Being sore after workout

I hit the gym hard 3 days ago and Im still sore. Anything I can do about it??..It was my frist time on the weights in years....any ideas? Will this always happen? What can I do?
 
lots of rest and good nutrition is what i always thought. no it wont always happen. only the first couple of times you start to weight lift again.
 
Some people find some relief/lessening of this affect by doing the same movements with very light weights and high reps (active recovery) or stretching the day after.
