Bellaryna's Journey

Thanks Stacey, minus, Yarm and Kimmers for the wonderful well wishes.
We had a blast!!
Went to eat at this really fancy shmancy place. The meal ended up costing us with the tip $85!!!! Maybe that is not alot for some folks but that is how much I spend on groceries weekly!
Dh got this huge Prime Rib that cost $25. And I thinking I was being conservative got the Blackened Sea Bass w/ Stuffed Jalapeno sauce. On the way home I found out just how much that fish cost me. $28!!!!!!
I about fainted I tell ya. :svengo:
Dh just kept asking me if it tasted good. I told him that, yes it did but had I known how much it cost it wouldn't have tasted that good. I mean really in the long run it's just fish! Okay so it was most likely still swimming 8 hours before I ate it but I have had bluegil just as fresh and all it cost me was the dollars to buy the bait! LOL:smilielol5:
Because it was our anniversary the place that we ate at treated us to dessert. I have never seen anything so beautiful or ate anything so tasty before.
It was a Chocolate Mocha Ice Cream Mud Pie. With whip cream and toasted sliced almonds on the top. Oh yeah it also was covered in a thick fudge sauce with a cookie crumb crust!
Thankfully dh and I shared it. We didn't even finish all of it!
I pretty much didn't eat all day just so I could go out an have that meal.
I mean I did have some toast for breakfast plus dh treated me to a coffee and muffin from Starbucks ($5bucks if you ask me!) as well as getting a cheeseburger on the way back from the Bass Pro shop. So I definately didn't starve all day.
Dh was also very sweet in that I still got gifts on top of all that food!
He got me a device for my bike (which by the way was my anniversary present from last year) so that I will know how far I have gone, how fast I went, what time it is and a few other perks. As well as that I also got a digital scale to weigh my food. Plus my bike for some reason did not come with a water bottle or a holder so he got me a holder that is adjustable so I can put whatever size water bottle in it that I want.
I know that there was more to my day but I need to get to bed if I am going to go to church tomorrow.
I'll catch ya'll later.

Ok, missy....
Toast, muffin, CHEESEBURGER??? That is not "pretty much not eating". Try to take some snackies with you when you go out running errands, like fruits & veggies! I wanna see more in your daily entries.

I was craving some kind of muffin myself, so I found a recipe on the Cooking Light website for a blueberry-almond coffee cake. I used whole wheat flour & splenda instead of the regular flour & sugar. Had it for breakfast this morning and it was so DEE-LISH! I will add the recipe to my diary later tonight when I make my progress report.

Ok, now that the scolding is over, I am glad you had a great time last night! Dinner sounds YUMMY... and you do have to let yourself have those scrumptious treats once in a while.

(I am just ranting right now, but I am at work, and someone just came up and asked me where they could get a donut... as I'm typing this. I wanted to say, "HELLO, this is a HOSPITAL! Go get a BANANA!" But I didn't. Just said I didn't know for sure, try the cafeteria. UHHH....)

Well, have a great day today, and eat a banana for me... HA HA!!!

OOOOH, that dinner sounds YUMMY! and the dessert, mmmmm. Now time to get back on board and really plug hard this week, I know you can do it!! I hope you get a lot of riding time in this week as well, that will help speed up the motabolism a bit too. Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday and an even better next week! I'll be checking in on you!
Later Gator
Kim

Sounds like a great time, and don't worry about the extra money and calories- you only have 1 wedding anniversary a year.

I look forward to hearing the "reports" from your bike gadget. :coolgleamA:

Happy Anniversary!!

I'm glad you had a good time. Don't feel bad about your food that day. Calorie-wise it probably wasn't that bad. One McD's cheeseburger only has about 300 calories.

Thanks for saying I'll be a good mommy. :D

I look forward to hearing more stories of some wonderful bike rides now that Gil has your bike all tricked out. :D I was watching the Olympics today, and watched the women ride about 75 miles. I expect to see you biking in London at the 2012 Olympics. Hey, there was one women who was 49yrs old. If only there was a walking competition. I'm sure Margaret would make her country's team. :D

Hey there!
Well I did intend to take some small little snacks but forgot to grab the bag on the way out the door. Sometimes trying to remember everything while wrestling small children can be taxing on the brain! LOL :smilielol5:

Now wouldn't that just be something! But just for the record I would only be 39 in 2012!!!! LOL Guess that means I got at least 14 years to train. hahaha

As for Margaret I don't see why they can't open that up as a sport. She'd be the gold medal winner for sure!

