Don't mean to be the stick of the mud here...
But I catch the show every once in a while on the tube. My boyfriends mom loves it, boyfriend and his dad... Hate it. I don't hate it but I'm curious if it's really healthy...
I've 'read' that healthy weight loss is 2-3 pounds a week tops. Some people are losing 13-15 pounds a week?! I'm curious if A) It's edited for TV, or B) It's really MORE than a weeks time.
I also think that if it's for real they are losing it way too fast... You know, easy come easy go. Whenever I've lost weight fast, I gain it all back. Plus, They excersize a bit... Heavy. It just seems to me that screaming at a 400 pound man to run for hours on a treadmill and lift something a gazillion times in a row is a bit too harsh and unhealthy. Isn't the old saying to NOT overdo it in the beginning? Not only for mental but for physical reasons?
I'm not trying to bash the show... I think it's a great motivator for some people... I just think it could send the wrong message. But hey, would a TV show about normal and healthy weight loss really be interesting to most people? Probably not.
Just my two cents...
