bench gain in a month

is this decent ..? i have no spotter so its kinda tough .. i just do 3x5 then when i finish it i move up the weight a little ..

i started a month ago at 150 x 3 x 5 .. now im at 162.5 x 3 x 5

i didnt bench 3 times a week .. 1 week its 2 x week and the next week 1x a week ..

still a piss poor bench

looks like fine progress to me.
and looks like a fine weight to press as well. I'm clearing 165lbs right now but only with a spot and its not an explosive lift.

progress is progress :)

Have you been benching before? Because when you start out, your gain will be exponentially greater than once you have been benching for about a sports season. Considering you're already close to your body weight in bench, that's pretty good.

is there a table that tells you the avge bench weight for height/weight?

the average adult male who has trained for a few years should be able to do 12 reps with his body weight. And don't forget to squat and deadlift, you should be shooting for reps with 1.5-2 times your body weight in those movements.

yeah, but take them with a grain of salt.

all they do to make those charts is take a bunch of people who train, plug in their numbers, and determine the average.

so, its not applicable for newbies, and its not applicable for veteran powerlifters either.

That's why I always tell peopel to focus on what you personally can lift, and just work to improve it.