Thanks everyone for poppin :lurk5: on me.
Still coming in at 203. I'll take that especially with all the festive eating I had on Saturday! LOL
Had to go back to work yesterday. Wasn't a bad night at all. We are heading into our slow time. Happens every August. You know, summers winding down and school is starting. Mid-September it will pick back up. Until then I will actually get out of work at decent hours. Of course that basically means that I am not getting all my hours but that has never mattered to me.

Had lunch yesterday at the church.
The "Greatest Generation" group had a potluck meal. Being one of the minister's of the church definately has its advantages. Since we get invited every time a group has a potluck.
Unfortunatly these are the same people who make everything the "old school" way .
You know real butter, real sugar, real calories.
I took it easy having only 2 sloppy joes, 2 small pieces of ham loaf, a huge helping of green beans and tatos and one very small brownie.

My Secret Sis at church gave me an anniversary present yesterday too!
I "shared" it all around.
It was a package of creme filled cookies shaped like Maple leaves.
Made with REAL maple syrup. They were 110 cals a cookie!!!
Everyone was laughing at my daughter 'cuz when I opened the package I made the comment that you could smell the calories. And of course she latched onto that like a mockingbird, repeating it to everyone she saw.

We are going camping today for a few days. Trying to get in one last hurrah for summer before the kids start school on Thursday.
I love to camp but I loathe try to figure out what we are going to eat during that time. Trying to eat really healthy while camping is not impossible, but can sure feel that way.
Here is the menu that I have come up with for the next few days:
Monday Supper~
Hamburgers (97/3)
Hotdogs
Baked Chips
Baked Beans
Yogurt Parfait (homemade w/ strawberries, bananas and blueberries)
of course Smores (there will be no over eating on this as I only bought one King sized Chocolate bar that has to be split by 4 people)
Tuesday Breakfast~
Homemade Waffles w/ sugar free syrup
precooked bacon (4 slices is only 70 calories!)
Lunch~
Ham Sandwiches
Baked Chips
various fruit (apples, grapes, bananas, blueberries, strawberries)
Dinner~
Grilled BBQ Chix
Baked taters w/ Fat Free Sour Cream
Corn on the cob
Yogurt Parfait again
Apple Pie Pudgy pies made with Sugar Free Apple pie mix (gotta love Splenda!)
Wednesday Breakfast~
Scrambled eggs with shredded cheese and bacon thrown in. (This is hubby's thing to do everytime we camp. I figured one high cal meal out of the whole trip wouldn't be bad)
Lunch~
Ham sandwiches
Baked Chips

Then we head back home.
I am really looking forward to getting some biking time in while camping as we will be at Pokagon State Park. It is one of the nicest and I believe largest parks in Indiana. It has lots and lots of trails for hiking and a really nice bike path. Though in my opinion the bike path is not nearly long enough.
Here are a couple of pics of the park.

Well if we are going to actually go camping then I need to get up off my butt and get things in order. Hope everyone has a great week.

OMGOSH!!!
I forgot I wanted to remind everyone to look heavenward for the next 2 nights.
The Perseiod meteor showers will be in full swing. I went out last night to see what I could see and saw quite a few faint ones and 2 really nice ones. All in about the span of 20-30 minutes.
If you have never tried to "catch" the meteor showers before all you need to do is head out of doors between 2-4 in the morning (Eastern time). Early I know but absolutely worth it.
Look up, focus your eyes in one place and enjoy the show.
Here's a little known fact.
You will never see a "shooting star" straight on. It is impossible due to the curve of the earth's atmosphere. You will always "see" it first out of the corner of your eye and then when your brain tracks it you will see it straight on.
Hence the importance of focus your vision in place.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the heads up!

I love the happy, helpful vibes in your diary and also, Happy Belated Anniversary!!! :D Enjoy your camping trip, I'm sure you'll find a way to eat healthfully, and enjoy the nice biking there!

Hey there!

Just wanted to let you know that in my opinion, there are no calories in food when you go camping....

Don't exactly know the logic behind it, but it seems to be true... hee hee!

I LOVE the way everything tastes so extra yummy in the mountains. Have a great time!!! Can't wait to hear about your fun when you get back.

Now wouldn't that just be something! But just for the record I would only be 39 in 2012!!!! LOL Guess that means I got at least 14 years to train. hahaha

As for Margaret I don't see why they can't open that up as a sport. She'd be the gold medal winner for sure!

