Big Mac's Lifestyle Change

Hey SoSel! Yeah, I'll be 26 in August and still don't have one. I just don't want to get something I can't bear to look at 10 years from now, haha. I definatly think if I got some kind of words or image to signify the 100lb loss though, it would be something really worth having, and something to remind me of how far I've come and how I'm never going back. Anyways, thats gonna be in November/December area before I reach my goal weight. I'm very upbeat, maybe its just me but some days I just feel energetic and fit and healthy.... other days I feel like crap. This is a good week though!

And hello Amanda, I love to pick on myself with the weight thing. I also have this dry-erase board up in my bathroom and i have my weights and dates logged on it... and in the big open part that will eventually be filled up with weights and dates I write my current weight in BIG NUMBERS. Gives me an extra kick in the ass. Yeah, I totally have one of the digital scales with one decimal place, my scale even does a body fat composition. I havent weighed since monday... I want to stay off for 2 weeks. I will be sure to fill you in on the gym, and if a guy comes over and tells me I'm doing it wrong... I'll karate chop him to the throat.

Thanks Paula! :D You're the best! <licks finger and touches it to his hip>

Great workout at the gym today!
30min on the elliptical today, 10min warm-up, 3 5min HIIT, 5min cool-down
Did resistance training on the chest and triceps today:
Bench Press 4x9
Tricep pull-downs 4x8
Incline dumbbell press 3x8
Tricep over-head extentions 3x8
Incline cable flys 3x8
Skull-crushers 3x8

Felt good to finally get in the gym and really do work.

After the gym I went home and fixed Fajita chicken with peppers and onions on santa fe rice.

Another workout planned for tomorrow! Hopefully bicep, shoulders, and back... that will leave legs for Saturday. Definately need to work in some ab/core work too.

Feeling great today. Can't wait to hit the gym again. Lakers/Celtics game 4 tonight!

I'm outta healthy snacks, I need to go to the store.

That meal I made last night was so good. Can't wait to have leftovers tonight.

Go Celtics!

I agree, chicken fajitas and santa fe rice is sounding pretty delicious to me, too.

I'm Kristi by the way. Last year I lost a whole bunch of weight before vacation, and even though I wanted to be healthy, feel good on the inside, etc. it was very rewarding to get the compliments on how great I looked in my bathing suit! And you should definitely do the tattoo. For me it was getting my belly button pierced.

Hey Kristi, congradulations on your past weight loss, I'm sure it won't be hard to drop another 15. I hope the Lakers win, want to see the series go 6 or 7 games. The non-tortilla fajitas were delicious, I'm a really good cook, think I got that from my mom. I can't wait to be able to show off my bod at the beach, I have quite a ways to go before that happens though

Hey Shaun, just stoppin' in to see how you're doing today... HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT ONE! :)

Good to see you're excited to work out AND bought some great food! You're gonna reach your goal in no time! I can't wait to see pics of those abs when you get them! Maybe I will have mine by then too... no wait, I WILL have mine by then too. ;)
I trained legs today... already feelin' it. Might not be able to walk tomorrow lol...

Raisin Clusters? Hmmm... I get Honet Oat Clusters... is your different or did you confuse them? I want to try this raisin cluster one if it exists.

Oh man guess what i'm going to buy today..................

A WEIGHTED JUMP ROPE!!

It has weights in the handles for resistance and yea... you skip with it...duhh.

I read today that one hour of jump rop burns 1000 calories!!!!!!!!!!

My new weekend workout for my off-days:D :D :D

Paula, glad to make ya smile, any time hon. I did buy some great food and am super excited about getting to work out. For most people its one extra thing. For me with my schedule I dont get that option often, so I cherish it when I do. Think about that next time ya don't want to go to the gym ;). Haha.

Amanda, jope roping is great exercise. An hour would be really hard though, don't know your experience with a jump rope but usually 30min will wear ya out. Yeah, its the raisin bran kind of fiber-one. Had some this morning it was super delicious.

Ok, so today was going great, every day feels better than the day before. Another great day in the gym, really worked up a sweat.

30min Elliptical. 4-5min HIIT 10min cool-down
Inclined Prone Dumbell Curls 3x8
Inclined Prone Dumbell Flys 3x8
Lat Pulldowns 3x8
Standing Raised Cable Curls 3x8
Standing Cable Shoulder lift 3x8
Kneeling Rows w/ Dumbell 3x8
Standing Barbell Ezcurl 3x8

So, I said was going great. I get out of the gym today, hop in the car... headed home to eat my leftover chicken fajitas on wild/brown rice. Get a call from my friend John, wants to know if I want to go get something to eat. I tell him no, that I'm going home to eat leftovers. (He knows about my new habits and almost 40lb loss) I tell him, "nah man, I gotta stick with it and eat healthy... eating out is too much of a temptation". So he says, "hmmm well if you wouldn't eat fattening stuff like cheese it wouldn't be a big deal". Seriously!?! 1) I've had cheese almost every day since I started my new eating habits 2) Don't hate cause your lactose-intolerant 3) Don't be a fuckin ass. Just kinda pisses ya off when you've been working hard and making great progress and people still wanna drag ya down. Oh well, at least I have ya'll to bring me back up :).

