I just joined these forums after enjoying reading them for a few days, and thought I'd post my weight loss up to now.

The first one, I was over 130 kg, but at my heaviest I was 135 kg. The second was taken almost three months ago, I was around 95 kg. The last one (juggling), was taken a day or two ago, I'm 89.7 kg in that one.

My goal is to get down to 83 - 85 kg.

It's taken me a little over a year to lose the weight. I started eating very healthy (fruits, vegetables, whole grains), and really tried to cut down on fat (and beer, of course, lots of calories in that).

I've also been running for a little more than a year now, too. I really, really enjoy it, never thought I would. I usually do 45 - 50 km a week, and am training for a 10 km in June and a 21 km (half marathon) in September. I was never a sporter, but couldn't think of a life without running.

Wow shawl you look fantastic. I'm really inspired reading about how you've taken up running because it's something that I want to do as well. Great job!

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Yeah, running is a lot of fun, Shinsplint, you should give it a go. You already have a running-related name, anyway! (actually getting shin splints kinda sucks of course, but I think everyone who starts out gets some type of shin soreness, among other aches and pains).

A walking/running program is a great way to ease into it, and give your joints and muscles time to strengthen. The lungs and heart will be far ahead of the skeleton/muscles after just a couple of times outside.

The stress reduction you get from running is also a really positive benefit, besides the calorie burning aspects.

Thanks, I feel like a new man.

I'm 188 cm, and could probably weigh less than my goal of 83-85 kg. But in my 20's I was between those weights and looked pretty thin, under 80 I start looking too skinny for my tastes. I'll just have to see where it levels off at, I guess.

Yeah shawl that is so true! Whenever I start exercising I always find my heart gets used to it first, while the legs continue to hurt for a good while. Like now, I've taken up stepping; it's the best, my heart rest rate has gone down from 100 to nearly 70 - that's never happened as long as I've been alive!

I am going to start running as soon as parts of me don't have to bounce when I do so. Right now just got to get the fat percentage down!

Cheers :)

That's great about your resting heart rate. I know I was really happy when I first noticed that mine went down. It was always in the high 80's-low 90's, it's now usually around 51-52. It really feels like you're getting fit when you see that!

That's excellent! How long did it take for it to drop to the current rate?

You look a lot better, though I have to say (and please don't be offended) when you were bigger the clothes didn't help. You looked worse because you were hiding under your hair and clothes. But now you appear more confident because you're wearing clothes that fit and hair that fits lol And you should be confident, you look great.
