Before and After pics and my journey!

I have not posted on here in god knows how long??? But I wanted to thank all the people that gave me support during my crucial weight loss periods. It all started for me in May of 07" when I realized I was sweating all the time even when just watching Television. It scared the hell out of me, for 1 reason I have heart disease in my family so I was playing Russian Roulette if you catch my drift? Another turning point for me was when I went to Kings Dominion that summer and could not get on most of the rides... I was just too BIG! very embarrasing and humilating! not that I should worry what anybody else thinks.... but we all do too some extent! What a waste of a day.... The last thing for me and this was the kicker.... I went to Ocean City Md for our summer family vacation and took my nephew to ride the Go Karts @ Jolly Rogers Speed World and paid for tickets to ride unlimited for the night... I went from track too track and could barely fit in any of the Go Karts 1 track I could ride because I could fit in that car but it still was snug. My nephew was let down and I fealt terrible about it.... I knew when I got home I had to start making some changes.... I was always a runner even when I picked up weight. I decided to start running again and pick up my mileage every week. Now my weight in May of 07" was 268lbs I am 5"11 and a 42"waist. I started working out reguraly for about 2 weeks then I started eating clean(healthy). I watched everything I put in my body and utilized it as fuel for my workouts...to give you a better idea ...you would put higher grade gas in your car to keep it running better right? well not now...LoL but you get the idea right? This same philosophy goes with food we put in to our bodies...I started working out reguraly now and always had a ton of energy...I had 1 cheat day which I ate whatever I wanted pizza, french fries, you name it I ate bad all day evry Sunday! This works I swear especially if you are seriously watching what you put in your body during the week. It actually shocked my system. I would also eat about 4 or 5 times a day. 3 regular meals and 2 snacks a day. DO NOT STARVE yourself this is BAD!!! It causes your metabolism to slowwwwwwww down! And I weighed myself 1 time a week every Fri in the morning before I ate breakfast. I also had a journal of my workouts! Now I am down to a 34" waist 182lbs lean. I workout 5 to 6 days a week running on avg 40+ miles a week. I am actually training now for Tri's I did the marathon and half marathon races this last year and had some injuries because of my constant running... I have started swimming about 1.5 miles a week and biking 40miles a week and of course runiing but dropped it back now to 25 - 30 miles a week. I also lift weights 2 x a week also but light weights to keep me lean nothing to bulk up. See pics of before and after...
Regards,
JP

Congratulations! I love hearing success stories so it was good to hear yours. I think my fitness goal for myself is to sign up for a triathalon next year. Well done!:hurray:

Excellent, bail. just excellent! i really loved seeing your pics since i think we are on about the same time frame for changes. i expect from start to finish my own journey will be close to 18 mos. of actual weight loss(i'm more then halfway in now).

I'm also eyeing fitness goals. It's amazing how difficult sometimes it is for people to understand that when they say, "Don't you think you work out to much?". i suppose it is hard to think of someone going from zero to dedicated in a few months.

Excellent job, man! You look and I bet feel terrific!

Wow! You are amazing! Look at how hot you are now!! You're a lean machine! Congratulations on your marathon, that is an amazing achievement. Looking good, keep up the great work!!

Awesome change. Awesome dog. :)

You look fantastic man.

btw, I'm not so sure about that whole, "lift light weights to be lean" stuff... just an fyi for anyone else reading this.

Thanks for the comment! If you sign up for a Tri you have a goal ahead of you and it makes you work harder to achieve it!! Good Luck and keep me posted! Make sure when you sign up that the distance is either Sprint or Olympic for your first one!!!

Your photos made me smile. Way to go!

Miss Jelly Belly.... I am still undecided about doing the Richmond Half next month.... I was planning on running in Palm Beach in Feb for a full and try and qualify for Boston 09" ..... I have to see how I am feeling next month before I commit. How about you any races planned?

its funny of all the posts you read, you and i are about the only ones who have depended on running to lose the weight. the running led to the weight training and healthy eating. i personally feel for me running is the only way to lose weight, keep it off, and stay healthy. i love weight training also, but i dont get the weight loss results from it like i do the running.
