Before before to before

I know this is the opposite of what it is supposed to be, but I thought I'd post a before before picture (i.e. lower weight, possibly my goal) and a before picture (now-ish).

The goal here is two-fold.

1) Get people's opinions of whether they think before-before is a good weight, or how much more than this they think would be a good goal (i.e. would you consider before-before to be overweight, or thin??)

2)To engage myself to give follow-ups, as I'm already down 8 lbs in one month so far :)

before-before weight: 169 lbs (about 77 kg)

my personal trainer says 180 lbs is the higher end of the 'healthy weight' range. She said 140 is unrealistic and healthy because I have a larger frame (broad shoulders, etc.)

before weight: 228 lbs (about 103 kg)

height: 5,9" (175 cm)

Thanks for your comments :)

Hi! I've been thinking of doing a post like this too, as I was almost to what I think would be my goal weight four years ago. From those pictures you look pretty good at 169. I would guess you could go for 160 and not look too thin. Shoot for whatever goal weight you want, and then reassess once you get there. Do you remember what clothes size you were wearing at your low weight?

I would shoot for a size 12 or 10. It may be harder for you to go smaller than that if you have a larger frame, and you might look too skinny. Or maybe you won't. :) But you know your body. Remember it's not the number that matters. Go by what you feel is right. At my lowest I was 135, and a size 8. I felt like I could lose another ten pounds. But unfortunatetly fat comes off where your body wants it to first. At that weight, my face and upper body were starting to get kind of too skinny. I don't think I can go too much smaller. So I am shooting for 125 and a size 6. But I will see when I get there. Good luck!

I think you look healthy at 169, but would look even better at 160 (I noticed that's your goal on your ticker).
Work on getting to your old weight, then see how you feel and adjust your goals from there. Since you're tall and broad shouldered, you can carry a bit more weight than some of us.

Your before before looks normal, you don't look overweight but you don't look lean either. If you're going for a hot look, probably aim for something like 150 pounds, but if you just want to look healthy then the weight you were is fine.

Your healthy BMI is from 125lbs to 169lbs, maybe aim for the middle of the range? But the problem with BMI is it doesn't work for athletic people.

Thanks for the replies guys - and for being honest. 169 was difficult to get to, but I *know* I could have kept going down with better suited exercise and a different mindset.

Thanks for stopping by my thread! Neat work you have done here already keep it up and you'll get there, especially after you little story has put a new light on everything. Take it 10lbs at a time because you will get to know your body and what is right when you are closer. Although I'm a short arse my mother is 5.8" so I can see where your trainer is coming from. You have a lovely figure tho! ^^ Keep us informed with your progress we can all do this together!
