Before Strength Training...

I am trying to gain muscle and lose fat. What, if anything, should I eat prior to a 45 minute strength training session. Thanks ahead of time for any input!:)
 
Yes, always eat before working out, especially if you want to build muscle. Have a lean protein and a complex carb. Here are some examples:

Chicken breast and brown rice
turkey on whole wheat
1 scoop of whey powder with 2 rice cakes
tuna in a whole grain wrap
egg whites and oatmeal
whey powder in cream of wheat

Depends on you. Some people need to eat an hour or two before hand. Others can do well 30 minutes before. I think that 45-60 minutes before hand is a nice time frame. So I agree with newf.

See what works best for you.
 
I agree it does depend on how you feel. Some poeple feel sick if they eat too close to a workout. Since one of your goals is to build muscle I say eat as close as you can to your workout, as long as it feels good to you.
