Btw, can anyone answer this for me? I asked in another thread about gaining muscle and stuff. A member said that there is no such as toning so why is it that I need to lift weights and do cardio? What does the lifting weight do for me? And what if I gain too much muscle?
It's [nearly] impossible to gain muscle while you are burning more calories than you are eating each day. It IS possible to lose fat AND muscle mass while in a caloric deficit. If you lift weights while you are doing cardio and dieting, you make your body preserve more of that lean muscle mass that you already have. So, you won't gain any muscle while dieting, but you can prevent yourself from losing it by lifting weights :)

This is what I have been told at certain gyms. You do weights straight after cardio in order to turn the burned fat into muscle mass.
This logic breaks the laws of physics. If fat is already burned, it is gone. Never is fat "turned into" muscle mass. Steve has a bunch of great stickies on this subject and others in various parts of the forum. Definitely worth reading. Peace!
 
I am going to see what I can find on plateaus from steve and look through the forum. I am really needing to get rid of this plateau bad!

Hi Bianca! When I was losing weight the first time, I got stuck at a plateau of 170 for weeks and I broke through by
1) doing what your instructor said: zig zagging calorie intake. I did this by consuming something like 1500-1500-1500-2100-2100-1750 each week.
2) AND I started doing HIIT 1-2 times a week. That probably pushed me over the edge.

With that regime, I started losing about 1lb a week until I reached my goal. I plan on doing that again if I reach a plateau on this unfortunate second journey down fatass lane. Right now, I'm not in good enough cardio shape to try HIIT. Peace be with you.

Just checking in my breakfast incase I forget!

Breakfast:
2 eggs
2 pieces of toast
3 slices of turkey bacon
1 mug of coffee (equals 5 cups) with three teaspons of regular sugar. No milk
=485

I have two classes today along with two meetings so I gotta squeeze in gym time like I did yesterday. I will do it! one more day and I get to see my Frankie and he's taking me to Hooters cause I have been craving wings! lol
