Before and During...Not Done Yet!!!

I wanted to pop in here and see for myself, after all the 'talking' in my diary.

You look fantastic, you really do.
The measurements are telling the true story at this point- maybe I should start that....

Great progress and an adorable little one.

Ali , You look Great!!!!
77lbs down That's Wonderful !
What type of workout's are you doing?
What's the time frame on your weight loss in the form of Months Or Years?
Keep Up The Good Work!!!

Wow ~ thanks so much :) I have such a hard time seeing it, but I am starting to more every day. I started the measurements verylate in the game, I wish I had started them earlier. I have Keith to thank for that :D

It has taken me since Jan 07 to get to this point. I started out at 264 and am currently at 188 or so (I got down to 187 but it has been fluctuating due to my TOM). It has been a very slow process but one that I know will stick.

I started out doing the elliptical every other day in my house and last fall started going to the gym. I currently go 6 days/week, MWF is 30 mins of cardio and TRS is weight training. Once I started weight training, my body composition totally changed. Even though I was losing weight at the same slow rate, I began losing inches and started looking much better. You can see this change in my pictures as well :)

Good Luck! If you have any questions at all, just ask. I am not an expert but I can always talk about what works for me.

So...I went clothes shopping today and had a really great experience, which I posted in my diary and am entirely too lazy to repost here :D

I thought that those of you who come visit may want to hear some happy news since you listen to all of my complaining so here is the link...

My Good Sunday

If I may, I've got a few questions about weight training ;)
Did You wait till You reach certain BF% before You started it? If so, what was it? B/c I always thought that I have to do cardio in order to lose fat and only when I do, i can start strength training to tone things up.
It becomes quite apparent that I know nothing about losing weight so I would highly appreciate if You could tell me what is Your workout routine :blush5:

Once again congrats on your 14 :D

Thanks :) I did not wait until a reached a certain BF% to start weight training...it sort of happened by accident. I had been working out at home and a friend of mine said that he was going to start going to the gym in the mornings before work. I decided that this was a good idea and started going with him. This was in September of 07. About a month later he decided that he wanted to start some weight training (see where this is going?) so we started doing that three days a week.

Once I started the weight training the change in my body was dramatic. Even though the numbers on the scale moved just as slowly as before, I started dropping sizes and inches.

I definately recommend it, if you read the stickied threads around here you will see that if you weight train at this stage, that you are not going to be able to build a lot of muscle due to your caloric deficit but it will help you maintain the muscle you have and aid in fat loss.

Right now I do three days of cardio (30 min on the elliptical) and three days strength training. Two of the days are shorter routines due to time constraints and one day is a much longer routine, combining the two.

I hope this helps, if you have any other questions based on this - just ask :D

You've done great!
You look like a different person now
I'm sure you feel like a different person too =)

Thanks :)

I really do feel like a different person - it is amazing what losing the equivalent of a small child off your body will do for your self-image :D

I've read them, but It's all so new to me!! I know that it sounds silly, but I really needed to hear this from 'real person'. I can see your progress and it somehow makes it easier to believe ... You know? ;)

THANK YOU :D

I almost forgot: what a GREAT friend !!! ;)

PS
I did not wait until a reached a certain BF% to start weight training...
I knew that my question didn't sound right :blush5: THANKS :)

Your question totally sounded fine :) Believe me.

I didn't mean for it to sound like you should read the stickied threads b/c I didn't want to answer you - it was more like they put this stuff so much better than I ever could and there is just a wealth of information there to be had. I understand needed to hear it from a 'real person' and seeing how the implementation works in actual life.

The best way to see the difference the attached pic below which is from 7/7/07.

And this:

This is from 4/2008

The weight difference is about 40 lbs but the composition difference is much more than that I believe .

It is totally worth it in my book :)

My friend? He is the best - I tell him all the time he owns a huge part of what I have done for myself, his involvement has made a big difference to me. :D

awfully sassy pose there missy - you look like you're ready to go en pointe :)

giving up the law for a career int he ballet?

But
Everything was beautiful at the ballet.
Graceful men lift lovely girls in white.
Yes,
Everything was beautiful at ballet.
Hey!

Hehe - that was my attempt to show that my legs were not as fat as they once were ~ but I did like the sassy feel it conveyed :D

At this stage of the game, I think that anything is looking better than a career in the law, lol...

It must feel great to have lost that extra baby fat. I know it's hard to lose that..but looking at your photo's
anything is possible =)
I also went shopping for new Jeans, a size 9 and 8! still too tight but it inspires me to keep going.

Well, that leaves only one thing for me to do - START WEIGHT TRAINING ;)
