best thigh exercise that..

I broke my ankle about a month ago and obviously havent fully worked out in a bit. I was wondering it there was some kind of thigh exercise that didnt require me to get in that squat postion because i cant seem to bend my foot towards my leg( if you were to squat right now its like your leg goes down towards your foot..its hard to explain but i cant seem to do it and tryin gives me a nice amount of pain and just an off feeling type deal..) hopefully this is only temporary and if you would like to throw in what you think is the best thigh exercise as well that would be nice. i can move my ankle around fine for the most part just that squating kills it. it worries me. i did it at my job (fedex package handler) and i need to be able to be lifting boxes and what have you. so if you know anything about broken ankles and if there is a way to fix that telling me how would be nice as well. the doctor wasnt too helpful. i went for the check up he grabed it shook it around for abit cracked it about 12 times poked everywhere he could while sayin.."whelp no pain there" meanwhile im up here like holy sweet jesus!? could you poke any harder there jacka** my ankle was just broken!?!? hes like well im not a mind reader. anyways any help would be appreciated.

when i do it. it kinda feels like bending your finger backwards. it just wont go and hurts and feels like it shouldnt do that.

Your doc sounds like a jackass...

Keep off the leg until you feel ready to squat/dl again. In the meantime, you can do bodyweight squats and pistols (probably on the other leg).

Yeah, you got a stupid doc there...

But, like Lei said, stick with bodyweight exercises until you have the strength to do em with weights.

so you sayin i should just do exercise with my other leg? because i havent used my left one for about a month and a half and you can tell this pretty easily. my right thigh looks pretty big compared to my left one. since at home i was hoppin around on my right because at first they just gave me an air cast and no crutches. then they gave me a huge black boot. the thigh and calf region on the left leg are lacking. he was about to send me back to work so i assume im good to go pretty much as far as workin my ankle goes.

Did you get an xray? Is it definatly broken?

Just stick with leg curls/extensions (with moderate weight, don't go heavy). And no calves obviously, I'm with Lei, get a 2nd opinion its's been 6 weeks.

yep, second opinion. i've never had a broken bone in my life, but I would suspect that a highly complex joint like the ankle requires a little bit of physical therapy after the cast/brace comes off

yea i was supposed to get therapy but they never called me. he had x-rays there but didnt say anything about them, when i went back for this latest check up(we re-took some x-rays). it was broken though the first x-rays we had to take atleast 3 times because all the fluid from the swelling. it seemed my tendon was stronger than the bone and it snapped part of it off.

sounds like you might need both an x-ray and an mri. while you are waiting try some leg extensions/leg curls with the pad higher up on your shin. also some places have a multi-hip machine you can use to activate the thigh muscles front and back.
