Before and During...Not Done Yet!!!

I wanted to post some pics of myself...the first three are from Christmas 2004 and Spring 2005 (I had my daughter in July 2004) and would probably represent my top weight of 270 or so...the next one is from a friend's wedding in May 2007, I was probably around 240 or so at that time.

The picture after that is a portrait that was taken for my job's website (the jacket I am wearing in this picture can be completely buttoned now )

The next post has a few pictures from September, December and January. I am currently down to 203 and hope to get to 150 by nexy January...

Thanks for humoring me ~ I just wanted to share my progress with everyone...

you look great. Sounds like your making great progress. And the little one is just too cute for words.

Thanks everyone! My stomach seems to be my biggest issue (no pun intended), I wish it would just go away! I am starting to think that I will need some sort of surgery when I get close to my goal to take care of the extra skin, because even at this mid-point I can tell that it isn't going to bounce back.

BigMOFO - thanks for the compliment on the little one - she is too cute - sassy also which makes things interesting...

Hey Ali,

I am getting closer to my goal and have noticed that my stomach is the last to be going and some skin is getting lose. I am playing with the idea that surgery makes sense but I also know that people have waited over a year and it finally bounces back to an acceptable level. When I get closer to my goal I will def post pics (I have some befores that shock the hell out of me).

I will def say that taking the weight loss slow is the smartest way to keep the skin from looking like a train wreck. Remember, you had a kid, so the skin has elasticity to it and it can and will do it on its own to some degree. That all depends on genes. I have read (no real proof just people online saying that consumption of water really helps to hydrate the skin and its important to get it in while loosing weight, YMMV).

Hey ...you look Incredible!! You look so different in your new pics than your older pics. You look like a whole new person! Wowser ..and your baby is cute... congrats on the little one ...

I might have to have surgery to take in the tummy too, mine is mammoth .. I only hope I can just keep going and take off the weight and eventually get the extra skin off

but girl ... you rock! Keep it up!!

You look absolutely MARVELOUS!!! What a difference, and you are so beautiful! Keep it up!! The little one is too cute! What a precious little pink nose lol. Congrats on the weight loss and the cutest little baby. :hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:

OMG, you guys...

...are too sweet!!! I can't believe all of the amazing supportive things everyone has said here, what a lift!! Perspective is so funny, when I look at myself I see very much the same person from a year ago and it is only when I get to 'see' myself through the eyes of other people do I see the change.

I would love to see all that extra skin magically retract on its own but sadly there are signs that isn't in my future (I don't think I will gross the masses out here w/details but if you have the problem, you know what I mean)...I will wait and see any maybe consult with a surgeon just so I am not surprised when I get down to my goal. Too bad you don't get warnings as to what being overweight really does to your body when you are pounding that pint o' ben and jerrys...

Sadly, I don't think that knowing would keep us out of harm's way. The call of Ben and Jerry's is pretty damn strong! LOL.

Look at the bright side. The looser the skin gets, the more you will know that you are making massive changes for the good.

Woo Hoo! You are doing fantastic. Keep it going!

Thanks! The call of Ben and Jerry's (and buttercream frosting, nachos, fried food and all manner of junk) is super-strong~that's how I ended up like this in the first place...still, sometimes I wonder if someone had said, hey Ali, if you eat that (and everything else that comes down the pike) you are going to change your body in ways that only a scapel will be able to fix...maybe I would have throught twice.

Everyone's positive reinforcement helps keep me going...I feel like I am going to be hanging around the 200 pound mark for a while, solely b/c I want to get below it so badly...I signed up for a 5k in April so we will see how I do with that, but at least it will give me something to work towards.

Thanks!

Hey, where are some updates?! ;) and how is the 5k training going? I am training for a mini-marathon.
