First off, you're right that is one long post. J/K. BTW, you have a great smile, love the pic.

As far as the weight loss goes and you have heard this before you really need to read the stickie threads. Once you have done that, if you havent already, you will be able to start planning your weight loss journey. I am certainly not the expert on this but just going to throw in my two cents. I know you said you are doing south beach but is that the best option for you?
I know i cant go without carbs for too long, it will drive me crazy. I counted calories and although a pain at first you will get used to it. You just need to spend a little time figuring and measuring everything.

Also, you mentioned time and money as being an issue. Join the club, i have two kids at home that take up most of my time. I always said my exercise will not cut into their time and it hasnt. I just need good time management. Which i'm sure you do as well.

Eating healty doesnt have to be expensive, you just need to spend wisely. Buy in bulk or on sale. Pack your own lunches and snacks. I always have healthy snacks available to me or i will eat the easiest food like fast food or vending machines.

I see on your thread you are starting exercise on 12/4, how did it go???

I agree with you on the plus size clothing, its like legalized theft. They have us over a barrell but wait until that day you walk into a regular store and buy off the rack. It will be a great feeling.

I see you want to lose 20lbs in three months. Possible yes, but why hold yourself to that? Start by saying you want to lose 5lbs and not care how long. Trust that if you eat right and exercise you will see results.

If you dont mind im going to check back to make sure you are following this. Although I am not from Chicago, i will still be a work out buddy.

Stay motivated..

Matt

PS. I have a large ice coffee with milk and 1 sweet n low every morning. Dunks is my friend.

Great post Matt, and welcome Bianca,
I totally second what he said, as long as you have the fad diet mindset you will struggle! Find what your body needs and what it doesn't and change your lifestyle in a way that fits with your life! I still eat sweets, I still eat popcorn, I still eat stuff I like, and I have lost nearly 30 pounds... how come? Because I know how much I eat and I know what every food means.
I also blamed diseases (I am really asthmatic, and I suffer from coeliac disease, plus have thyroid problems) on my weigh gain but you know what, once I was properly medicated and stopped eating what hurt me (wheat in my case) it all boiled down to: if you eat more than you need, then you gain weight! Easy like that!

There are great posts on this board, the stickies will help you understand a lot, and the people here, they are awesome! Some have been on fad diets (such as south beach) and have worked them correctly, but most have found that if you feed your body the right stuff, your body will be happy and lose weight if you increase your activity level.
You don't need to do stuff you hate (I for instance don't like gyms that much, so I just swim mostly!), find what works for you, think about it, make a plan, if it doesn't work, discard it and make a new one with the lessons you learned from your first failed attempt!
I thought I could lose 40 pounds in 6 months but was wrong, I have been on it for 11 now and still have almost 12 to lose, but I have found that it is a bit trial and error and also you need to live while you lose weight. Sometimes living is mor important, and the weight loss comes second, sometimes your life is going great and you can put weightloss first. I have Minigoals (like your 20 pounds one) but I have often not met them. Oh well, it is good to have something that kicks your behind when you are not feeling up to it and every pound lost is a small triumph in itself.

Have a great weekend, Camy

HEY GIRL! Just looking around the board and found you. You are beautiful! And I love the attitude a little bit at a time, I'm right there with you. I've lost about 12 lbs in the past six months. Grossly slow, but hopefully I can kick it up. I can't wait to read more from you, and remember a lot of healthy food makes up for a small portion of bad food. I'm looking at you, dinner of pizza...hahaha

Uh oh, be careful with getting sick! Good job working out through the headache. That is one of my biggest problems, when I don't feel up to working out, I don't. I know that is the best time to work out, but I still don't like doing it.

Have a safe trip and good luck with dieting during Christmas!!!!
