I'm 17 years old and am 120kgs.
I am still in school which has made it really hard for me to keep exercising especially throught year 12, in the last 2 months I have put on 20kg, as I stopped going to the gym, and paid more attention to my studies for my exams which i had last week. During this time i have had a bad habbit of eating and snacking alot thru out the day, and thinking going for a walk will work it all off. (BUT IT WONT!) I have always been a bit overweight as a kid but only recently have i been putting on a lot of weight.

I have decided to try and lose 30kgs, i know this is alot and i want to try and stick to it as i know it is going to be good for me and my health. I am sick of trying to fit into clothes that i know dont fit, im sick of missing out on wearing clothes that all my friends are wearing because they dont come in any bigger size than 14.

I have found it hard to recieve suppport from my family, as they arent over weight like my self, so am hopeing I can get a bit of support here. All your comments, thoughts and advice would be soo muchly appreciated!

I will be stopping here regularly to record my daily food journal, and exercises.

- Thismorning, I just went for a 45 min walk.

Hi there Biggles - welcome to the forums and well done for starting a journal :)

In 8 weeks I have lost almost 9kgs.. not by doing anything radical or stupid.. but by counting calories, eating sensibly (high fibre, low GI, low fat, NO white simple carbs) and by increasing the amount of meals I have from 2 per day to about 5 or 6 smaller ones. Exercise is not the only thing you need to worry about, and not being able to do a lot of it won't INITIALLY affect your loss if you are sensible, so don't let that put you off.. the main thing to look at is food... getting enough and of the right sort.

First step is to work out how many calories a day you are using just by living.. it's way more than you think! and then working out how much you want to lose, 1kg a week is about max that is recommended by anyone.. so you will have to reduce your intake by 1000cals per day.. which will probalby still give you about 1800 calories or more to play with! so it's going to be more than enough most days if you eat right.

Check out a site like to work out what your stats are now and what you should be eating etc... the aim is to eat as much as is allowable whilst still losing.. rather than to be on a "diet" at all... you can eat whatever you like, so long as you "budget" for the calories .. so if you want a Big Mac (not a great choice health wise, but as an example) it will "cost" you 500 of your daily calories..etc etc... it does work, it's easy and it's free.

anyway.. I wish you well on your journey, and can understand what you are feeling at the moment :)

Hey biggles i was just reading ur post and i normally dont reply (sometimes) but ur exactly the same as me. Im 18 now turning 19, I was 125kgs and im down to 102 for now until i go down to 80 by the end of the year.

Its simple all you need to do is eat proper foods:
Protien - Steak, Chicken, Lamb , Fish
Veges - Everything expt things with starch (potatos)
Oats - porridge's, Corn Flakes
Snacks - Fruits, salads and mabye 1 lite bar to stop u crave.

Drink Heaps of water 8-10 cups aday. It might seem hard at first if your not used to drinking that much aday but just carry a drink bottle with u and keep drinking every while. Water cleans the body and keeps u full so its good.

No Soda No Takeout No Chocolate Pretty Much no Junk :ack2:, if u look at my fridge you wont find anything yummy lol.... but u know no pain no gain :coolgleamA:.

After your exams you need to start exercisesing even if its not much at first.
At the moment my plan is 1 day cardio (running and swimming) and the other day i do boxing and light weight high rep workout, keep switching each day. try at least 3 or 4 days exercise a week no more then 5 though u need some rest.

anyway im not sure what else to add in expt look at the before and after photos in the forum and use it as motavation. Mine was the girls and that might be urs also :coolgleamA:. If u have any questions just let me know and good luck.
