best sets for a fast metabolism?

what do you think the best set of reps is to get the best gains? 10 sets of 3 or 5 sets of 5 or what for a fast metabolism kind of guy that has a hard time gaining? i do 10 sets of 3 for every muscle group right now and do
upper body monday
rest
lower body wendesday
rest
upper body friday
rest
rest
lower body monday etc...
just wondering if that was the best plan for me.
 
what are you looking to do? build mass? just strength? 10x3 (failure) is going to build strength, i dont think it will give you much mass. 4x6-10 range is good for strength and mass. your weekly plan looks pretty decent. my 3 day split is this

monday: chest/sholders/arms
wednesday: legs
friday: back/abs
 
im looking to gain weight and mass... im 145 about 5'9 or 10.... about ur plan.... doesnt that like give too much time for like ur muscles to rest... wouldnt u lost muscle mass??
 
it gives them plenty of time. an entire week! corple's suggested workout routine is a very good split with enough time to heal for a noob. gaining weight has more to do with eating, and less to do with rep schemes, up your calories & 1gram of protein per lb of bodyweight..
 
yeah i know all the calorie and protein stuff and im not a noob hah.... i've been workin out and gaining since october... just wanted some reassurance with my plan.
 
oh no i wasnt sayn ur a noob. i meant its enough time to heal even for a noob (like emphacizn how long it was) lol sory 4 bein vague
 
a week is a little too long if uve been workn out for over 2 months, i'd look for around 3 days rest

3 legs
4 off
5 push

yeah i dont do mon wed fri, i do mine day1 , day2, day3, day1, day2, day3, rest. repeat. and i dont do push pull either :eek: i only have a bench. so im cleaning my squats :cool: doing pull ups on the garage door track, lol. calf lifts on bricks. my setup is pretty rigged but works :D
 
ok so you do like

day1-monday
day2- tuesday
day3- wedesday
day1- thursday
day2- friday
day3- saturday
rest
and then start again on sunday?
