Before 136kg (300lbs) and now 92.5kg (203lbs)

Hi Miss Manda, wow unbelievable that your husband was also very successful doing the Atkins plan. Actually I don't have much information about the Atkins plan. So the main facts are-as you said-to stay away from sugar and carbohydrates, right? Are trere any other important things I need to know about the plan? If two people were very successful with this kind of diet, maybe the Atkins plan would be good for me as well!

Just looked at your photos how fantastic you look.
Like you I have started at a high weight of 15stone 10lbs (220lbs) although is not the highest I've been, this time I have felt horrible for the first time in my life I actually felt gross.
So I have taken myself in hand and started eating small amounts of protein (probably normal amounts to thin people) about 4oz of chicken and lots of veg to fill me up, so far so good I am not going to weigh myself every day as I have done in the past.
I have started walking 4 times a week with a friend as I can't get to the gym for various reasons non near whereI work and non near home and I don't have a car
My husband has to loose weight as he is diabetic, so we are trying together but the annoying part is that he looses it much faster than me how do you cope with this
Thanks for the insperation

Thanks :) Yeah basically the atkins diet is low carb low sugar and because you eat hardly any sugar/carbs (less than 20g per day for the induction phase) you burn through that quickly and burn the fat you eat aswell.. because our bodies burn sugar first then carbohydrates and they burn fat last... if we cut down on sugar and carbs we burn the fat much quicker. I don't know how else to put it but if you go to the website it tells you all about it, and if you're interested you can find books by Dr. Atkins and it gives you meal ideas and cool stuff like that.. I totally swear by it :D

Howdy I wanted to say congrats to you and your hubby! It is nice to have someione to do it with you..You look gr8 and definatley don't look like your in the 200's!Gl with meeting your goal,Tammy

You look GREAT!

I'm new to this site and was just wondering ~ is everyone here (on this site) following a specific diet plan? What plan have you been following? What would you say would be your top 3 things you are doing to lose the weight? Thanks for sharing - I look forward to hearing back from you - you're such an inspiration!!! Keep up the GREAT (hard) work

Hi Miss Manda,

You are such an inspiration to me!!! Good work!!!

I've decided today to start my weight loss battle again... weighing in at 138.6kg and with a target to reach of 74kg. However, I've decided to set my first target at 88kg, and then decide if I really wanted to loose more. I'm 1.72m tall, and am wondering, what an 88kg woman looks like! Don't laugh, but I can't imagine what it would be like!! Which picture of yours was around that weight?

Update - down to 71kg / 156lbs

Hello,

I posted my progress on here last year, and just wanted to do an update, as I'm now down to 71kg or 156lbs. :)

My goal is around 63/64kg or around 138lbs, I'm approx 5ft 6

This weight loss has been such a challenge, but it's so worth it to finally be able to go shopping and wear "normal" sizes! yay!

- Manda
