Hey I read your post, it's very typical of how many people get stuck in the same situation you're in. So you're not alone
I think there's alot of misconception about what others think of other people at the gym. Honestly, as I a male, the ONLY thing I look at when it comes to other people, is if they're on the piece of equipment I want to use, and how long they're going to be. That's it.
If anything, we ridicule people who are in BETTER shape than us, and attribute their success to performance enhancing drugs and good genetics, when in actuality they probably worked very hard for their gains.
Almost everyone realizes at the gym that everyone starts somewhere. And honestly, I like seeing familar faces at the gym, even If i don't talk to them. It's a great way to gauge their progress and mine. If anything, people at the gym will be more sympathetic to you than someone on the outside, because of a lot of them have been exactly in the same position as you.
Working out will also help lift your spirit and help ease stress. You seem like a sharp girl, just stay on it, stay focused, and you can be another one of the success stories here