That was my point--if a 49yr old can compete in the Olympics, a 39yr old certainly can..lol. Have you seen that 41yr old swimmer Dara Torres? She is phenomenal. I saw her workout routine. It's grueling as all get out. Man, 20yr olds would kill to have her body. She is a testament to all of us that we don't have to get old before our time. In the relay she swam the other day she had the fastest 50m time of all the other 32 swimmers who were all at least 10-15yrs her junior. I think she set a new world record again.

Your camping food sounds yummy. Can I stow away in your camping equipment?

Thanks to everyone for stoppin in and keeping my diary warm while I was away.
We had a blast camping!
Of course it didn't start out that way. The original site that we had picked out (dh did the picking) was NOT kid friendly at all. There was no way the kids could ride their bikes without going off the side of a cliff. Okay so I am embellishing it a bit. But really it was at the top of a hill. Basically it would be a great site if we went sans children.
We basically drove around until we found a site that looked decent enough.
Since dh was miffed that I nixed his spot he told me to do the picking.
For the most part I thought I had a good spot picked out. :dupe:
Of course I am not the person who usually is setting up the camper. LOL
My spot ended up looking like a Monet.
Great from far away........not so good close-up! :smilielol5:
It was a bit hmmmm shall I say hilly. Rolly. Dippy.
Though we got the camper all set up who kept joking the whole time about it rolling over and away.
I told dh that from now on he can pick the sites. Just to make sure that they were kid friendly. Aka being able to ride bikes around in a big circle.
So first night we are there we find out that we have the world's smartest raccoons living next door in the woods. They actually were able to get into our cooler (that has one of those snap locks) and run off with all the hot dogs. As well as bust into one of the totes taking all the hot dog buns as well as 2 loaves of bread! So much for dinner and pudgie pies!!! :svengo:
The next night they didn't get anything cuz' we smartened up and put everything in the car. Except for the cooler. We put a 15 pound cast iron dutch oven on top of that! Take that you rotten rodents! HA!
Tuesday I woke up feeling awful. Dumb allergies were kicking in again. There basically is nothing I can do about them but let them run their course and then take meds at night. So even though I felt awful we still went out and did some hiking.
I am not sure how far we actually walked but it took up most of the day.
We started out at this natural spring that bubbles up from the ground. Civil Corp of Engineers have actually come in and tapped into the ground effectively making a large drinking fountain out of the thing. Was so cold and refreshing to drink. We filled up our water bottles and headed out.
Our first destination was Hell's Point. Sounds awful but it is not. At least not this year. Had I tried to hike it last year before I had lost 30 pounds I would have thought I was in Hell and I am sure that I would have fallen over from doing to much. It is actually one of the 3rd highest points in Indiana. Which really isn't saying to much as Indiana is pretty flat! :smilielol5:
From there we basically headed all the way back to the other side of the park so that the kids could check out the nature center. They had a worm encounter going on. At this point the kids were complaining about having to walk anymore but that was the only way we were going to get back to the campsite. So hoof it they did.
In all it took nearly 4 hours (I am guessing here so could be a bit less) to do "the big hike".
I never did get to really take the bike out and see how my new speedometer runs. Though I did at one point have to track down my ds. In the process of that I got it all the way up to 18mph. But in all honesty that was when I was going down hill. A little hill. But still, the wind was blowing by pretty fast I thought.
Oh I almost forgot.
Ds woke up in the middle of the night, the first night there, coughing so badly that I thought he was going to choke.
We were actually camping in the same town where our family doc practices so I took him off to the docs on Tuesday morning only to find out that he has Strep Throat. And since him and I were sharing drinks prior to that little tidbit being known I have a good chance of catching it myself.
Lets hope not.
Well that about wraps up the last few days for me.
Tomorrow is the first day of school. I will be home all alone by myself for the first time in a very long time. I am excited and sad all at the same time.
My little guy won't need me anymore. At least not the same way.
So since I need to make sure that everyone gets off to a good start I need to be heading on out of here.
I will catch ya'll later.
Ciao

Glad that you had an overall good trip. Sorry about the setbacks, like the allergies & your son's strep throat. Hopefully, he will feel alot better before school tomorrow.

Oh man, am I glad that you are back, though. I am desperately craving Ben & Jerry's peach cobbler ice cream, and I need a smack on the hand. I baked a peach with a little brown sugar & cinnamon tonight to try to squelch the craving. We'll see...

Anyway, good luck getting the kiddos off to school tomorrow! Have a great day.
