Beer

Realistically, how will a few beers at the weekend really affect you?

If I run 3 miles a day 5 times a week and drink a few beers on a Friday & a Sunday am I likely to gain weight?

alcohol has several negative effects for gaining muscle and fat loss. It sounds like you asking if it will make you fat. so ill cover some of that aspect, alcohol will lower your protein absorption, to what extent depends on how much you drink. beer has alot of calories which needs to be taken into account with the rest of your diet, in the end it's all realitive if it matters or not depends on what the rest of your diet and exercie looks like, if you've made changes to include beer and those exra calories then your a-o-k. is that making sence?
generaly there is room for 3-4 beers a week and it wont prevent you from looseing fat, but it will hinder your progress.

water.

essentially it comes down to moderation. a glass of wine a couple different nights a week, or a beer, or even a jack and diet coke...is acceptable as long as you don't mind the negative effects that phaledax mentions.

but binge drinking on the weekend...well that's no different than binge eating. a six pack of non-light beer is like a 1,000 extra calories. if you cut the carbs on the weekend to make room for beer carbs, you're still sacrificing good nutritious carbs for empty alcohol carbs.

Is wine the same way I drink beer sometimes on friday and saturdays but last weekend I drank wine is it jes as bad?
