Best Work Out Schedule for buring calories

What would be the best work out schedule for burning calories?

I ask because I have been doing the same machines and same free-weight exercises for about a year and a half now (with 30 min. Eliptical Trainer cardio 4 times a week) and while I saw newbie results at first, I have since plateaued. I have experimented with different schedules (way too many to list here) but I am just wondering...what works for you? I am very unstructured right now and have been for about 2 months, so I am specifically looking for what exercises on what day, so on and so forth. As much deteil as possible.
(In all reality, I need a trainer, but where I am right now, I am stuck in a gym membership that transfered from TN when I moved. Great facilities, but the trainers know little more than how to change the weight on the machines. And financial situation doesn't exactly allow for paying a membership and trainer fees.)
 
It's definitely time to shake up your workout a bit.

Without knowing all the details, I would say that you could change your cardio. Try changing up the duration (increasing to 45-60 min), or mix in some interval training (basically doing a few minutes of low intensity, followed by a few minutes of higher intensity, then some medium, and so on). Also doing a different type of machine can help change things up.

Full blown personal training, although ideal, is not always realistic. Maybe try getting a few sessions with a knowledgable trainer that could get you started on a new program.

perhaps you haven't given each of the different programs enough time to see if they work...
