Best way to breathe when lifting weights

absolutely.

with *most* lifts, you're going to inhale during the eccentric phase of the exercise, and exhale during the concentric phase.
example: bench press - breath in while lowering the weight to your chest, and then exhale as you push it back up.

some lifts are going to benefit from holding your breath during the first half of the concentric phase, as this helps stabilize the core. primary example is squats...you need a solid core so you shouldn't exhale until you're 50-60% back 'up' from the squat.

The important thing is to breath, sounds stupid but you'd be surprised how many people hold their breath whilst doing sets/lifting.

When you lift, inhale. Breath in. When you put it down, breath out. Manage on how you control you breathing.

that is backwards. try breathing in as you press a barbell of your chest...its difficult, damn near impossible at some poundages.
