Before pics!

Eee, you have such nice hair <3

Congrats on the first weight loss :] With all the exercise you're doing I'm sure you'll reach your goal! I'm the same about my arms, especially as it seems to be the last place it comes off, haha. Good luck!

I'm going to take a picture of myself once a month while I'm working on cutting myself almost in half (Okay, that's a SLIGHT over-exaggeration.), and I'll come back and edit this thread every time so there's not a million little radiant threads running around.

This is a great idea!! It has really helped me. I started in November 2006, and in February, I was starting to get frustrated because the scale wasn't moving AT ALL! When I took my progress pics on the last day of February, it was very surprising to see the results - my body actually had changed even though the scale didn't move.

The pictures really help keep me motivated - because I see myself every day in the mirror. So, when I still see chub, I feel like nothing is changing..but the pictures tell a different story!

Good luck with your journey! ;)

i miss playing tennis... we live out in the boonies since i moved from germany... now its hickville arkansas... lol... no tennis courts around here... just horses goats and cows...

sounds like a really good plan... although counting calories isnt my strongpoint... i end up feel malnourished... im just trying to make better choices...

I try to pick things to eat during the day that are high in fiber but low in calories, so they're more filling. Then at night, usually my mom and I go out to dinner or I cook, and I can eat almost anything I want (within reason, I'm not saying get like a bucket of fried chicken or a greasy hamburger.. but your basic dinner entree with two sides is fine.. maybe only eat half and take the rest home).

Another thing that helps is just using a smaller plate or bowl. It helps you cut back on portion size but makes you think you're eating more than you are.

Drink a lot of water and cut out sodas entirely, even diet soda isn't good for you. I drink Diet V8 Splash here and there, it tastes great and only has like 10 calories per glass. You don't think about how many calories are in your drinks but there are so many empty calories in sodas. If you don't waste your calories on sugary drinks then you have plenty of room to have a decent meal. If you go to a restaurant and you decide you really want a soda, then go ahead, but don't refill, get water after that, and don't make a habit of it.

Another way to get in some light exercise when you can't get out and walk or something is to turn on some music and do a bunch of housework. It helps to move around a lot while you're doing it, and it's actually sort of fun.

And always remember, if you lose sight of your goal and go overboard one day, don't get depressed over it, just bounce back and keep working at losing that weight. It's not the end of the world, just try not to do it too often.

I guess those are my best tips for losing weight, but so far they seem to be working for me. :)

Good luck!

Radiant! Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I know that you can do this. I've got 108 lbs to lose so I feel that we are in the same boat. You are definitely taking the right steps, exercise and diet. I just want to echo everyone else's comments about drinking water. I drink about 64-80 oz. a day. One thing that really made me drink that much water is that when ever I'm at my desk , my cup is always full. Just try to drink 6 10oz cups a day. After a week your body will be craving it. I know that since I've been drinking water my skin has less blemishes and it feels softer, another nice side effect :) Keep up the good work I'm cheering you on!

First off, I'd like to welcome you to your own thread. It feels amazing to finally open up to people going through the same things you are.

I can familarize with your in many points. I too have been overweight since I was a child. At fourteen, I was 290 pounds, just a couple pounds heavier then your heaviest.

I know how easy it is to lose weight in the beginning. I dropped fifty pounds in what seemed like no time. I do have to tell you however, that the thinner you get, the more difficult it is going to be to lose weight consistantly. It took me four years to be ten pounds shy of my goal weight.

That being said, I'm hoping this can be as fun and enlightening an experience for you as it has been for me.

I'm with Luscious on this. You really can't *target* where the fat comes off. You can however target what *muscles* you want to strengthen. Genetics plays a significant part in what parts of your body lose adipose tissue first. In my personal experience, I lost my double chin first, and next, because I became active in sports, my legs became thinner and then my stomach started to follow. Currently, I'm still working to lose that last bit of belly fat and it's taking a while. After four years though, I've learned the true meaning of patience and how it genuinely is a virtue.

I would recommend, from my experience, a pretty good amount of cardio exercise a week. I run 3-5 days, and it's really helped strenghten my legs/core/abdomen. I find I have more stammina and energy during the day as well. Seven months ago, I also began using 10 pound dumbells and they've helped me lose fat from my arms. They're not perfect looking of course, but I'm working on it. I simply use dumbells for my arms, my treadmill for my legs and my for my core. It's really, truly helped too. What's so great about it, is that not only does it target my abs with reverse crunches, it's tightening the fat around my back areas. It's really a great machine.

It's great to meet you!! I'm inclined to visit this thread for updates! Good luck with your weight loss, honey!

Well, I've only lost four pounds so far and it hasn't been a whole month, but I'm already starting to see a slight difference in my face and stomach (although you can't tell from this pic because I'm sitting down). So, I thought I'd post an updated pic for fun! :)

Thanks! I'm pretty proud of my progress so far, and I'm sure I can lose the weight I want before prom.

No Mr., but that's alright since I really only want to go so I can get a pretty dress. :D
I'm not even in high school, I just didn't go to prom when I was and my friend who is in high school invited me to hers.

I'm 17. (I finished school a bit early)
As far as exercise, I've been playing a lot of tennis, soccer, and DDR. I want to get my gym membership back, but money's a bit tight right now, so I take my dog for walks instead.
