to create one now and I needed to update. I'm used to updating. Ha ha. TTYL Star!

You are sooo not hijacking my diary!! I have been wondering what happened to you. I couldn't find your diary yesterday for the life of me, so I wondered what happened to you. Glad you're ok. So is exphys getting banned or what? I think he should. Makes me kinda worried.

Don't worry about 139. You'll get back down there. You still have several days until challenge weigh in, so I think you'll be ok. :)

Well, it's gonna be a rootin' tootin' time tonight. We had homemade bean and ham soup for dinner..lmao. The other day a lady at my gym brought in some weight watcher recipe cupcakes. They are really good, and incredibly easy to make. You just take a 15oz can of pumpkin and mix it with a cake mix. That's it--two ingrediants. No oil, water or anything. It makes about 20 cupcakes, and they have about 110 calories each. Follow the directions on the cake mix box for baking temps and times.

It's 35 degrees out--it was really windy and cold out today. The high was 40. We might get snow on Thursday. Looks like fall is making it's exit, and winter is on its way. :ack2:

Tomorrow's TLD....but it just won't be the same if Sheryl's not around..lmao. :willy_nilly:
