Bicep pain - Chin ups/pullups

After a few weeks of doing chin ups and pullups (just bought a bar few weeks ago) I am experience just a slight pain in my left bicep after doin a set or 2.

I just do 3 sets of 5-7 on M W F... so it's not like I'm over doing it... and I've been workin out for a couple years now, just recently started doin pullups and chin ups.

The pain isn't bad, just noticable, and it usually goes away after a few hours... and it isn't the "burn" of gettin a good workout, it's a slight ache/strain feeling.

Maybe my form is bad? When doin chin ups I keep my arms about a little more than shoulder's width apart... pullups I bring them in about shoulders width.

I swing/rock a bit too when doin 'em... that's annoying LoL.

Any help is appreciated!

Does the pain feel like its deep in your biceps?I get that too, I think its just a combo of being new to the exercise and the fact that its a movement that requires a good amount of strength, especially from the biceps.Since the feeling goes away after a while it probably not a serious injury. To minimize the pain try squeeze with your back as much as possible to incorporate your lats more than your biceps.Hope I helped.

Spidey is right, It is probably a slightly strained bicep muscle, because the muscle isn't used to the exercise. Give it 1 to 2 weeks rest. Let the muscle recover and try again. My guess is that you forgot the warm up the muscle, before the pull ups...... am I right?

Yeah Spidey it's deep in the bicep.

Once I started noticing the pain I did take a whole week off of workin out, but it's still here.

I do light warmups before working out but nothin specific for pullups I suppose... What's a good way to warmup for pullups?

Thanks so much you two! Spidey I'll try squeeze my back more to take some pressure off my left bicep.

For a warmup try doing jumping jacks to get the blood flowing through your whole body and then maybe bicep curls with light weight.
