Bella's journal - the trip...

Hello all... I am new to the site and I used to like to write in a diary/journal and found it rewarding so I thought I would give this a go! I have been fighting my weight for a while. I ended up gaining weight back after my pregnancy (many years ago lol). After a few bad relationships and some emotional eating and depression I gained it back.

Soooooooooo here I am, giving it a go with some online support! There seems to be a lot of support on here so I am going to give this a go. *fingers crossed*

Hello Bella!

I understand gaining weight after a bad relationship. I gained 50lbs in one summer after my first bad break up. Another 20 after the second. 40 after the third....I think I'm seeing a pattern here, it's not the food, it's men! Haha, j/k ;) Seriously though, I am an emotional eater big time. Food was my best friend growing up. I am learning how to deal with the emotion without turning to food.

Good luck with your journey here. You will find lot's of support and information!

Welcome to your diary. You will find oodles of support here. That is why I am back... hehe.

Here's to loosing the healthy way!

Ahhh thanks everyone for posting! I swear I keep losing track of where this is! LOL So heres an update I wrote yesterday but hadn't posted. :)

OK so my biggest challenge, apparently, is one I had suspected but didn't completely realize until now. *sigh* I seem to have some block on the drinking 8 cups a day goal. Amazingly enough I have gotten a lot better with the fresh fruit/veggie (or just packaged if nothing else) a day. Now that was a good start. I am more conscious of this now when I think about meals or snacks so that’s a good change.

Now I just need to do the whole water thing. A problem I have is I miss out during the day so come evening I try to drink some more to make up for it and lets just say that come bedtime that’s not a great solution. (As I sit here with a cup of water in front of me).

My motivation is pretty good and thanks to work I am forced exercise. I think this will continue to help my progress and start me in better habits all the way around.

I had a day off and went to a remote controlled air show today. Unfortunately I parked at the completely wrong area and had to walk nearly a mile to get there. My son was with me and he did remarkably well considering the heat but I think he was too distracted with the goal of the airplanes and helicopters to notice the distance. LOL

Before this we were going to ride to the library, and then I realized it was closed. That’s another fun ride that distracts him from the distance. LOL So at least I got a couple of miles of walking in and cut the back yard, which takes a while. SO all in all I am happy from the cardio perspective.

Now on to the strength training! I love looking at the different exercise online. Some give me such great, and simple, ideas for things. So task two is still more water and some strength training, at least a little!!!

*fingers crossed*

just keep posting r egularly and you'll stay on he first page :D

there's a good thread in the exercise section called workout - that might give you some ideas on strength training :D

and welcome to the site :)

From one Bella to another~welcome to the forum!
I have been on here now for just about a month and have found everyone to be incrediably helpful with advice and with encouragment.
I too found it hard to drink all that water because all I wanted to do was run to the potty. To make matters worse I work in a freezer. When I get cold I gotta go RIGHT NOW!!!!!
But I do notice that I do better weight loss wise when I am drinking the water.
What I did that really helps me is this........
I have a 20oz water bottle (just a generic buy it at the gas station type) that I refill thru-out the day. Since I don't actually like the flavor of regular water I buy the flavor packets that can be added. You can get them at
Wal-Mart fairly cheap. They are no calories and sugar free.
I hope that you will find something that works for you.
Good Luck!!

Cool thanks for all the ideas! I am still having issues with the water but eating less and since I walk a decent bit at work its been working out well. I am officially back to the weight I was when I had my son now (yes sad I know to use that as a goal but hey).

So I am down to 174.6 as of today, which is down from 189 as of May. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

Way to go!!!!!
That is not a lame goal to have. I think that even shooting for a small goal is better than having no goal at all.
Keep up the work and you'll be there in no time!

Hi Bella, I'm another newb. Its nice to find journals to read that are not thousands of posts long! I have a problem finding my diary too. My trick to drink lots of water is to constantly carry a 1.5 liter bottle with me and try and drain it twice a day.
