begginer vs. unfit sportsman

i read an article that there's a difference in training for a begginer and unfit sportsman even when mentioned sportsman was few years "out of commission" (rehabilitation after accident, job etc.). the difference is because beginners body isn't used to run, weight lift etc.

what's the difference in training?? can the sportsman just start lifting few kg more than the beginner already at the start?

when i lift weights you can tell something 'was going on' but in reallity it is a struggle. i'm so much out of shape i probably should forget about weights/ running tempo that i was used and start from nothing. is the period of training back into shape same like the period you were out of the trainning?
please advise tnx

I realize that English is not your primary language and I commend you for communicating as well as you do. But, I am not sure of your question. Are you asking, "Is there a difference in training between someone who has never been in shape and someone who has been in shape but is currently out of shape?"

If so, the answer is yes. The starting point for both will be the same, but a person who has never been in shape will make slower progress than someone who was in shape but is out of shape now, because if one was in shape previously, his/her muscles will "remember" how it was and will be able to gain the conditioning faster.
