benching

okok this is another heavy low rep vs light high reps post. I just dont know if, in this situation if using the right weight. I can lift 150lbs for 3 sets of 8 on the flat bench, OR i can do 1 set of 8 on 180lbs. My goal is to build muscle MASS, not necessarily strength or endurance. Which is best, 3x8 light of 1(poss 2)x8 heavier?
 
roughly....
1-5 for strength
6-14 for mass
15-* for endurance
 
well i think you have the wrong idea.. doing a set @ 150 for 8 reps, and doing a set @ 180 for 8 reps are not the same.. corples numbers mean that you should be reaching failure around your last rep. why switch your weight to the heaviest you could do 8 times. example
180x8
160x8
135x8
(i dont kno how much endurance you have) but those numbers should get you near failure, you might have to tweak them some..