(I did toss a ya'll in there, its so southern but i love it... way better than the northern "you guys")

Forgot to mention, totally downed some supplements to help with the muscle building.
BCAA's, Flaxseed Oil, ZMA, Vitamin-C, Calcium, Tribulus terrestris, Cod Liver oil, Omega 3/6/9

Way to go Shaun!! If my friend asked me to go out to eat with them I'd be like yessssssss. I used to eat out every chance I got. I'm really happy that you said no though and stuck to your healthy food. But if you went out with him, you could have got something healthy, no? I know it IS very tempting, but just don't even look at the greasy shit..... just a thought

Very true, I can totally go out and eat healthy. I've actually been really good at that, making healthy decisions at resteraunts. I just wanted to eat my leftovers from yesterday, I knew what was there and know its healthy, and its paid for, haha. Anyways, I've been eyeing that scale again... haven't weighed in since monday. Want to hold out until next week... we'll see if I can do it.

Oh man, I hate waiting to weigh myself! I kept telling myself to at least give it to Sunday, but -as if in a trance- I jumped on that bad boy this morning. I liked what I saw. :D

I took your advice and got a ticker. I got to move right on down the line.

Isn't it funny how, when you start to make positive changes, there are always those people who want to ruin it? Oh well, you're doing great and we're all behind ya 100%! Keep up the good work! :D

P.S. The "ya'll" is HOT LOL! I say it sometimes and I'm from the North. ;)

I totally agree Paula, some people either aren't aware of what they're saying or are intentionally bringing people down. I think he just doesn't understand how what he says effects people. I know you're there for me though Paula. :) Ya'll is great, I'm from about as far north as it gets being a Canadian by birth, but I'm American and Southern by choice :p.

Nice work on the 8lbs SoSel. I'm gonna wait til at least monday to weigh in. Keeps me honest over the weekend. The tickers are great, reminds you where you're at, how far you've come, and where you're headed.

nc, when you eat out do you just eat salads? Or do you alter something so that it's healthier? I really struggle when I go out to eat.

Witt... first off you can call me Shaun :). Haha.

I honestly do a bit of both. One of the huge things with going out to eat for me is always doing water. I definately down 1 glass before I eat anything. Sometimes I'll do salads, gotta watch out for the dressings that can be killer. Avoiding croutons can be good too... they're just heavy carbs soaked in butter and baked. Balsalmic vinagrette is a great choice for a healthy dressing. I've even brought my own dressing before, 1part EVOO, 2parts balsalmic vinegar, and a splash of garlic salt. Grilled chicken on a salad is good too. If I'm low on calories/intake for the day i'll spring for cesar dressing but I try to limit that. Chicken dishes are really good too. I stay away from any kind of fried though, like chicken fingers. Chilis margarita grilled chicken is pretty good, comes with rice which is a good side too. If theres some kinda chicken with like cheese and bacon and stuff piled on it, I'll just ask them not to bother with that. I think the sides are most peoples problem though, can't go wrong with steamed veggies... although I HATE broccoli and everyone has that putrid green... bleh. I usually go with rice, side salad, or something along those lines as a side. Sweet potatoes can be good too just dont add a big glob of butter and sugar/cinnamon or else its not healthy anymore. I do steak every once in a while but try to limit that to a few times a month. Red meat is good for you but higher in fat and I prefer lean meats like turkey, chicken, fish.

Oh yeah, a really good tip for going out to eat too... especially at that damn maccaroni grille is to get them to not give you bread. Haha, I know you work there and I'm pickin with ya. Seriously though, mindlessly eating like 3-4 peices of bread while you wait for your meal is disasterous. thats like 500+ cals before you even soak them in that olive oil. Avoid the appetizer menu too as those things are usually all fried, trans fat, saturated fat, hunks of garbage.... they work the same way as the bread, you're adding a needless 500+ cal's to a meal you probably won't even be able to finish.

Good workout today. Played some basket ball for about 40min for my cardio.

Worked legs today.

Squats 3x8
calf raises 3x8
leg extentions 3x8
leg curls 3x8
Lunges 3x8

Feeling good. Extremely exhausted though. Time to relax and watch tv on the 50" plasma :p
